antonymichiru Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 In Europe ps4 online game is ok... 2/3f of delay it's normal IMHO
nyyyyy Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 JP 2 JP had 2 - 7f. If you guys expect less than 2F consistently, may aswell give up now. I dont really see how its even supposed to be less on average. 2F basically account for 33,4ms, which I would claim the majority of players in Europe or Japan will end up having.Thats completely fine. In fact, its probably pretty good. The average will most likely be higher.
king of heart Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 I agree I was also slightly dissapointed with 720p characters, they are quite jaggy. If any English guys have a fibre connection add me for some network testing. Mr_Freezy Arcade port is 720p Haven't been able to play the console version until now, but getting my copy signed by Ishiwatari definitely made it worth waiting.
nyyyyy Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 I agree I was also slightly dissapointed with 720p characters, they are quite jaggy. If any English guys have a fibre connection add me for some network testing. Mr_Freezy What sort of screen are you playing on if I may ask? I am using a 24" MVA panel and they look quite decent if you sit ~70-80cm away from the monitor. As soon as you come closer however you can make out certain, less detailed areas. Only further convinces me to get the PS4 and I would, if it wouldnt force me to pay 400 bucks for a no games station, buy a new stick and pay for PSN+ on top of that. But as far as I can tell the game looks fine. The bigger the screen the less good it looks, obviously. 24" is the biggest size you still wanna run 1080p on, anything else should use 1440p. So its obvious that 720p looks a bit pixelated, especially when your screen is shit at scaling down from native resolution which will most likely be 1080p.
qwerty Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 People here aren't complaining over nothing, dude. It's sub-AC quality, and I'm not exaggerating.
Zouf Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Just came back from online session. It's decent, had 4f of input lag max. Sub-AC quality? Come on, not even close.
nyyyyy Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 People here aren't complaining over nothing, dude. It's sub-AC quality, and I'm not exaggerating. I have the game infront on me, on one of my other screens. If youre really trying to tell me that this looks like a PS2 title then I would ask you to visit an optician or try to start judging things a bit more objectively.
felirx Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 I play regularly on a 108" screen and the game looked fine last night during my 2 hours challenge session. There is a certain jagginess around that is to be expected for an upscaled 720p image. You can also see the polygons at certain camera angles during cutscenes which is to be expected. We'll see how it feels today when we have the first game night for this.
qwerty Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 I was talking about the netcode, though the graphics are pretty disappointing, as well.
FKGunBlaze Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Arcade port is 720p Haven't been able to play the console version until now, but getting my copy signed by Ishiwatari definitely made it worth waiting. Lucky dude...
MasterXDrake Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 What about the PS4 version netcode? Is it better than the PS3 version?
nyyyyy Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 I was talking about the netcode, though the graphics are pretty disappointing, as well. I dont get what people were expecting. 2F delay accounts for 33,4ms of latency. 3F account for 50,1ms of latency. This is the average amount of delay you will have by default due to the fact that the game is online. Not even GGPO provides a true arcade experience, it still varries between 0,1-16,6ms difference to perfection. 2F-3F are perfectly fine to play fighting games at. However, people who spike between 2F-7F have no right to complain. They either have 3rd world level connections or play wireless. Thats a range of 80ms+, and go from 33,4ms to 116,9ms. Again, I dont know what sort of people you play against but I did play a few sets yesterday, or rather last night, and I didnt have any problems. I honestly would like a poll or something where we can rate the online based on where we come from. Because I am pretty certain that most people who are complaining are from the US. I watched a stream for a couple minutes yesterday and the guy kept ranting about shitty netcode, yet his latency had a frame buffer range of 6, going from 3-9.
qwerty Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Even sub par internet should work if the players are close enough. I have a 2Gb connection, playing exclusively in Tokyo lobbies, and the best match I've had so far has fluctuated between delay 3 and 4. I still had to input everything super early, couldn't play on reaction, etc.
nyyyyy Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 You dont have a sub par connection if the netcode has to account for 3-4F delay for a guy who lives in the same area. Thats up to 66,8ms. I played people from Russia who live on the other end of the continent and had 2F, and my internet is pretty abysmal by modern standards. No idea who youre trying to fool here but your story simply doesnt match. Besides, 3F is far from being bad and certainly doesnt mean that you have to input everything super early. Do you even realize how little 50,1ms actually are? Yes, you can notice a delay compared to offline play. But we have been over this multiple times already.
qwerty Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 I mean, I can record a video if you'd like, lol. I'm just telling you that the complaints are not coming from nowhere, that the netcode really is that bad, and that there's no reason not to believe that it's that bad even within Japan.
2nd_striker Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 anyone know when the DLC colours are going up? gonna grab the HK version tonight (no point in waiting for the US version now) with a $500 card. Also will hong kong get leo before the US??
nyyyyy Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 And it's not in my experience. So I have no reason to give americans, who apparently think that jumping from 2-7 frames delay is normal, the benefit of the doubt. We will see how this develops over the next couple weeks. As far as I can tell its fine. Not outstanding, but totally fine. But sure, make a video because I cant really follow what youre trying to imply anymore. Especially since my experience was vastly different. So I would be interested in seeing it first hand. I am not really sure how I am supposed to tell the difference by a clip though. After all, its not visible in game. Its something you perceive when pressing buttons. In fact,it might be worth mentioning that the game doesnt give you any information about your opponents country of residence. Meaning, if you play in a Tokyo lobby there could be people from Australia in there. I could join them as well, even though being a european player (I think, I didnt try it but it looked freely accessible to me). Due to the connection establishing P2P you will both end up with a completely abysmal experience. All you see is the Framebuffer of the opponent, but you cant tell where hes from. In games like SF you immediately could kick Peruvians if you were european because you knew (thanks to the flag) that this wont work. I feel like we need something like this in Xrd as well, especially since you can join lobbies globally. Hell, when I select "European Lobbies" it gives me Australia as an option.
Kyosuke Kagami Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Payments for XRD confirmed, got my Hori V4 Now it's just a matter of time before I can finally play the full version of this game Also, has anyone here tried the Xrd special pad? Is it comfortable to use?
pduke Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 I preordered through japanese psn on the 28th. The game preloaded, but I do not see Elphet. Did anyone else have this issue? Am I overlooking something?
Nemo-_- Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 I was talking about the netcode, though the graphics are pretty disappointing, as well. It's rare to see someone who doesn't blindly worship this game. It's too bad about the netcode, hope it gets fixed somehow. The dream is dead
nyyyyy Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 It's rare to see someone who doesn't blindly worship this game. It's too bad about the netcode, hope it gets fixed somehow. The dream is dead I dont really see how making different experiences is worshipping. All I know is that I played with Europeans and the game ran fine. A british person in this thread said that he has 2-3 frames delay on average, which is fine as well. You need to realize that, if the netcode was so garbage, then I wouldnt be able to play the way I can. Which leads us to the conclusion that its not just the netcode, but also peoples internet connection. No one ever said that the game, and especially netcode, it perfect. All I did was question certain parts of the story due to the shit I have seen on various streams while playing myself. Worshipping is something completely different.
RWA Announcer Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 For anyone who wants to see a visual comparison between Quality and Speed mode on the PS3, James Xie made a short video about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaeSOCRccAs&list=UUNUmWSJa3vJQrNmxwVekm6g
nyyyyy Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 For anyone who wants to see a visual comparison between Quality and Speed mode on the PS3, James Xie made a short video about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaeSOCRccAs&list=UUNUmWSJa3vJQrNmxwVekm6g I found that the processing mode actually looks better in some situations. An example for that is May's ship. Quality mode puts some really ugly characters in the background who look pretty lame due to 720p (low detailed models). In speed mode those are gone. Stage looks way better due to them missing.
antonymichiru Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Some Elphelt gameplay (ps4). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OGUxuNxjyA And Venom http://youtu.be/Q-_gqZBvZuk It's me but I haven't used the arcade stick yet so it's very hard to do combos
Pomparomp Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 I'm not sure what people expected from delay based netcode. Rollback would be better in 100% of situations, but there's like one modern game that even uses it. This feels like every other fighting game I've ever played online, but now you can see the exact number and I'm pretty sure people are just overreacting to that.
