B&B Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 There also seems to be slight delay between j.D and Sidewinder. Mostly for the corner though. Really? AFAIK, there shouldn't be a need to pause after the j.d in the corner. I can do them perfectly in the corner, but thats about it. Thanks for the reply, Champ, but its still not working..... Guess i should just stick to j.s > CLSW method.
Champion Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 You're probably not fast enough. And on some characters is harder to do it (mainly Ky, Robo-Ky and almost impossible on Johnny)
CrimsonDisaster Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 There also seems to be slight delay between j.D and Sidewinder. Mostly for the corner though. That's a character/combo specific thing. Shadow Blade: You don't want to see any dash animation. You just want to see Sol jump with dash momentum. Practice makes perfect.
B&B Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 So, i tried doing what CD said, and it worked!!!! I tried it on OR and got it right. Thanks for the tips, guys.
Bunny Revolver Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 I just got AC a few days ago and previously i played GGx2 and i notice ALOT has changed, im also new to the forums. anywhoo in GGx2 my favorite character was Sol and i was just wondering how much has been changed on him. I notice the computer is capable of doing huge air combos and stuff it almost reminded me of Mvc2 O_o. well sol doesnt seem so different to me other than his Bandit revolver doesnt bounce it makes them slide and grand viper doesnt end in volcanic viper, but...idk, there might be subtle changes i didnt notice but idk even know how to roman chancel in this game yet its not the same as in ggx2, well any tips would prove to be very helpful im sorry im writing so horrible but im terrible sleepy. thx, BR
TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Hi, I merged this with the general discussion thread. I know the Sol forum is a mess right now but please try to look around and read some of the other threads instead of posting a whole new thread just to ask questions.

It comes out much faster, is completely safe on block, and has a Clean Hit property. Can follow up with Tyrant Rave for another 25% tension on block, hit, or whiff. - 2K-6P gattlings, but will no longer combo. - Air throw is now untechable. - Volcanic Viper (both air and ground versions) damage has been reduced. Tatakiotoshi (followup knockdown kick) untechable time has been increased. - Grand Viper starts up faster, is now only eight hits, and the last hit Sol does an uppercut that leaves him airborne. Last hit has a Clean Hit property. Still unsafe on block, but you won't get Instant Killed anymore. - Gunflame Feint now has a hitbox; hits at Sol's leg. - Gunflame no longer combos on crouching opponents (eg. 5K-2H -> GF). - Air Bandit Revolver has longer untechable time on hit. - Sidewinder now does more damage on Clean Hit. Damage done depends on how many Clean Hits are in the combo (includes Clean Hits from Grand Viper, Fafnir, and other Sidewinders). That should, more or less, cover the changes you were looking for. May be a good idea to read through the guide too, although combos and strategy are currently incomplete.
Darkhonor90 Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 - Gunflame no longer combos on crouching opponents (eg. 5K-2H -> GF). http://youtube.com/watch?v=hqXUwVHO3nk 1:20?
TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 That was 2HS -> GV RC, GF FRC, etc.
Darkhonor90 Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 That was 2HS -> GV RC, GF FRC, etc. I know but he said it couldn't be done on crouching characters. And the character was crouching. Or do you mean you can't do normals into GF on crouching anymore?
CrimsonDisaster Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 you can't do normals into GF on crouching anymore this
TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 The implication was that you could not do it on crouching characters from normals like you used to be able to. GV is probably a different story in how it stuns.

Hatred Edge Posted December 29, 2007 Author Posted December 29, 2007 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsxA6u0YIL0 The above contains what Sol looks like in Gear form. From Overture, thx to Zazz. Thoughts?
Abominable K Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 My thought is that Sol's Gear form is irrelevant to gameplay discussion.
Hatred Edge Posted December 30, 2007 Author Posted December 30, 2007 I just wanted everyone to see what it looked like that's all. How we feel on DI is the same.
Hatred Edge Posted February 10, 2008 Author Posted February 10, 2008 I wanted to ask, if I whiff a VV is there any reason to use a delayed KD?
VR-Raiden Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 sometimes it can hit people out when they run in to punish but it's really dangerous. Usually not a good idea unless you know they aren't ready for it. They'll probably catch on pretty fast and get CH. for example, if Sol sees a VV whiff or blocks it and waits for the KD kick, he can punish with CH GF for massive damage
Cadenza Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 It's really gimmicky but I've actually dodged / hit people with it a decent amount of times, yet also been punished for it about the same amount. It all depends on how well you know your enemy. Typically you won't want to do it though, it gives people extra time to plan out where you will fall / how to punish you. Not to mention you're in counter hit state on the fall and land crouching after both VV and Tataki Otoshi.
Hatred Edge Posted February 11, 2008 Author Posted February 11, 2008 I thought it was gimmicky.. I never really used it.
