Oh well, then I guess you may be out of luck. The only tools that come to mind in relation to chasing to down a Valkenhayn who is running away are 2D, spark bolt, and j.C.

Perhaps you could taunt them while they are running away and pray that they become irritated and do something irrational? Just a thought.

I found these 2 vids from the Valk video thread pretty informative:

Sure they're CP but the tactics used are pretty relevant to CSE as well. Basically during neutral your most valuable moves are 5A, jA and jB. Immediately after whiffing jB always use a 5A on landing to stop Valk rushing in. You can put up a pretty effective screen doing this. NEVER hold AC, just tap it. If it works woohoo, if it doesn't just move on to 5As and jBs again. Valkenhayn has too many aerial options to let himself get hit by a held AC.

I wouldn't advise using 2D in neutral even if Valk is magged. Valk can easily 7C/4C it on reaction and then punish him. However, that changes if Valk is out of wolf meter as it becomes difficult for valk to get away or attempt to punish it.

You troll.

I can see why tager players get vex when people just say "360 em" ........

Is the match up going to be pretty much the same in CP aswell?

Well, yeah, that's a given. However, if the Valk is turtling he will most likely be using quite a bit of wolf meter when trying to escape a Tager (w[j.236B > 6C]) for example. He'll also be walking back and forth via wolf mode. There will most definitely be times where he has to revert back to human mode, thus 2D becomes a semi-useful tool. Of course, it still does have quite a bit of recovery; so I'd suggest using it sparingly.

Those Valkenhayn players might not be the best example, take a look at this match.

Yes.

Pretty much the same thing. This Tager is throwing out 5D/jC/AC too much and is paying the price. Hell he even uses 6C at one point...

jB seems to be a pretty safe option in this MU for Tager. The worst that usually happens is the Valkenhayn might take the opportunity to run away, but that's pretty much a given in this matchup.

There really is no hope for this matchup is there...unless the valk player tries to do silly things.

The only hope is an early life lead for Tager. When Valkenhayn becomes forced to attack he doesn't have nearly as many advantages as when he can sit back relax and watch you squirm. Even with this you have to play almost perfectly, 5A'ing with perfect timing to counter any wolf rushes.

I'd agree this is Tager's worst MU, possibly even the worst MU in the entire game.

Now that i think about it, it kinda is the worst MU

speaking of life lead.....tager's will have to get that lead and turn in to a indestructible wall of defense.... but with valk's mix up .... i mean you're right about them rushing in . but tbh when playing valk ....time goes in his favor so badly. and then there's the thought of his pressure from 5a / 5c 5a [w] or just wolf > human grab mix up or just wolf command grab.

i would say back dash but i've seen a friend get 5a spammed on a back dash ...its just not right man ;/

nah that's tager vs tao

it's like she just comes at you with j.A/2A guessing games, then spends the rest of the round crawling under your spark bolts and extending her air time by 3 years by wanton abuse of sticky kitty and other shit and I'm just standing here thinking "WTF was arcsys thinking when they created this character?"

I try this everytime I vs Dreize. It kinda works. Sometimes. Rarely. D:

EDIT: Guys, I found it. It only works on Vita, but if the Valkenhayn begins combo-ing you, you can rapidly press the PS button and continuously return to game. This will cause unbearable freeze lag on their end, and will give you enough time to Tager Buster them on their recovery. This method has been tested and tried by no other than my own brother.

at least she has no command grab.
