Setting to disable gif avatars?

Some of the animated avatars people use on here are ridiculously obnoxious.

I adblock the worst ones, but I guess I thought it would be nice if you could check a setting to not animate avatars. like display the first frame only, no animation.

unfortunately, i think the best i can do is disable it for everybody, which i would not like to do. your best bet is to kindly ask the person in question to change it.
