DemiiPoet Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Do anyone else have problems transitioning from their custom sticks to standard arcade cabinets? If so, do you ever adjust or are there always some noticeable difference that may cause you to input wrong commands?
kirk Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 (edited) You're probably just too used to your stick. Do you also have this problem when you use someone else's? The only difference i feel mostly is how beat up/how new the cab stick is and it does mess up some of my inputs. Edited May 15, 2012 by kirk
Circuitous Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 On Japanese parts I just have to adjust how I sit. On American parts I have to slit my wrists.

But there is no difference to me Sent from my HTC Panache using Tapatalk

It's been ages since I played using someone else's stick, but yeah, I think I can feel a difference too. Guess I'll get used to it eventually. Circuitous, is that to say American parts are of terrible quality or what?
mr.mortified Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 american parts aren't terrible they're just american......
Mr. Kimura Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 (edited) The buttons are too springy when it comes to American parts. The joystick often feels too stiff, and its usually a circle gate. I'm not a fan of American arcade cab parts for fighters. So yes, I do have trouble transitioning to answer the question. When it comes to other peoples arcade sticks, its usually a Madcatz TE or a Hori, and I own both thus making it not a problem in that regard. Edited May 16, 2012 by Mr. Kimura
Circuitous Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 (edited) Circuitous, is that to say American parts are of terrible quality or what? For the most part. Stiff, concave buttons with weird throws. Mushy bat tops with fully circular gates*. Good enough (barely) for simple games on straightforward cabinets, but not FGs. Our local arcade has a few FG cabinets rigged up with American parts (CvS2, MvC2, Project Justice, to name a few), and I find them very difficult to play on, to the point where even a quarter-circle motion gives me trouble. That said, apparently practice makes perfect, as the arcade's owner has no trouble whatsoever with the setups. Fortunately, the more frequently played games have been given Sanwa parts. * Bat tops themselves are usually fine, it's more the gate and spring that's the issue. Edited May 17, 2012 by Circuitous
DemiiPoet Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 It's a terrible shame that the American arcade scene is just about dead, especially with this revival of FGs :/ And the smaller ones that are surviving have crap parts.
