Synyster17 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 maybe but 2 hours is a long drive(probably longer). i live literally near Boston and usually don't often go to the other side of CT. especially if its just for Uniel which i don't have ATM. i would only really play xrd and bb if it was there. but i probably won't cause that 2 hours long and that really doesn't seem worth it for that far away IMO.
Dreiko Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 2 hours is a long drive but it depends on how long you will stay. This thing goes from 5-11 so if you come as they start and stay the entire duration it should be worth it. Then again those hours of driving is different for everyone. If you're all by yourself it can be quite monotonous I assume. Maybe come with someone else?
Synyster17 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 i probably would b driving by my self and i would probably get there about 6-6:30 maybe. also i would have to be back home at 10:30-11 sooo that is really not worth it for me IMO. its just a really bad day for me and i can't be out that late right now.
Lelouch84 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 This event coincides perfectly with the start of my spring break. Oh yes! I just wish I didn't live in a dorm so I could host events as I'd be more than happy to do so.
Mindgam3 Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 @Mindgam3: Who do you play in UNIEL? Â Hilda and a rather absent-minded Yuzuriha. Â Also to everyone, yes, please bring PS3 (or PS4?) consoles with your game of choice to Hall of Gaming on Saturday. They have four 19" Asus monitors available connected to Xbox 360's, but I can't guarantee that the monitors will be available since this is also an event for SFIV and UMvC3. So, while it's not entirely necessary to bring a monitor, it would be a safe bet to do so.
Dreiko Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 With four monitors and 3 tourney games that leaves one monitor available for a fourth system. Good thing I have physical copies of most games so we can put them in that fourth ps3. Hopefully no capcom people try to strongarm the final monitor for a duplicate setup of one of their games though lol. Honestly, bringing the monitor with me is kind of an impossibility. Of the people who did that in socal, all used a suitcase and going to casuals with a suitcase is kind of...much XD. Â Â Also a small update, it's looking like I may just hang out with Vyers and Steve and Seth after all so I'm probably skipping this, though we "may" do a mini-casuals at my place this Friday, so if you wanna come by too Jeremy (or anyone really) that'd be sweet.

What are you guys playing and where are you located? I might be more interested in that if it's closer to me.
Dreiko Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 What are you guys playing and where are you located? I might be more interested in that if it's closer to me. I'm in Ansonia and I'm playing basically everything I mentioned I'd bring with me above.    I'll likely bring my ps3 and physical versions of bb xrd dfc uniel and ah3lm     My main game will always be BB though. Oh and I only have one system and one monitor so if we get too many more people coming some may need to bring extras lol. Also keep in mind that this still is in the "maybe" state. Will post updates.
Lelouch84 Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 What time will you be having this? Ansonia is nearly two hours from me so I'll need to plan ahead. However this gathering sounds like it'd be more fun because I don't give a shit about USFIV or MvC3. I'd rather play UNIEL and maybe some BB.

Lelouch84 Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 OK. I won't be able to get back to my home until 3-4PM. So I'll need to allow for another 2 hours to drive to your place assuming I go.

So from the sound of things, we may not get to start until 8-8:30 pm. That may be a little late for you, what with having to drive all the way back for another 2 hours. Up to you though, if you feel up to it then let me know. If the opportunity arises I may do another one of those at an earlier time so if you feel it's a pain don't feel like you won't ever get another chance btw. I don't plan on stopping. :D
Mindgam3 Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Hello all, I just wanted to give a shout out to everyone who made it out to Hall of Gaming last night! The only tournament that had enough people to be run was Xrd (again), so that's a good thing. But keep in mind that as long as there are enough people (read: 4 or more), a tournament will be run! So if people want to play UNIEL, BB, whatever, please don't hesitate to join! The next event should be about a month from now, the exact date will come whenever the Facebook event page is created.
Dreiko Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Hopefully I can join that one. Also GGs for the peeps who showed up for Friday's thing. I got all that Elphelt experience now.
Vyers Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 This weekend was the most fun and relaxing time I've had in a good long while. It was good to see you folks again, especially because it's been half a year or more since I last saw most of you. Returning to Denny's after 2 years felt like coming home (cream cheese icing doesn't quite work with ice cream).  Mindgam3: Good seeing you at Dreiko's house on Friday. How did the Xrd tournament at Hall of Gaming go?  Dreiko: Thanks for hosting us Friday into Saturday afternoon. Your envelope is in the mail as of yesterday. I enjoyed talking with you about fighting games/cooking/Japan. GGs in Xrd and UNIEL; I probably won't get into Fighting Climax. I find it amusing that we've both been absent from the community for roughly the same amount of time.  Why: Thanks for showing me your (not so) new (, but new to me) place. I enjoyed checking out your cosplay in progress, playing your copy of castlevania bloodlines, and being wowed by the horrors of ClayFighter 1. (Turns out ClayFighter 2 was for the super nintendo, but later there was a 3rd game ClayFighter 63 1/3 for N64).  Seth: I enjoyed our conversations about fan communities and popular culture. Thanks for showing me the 2nd and 3rd videos of that not-muppet creepy mindfuckery. Also, thanks for recommending Baroque, I had a blast playing it. I'm glad you enjoyed Brentalfloss and thanks for sitting through Yoru no Yatterman episode 1 even though it wasn't really your thing.  Glitch: Thanks so much for having me over. Good games in Xrd/Vampire Savior, and I'm glad you found my in person 'lets play' of Baroque amusing. I'm glad you enjoyed Yoru no Yatterman and I look forward to seeing your newest piece of art once it's completed. I enjoyed our mid-cooking conversation on art, and I hope I was able to explain some of my wok cooking process in a way that made sense. Thank you so much for sushi lunch, curry ingredients, cleaning up after I cooked, and spotting me for AB. Weirdness: I tried calling you when I arrived on Friday, but I got a different phone; thought I copied your number into that phone wrong, but I checked the call history when I got home, and it was the exact same number as yours down to the area code  Glitch and Seth: I'm glad you enjoyed my curry, despite me not getting the flavor quite right. I'm curious if you'd like it more the way it turned out this time, or the way I usually do it. The thing about potentially cooking with Dreiko in the future, is that I tend not to collaborate well; I'm poor at communicating in real time and compromising, so in group projects I tend to either do everything myself, or do whatever my partner(s) want; I might be up for giving it a try though. I'll see you (and Why, and probably Mindgam3, and hopefully Dreiko) at AB.
Dreiko Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Haha, when you cook with someone you wanna have just one central vision and the other person will be like your little helper (or as I affectionately call them "the prep bitch") who gets all the peeling and washing odd-jobs so trust me, I completely understand where you're coming from. What we can do is just make two different things and I can help you with yours while you're teaching me the steps and then you can help me with mine and I'll teach you the steps and we both have complete control over the process. You basically need a leader and all the people should be following the exact same plan rather than just doing whatever comes to mind. In execution of a recipe there's only right and wrong, no compromise.
TAI-X Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Heard through the grapevine that there will be a new Round1 arcade opening in MA sometime in 2016. There are already a few in other parts of the country, but I think they're mainly focused on Bemani...don't know whether they have many fighters.
Vyers Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Hmm, took a look at the Round1 website: http://www.round1usa.com/arcade/ Â It looks like they have a few fighting games, but they're listed under PCB/Sports Games rather than fighting games. It seems like either their list/screenshot is outdated, or their games are outdated cause they're showing SSFIV and Tekken Tag 2. This also seems to be an incomplete inventory.
Dreiko Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 GGs to the folks at Brian's place. Both DFC and Arcana heart 3 love max were played last night. I think we're doing good work here.

Dreiko Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Gonna be at anime boston this weekend. Looking forward to playing games with people from all around!
Synyster17 Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Gonna be at anime boston this weekend. Looking forward to playing games with people from all around! Â Yoooooo who else is going. i haven't played offline in so long. we could all go on AB forum and say stuff like we want bb or we want gg
Dreiko Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 I think the game room will have the games up anyways, they had em the other two times I went anyhow. I will bring my games with me in case they lack some of the more uncommon fare like Arcana heart or Dengeki Bunkou. Â Â Oh and from my knowledge, Vyers and Glitch are also coming, not sure who else.
Vyers Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Yoooooo who else is going. i haven't played offline in so long. we could all go on AB forum and say stuff like we want bb or we want gg   I think the game room will have the games up anyways, they had em the other two times I went anyhow. I will bring my games with me in case they lack some of the more uncommon fare like Arcana heart or Dengeki Bunkou.   Oh and from my knowledge, Vyers and Glitch are also coming, not sure who else.  Yep I'll be there. As will Noisetank and most likely Mindgam3 and blueNINE. I probably won't bring a stick with me, cause it'll be murder on my shoulders dragging it around all weekend, but I'll hit the game room at some point.  They usually have a BB setup and they're likely to have a GG setup again now that xrd is out (they might even run tourneys for these 2). UNIEL and Skullgirls are less likely, but possible. My experience with requesting games on the AB forums in the past has been that it usually helps. My experience with AB tourneys/setups has not been very good (disorganized, conflicting info on start times as well as methods of/ need for pre-registration, and, since the decline of the crt, laggy setups). Mindgam3 has been known for bringing a full setup for GG/BB to AB. Maybe he'll continue the tradition. It's definitely worth bringing a full setup (game/system/tv/powerstrip/controllers) if you have a hotel room at the sheraton/merriot and plan to camp the game room for a long time.  Edit: Huh, looks like they have a Mexican knife fight style retro game tournament on Saturday. Official tournament thread: http://forums.animeboston.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=16944  Unofficial tournament thread: http://forums.animeboston.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=19579  The unofficial tournament thread is locked. I posted my interest in a GG tournament in the official tournament thread. Also started a thread stating my interest in GG being in the game room generally. Both post and thread are waiting on moderator approval. I'll post a link to the thread when/if it's approved for viewing.  Edit 2: Guilty Gear Xrd setup request thread (feel free to post requests for BB and other games here or create your own request thread): http://forums.animeboston.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=19684
Dreiko Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Hopefully something comes out of it. I checked their other topics and the bigger-sounding thing was a fighting game tournament that you had to raise money in order to participate in and which was gonna be a random-fighter-tourney that the players won't know about until it begins.   Hopefully we can have some proper games and show people awesome stuff lol.
