With the new GG announced and Arcfes GG finals being pretty hype, i got an outstanding urge to play this game more seriously. I never settled on a character so recently i narrowed down to 5. Jam, Testament, Johnny, Venom, and Dizzy. I will definitely play all 5 of them with some level of proficiency at some point and maybe others.

My question is, which character would be the easiest to start out with execution wise? I haven't played much so i'm basically learning all of the mechanics and button layout. I don't want to start out with some super difficult character while learning since i did that with BB with carl and kind of put it down for a good few months.

I only play Johnny, and I can say he has some hard execution stuff, mainly Enkasu setups, but not too much. His difficulty comes much more from using the right normals at the right time. He has extremely specific hit boxes on all his stuff. In return, however, he's probably got some the fastest, most damaging moves in the game compared to how long-range they are.

I know literally nothing about the other characters though.

Testament will give you the best bang for your buck if you are looking to be good fast. His combos are more about setup than about execution and he has a lot of easy tools to help dominate and control a match. Jam is even easier but doesn't have as high a ceiling, so it depends on what you care about with regards to overall effectiveness.

I'd personally say you just pick the one you prefer and learn them. People take a lot more time to learn in GG than Blaz, so you may as well make a decision on a probable permanent main now and start learning them.

However, purely within terms of execution: Dizzy is really easy aside from ice spike FRC. Jam's not as easy, but still pretty light. Venom can be a bitch. Testament depends on how easy your opponnent is to BLoop (Although that's apparrently gone in +R so eh. Obviously haven't tried doing anything within that yet).

Thanks for the input. If i got it correctly, in term of difficulty from easiest to hardest on execution, it goes Dizzy, Jam, Testament, Johnny/Venom.

I'll go tinker a bit more in training mode to see who i prefer most (right now Venom has the lead over Johnny and Jam) and probably take InWithTheAshes advice.

Jam is a bit easier than Dizzy, execution-wise, and both are good in +R.

Admittedly, I've only experimented with Jam in training mode, but I'd still say that Dizzy is, within general, easier. Only thing that's really difficult for her is ice spike FRC. Bubble combo's are easy, they're just require conditions, and any other routes she has that doesn't involve said FRC are mostly really basic knockdown combo's.

Jam's execution was tougher for me to learn than Dizzy's, but it's kind of splitting hairs. They're both rather easy.
