Shibuya- You were looking well in the NEC videos. I assumed you were mostly theory and limited execution. I was obviously wrong. =) You handled the May match VERY well. things like waiting on her to jump than executing the proper AA. Airthrowing her jumps... 2HS her jumps. Running 5P as AA FTW. lol. Your O could use some more...awesome. But your D/Mix-ups/strategy have come together well. =) I hope our crews get the chance to play sometime.

well frank the tank is a very solid may with his zoning etc....i did forget to punish his jumping 2hs with my 6p though.....but thanks for the complements....im still using may btw!!!! P.S i dont have a crew anymore...im in NC now and well...im basically an outsider cause they already have a crew....so im a free agent!!

Nonsense. We need a good Robo to fight, and you definitely fit that bill. You're always welcome to come play when we gather.

Hey all, I have a few more vids uploaded to yourtubs. I'm still in the process of modding my mayflash (since the button board crapped out from all my FRC pounding) so it's back to dualshock for these vids. I hope you can offer some more C&C! The uploader is basically a communal dump for the people I play with, so hopefully I can start inviting people over after winter break.

One thing I have a particular question about is all this air-footsie I'm playing with my opponents. A lot of the time they will do a jump or double-jump, and I'll 2k under them. Question I have is, should I be going for a throw instead of a cross-up?

Posted

It's probably best not to try to 2k under them. There are a lot of chars that have a j.HS or something that will always beat 2k if you try to cross them from under like Slayer or Dizzy. It might be better to try to grab them but if you miss you're probably gonna get counterhit into big damage. For most chars I try to just instant block it for tension then go for the grab when they land.

I guess no one has much to say about the vids. Whatever, I have a question: In some robo matches, I saw 5k > bazooka used in blockstrings. Is this unsafe, or just a relatively safe frame trap?

5k into bazooka isnt safe.....but alot of people just end of blocking it unless u are very predictable then u get punished....just my thoughts if u use 5k then bazooka and u are at level 3 i dont think u would get all 5 of the hits with the bazooka because you are too close to opponent...i would suggest doing 5k twice or 5k then 5s or even 5p bazooka....

As for those vids of your robo.....it seems u know what u are doing but....u dont block enough in my opinion....im only going off of the 1st robo vs order sol vid...robo ky is a zoning character/counter hit character....u did good with the 2hs i give u that....and at 132 in the vid i dont know what that was lol...1 tip that will help u win more is stop uppercutting and if its a habit learn the frc on it....and stop using 5hs alot too cause if they block it (u got lucky alot) u are going to get hit....remember after the bazooka (on 5 hits) u can jump and land with 5k or air dash to mix them up a bit....but all in all....not a bad robo ky!!!!!

Not to be a dick or anything but you I only watched the dizzy and the last vid of OS. You need to tell them to work on using anti air against you, cause if they don't then you will get into a habit of jumping way to much.

5k> Bazooka is ok at lvl 3 if they love to block but its not a comboable normally so its not safe.

on this youtube clip robo ky did something a lil weird around 1:20

I wonder what he was trying to do....ill mess around with that move thingy

what were you referring to? the falling j.s after the j.D?

if i have lv 3 bazookas i find it to be a little safer doing one to three 5k c.5s then bazooka

its still easily escapable but they tend to block after that cuz you can chain c.5s into a bunch of other stuff

that may have been a burst bait attempt, which also is pretty safe in terms of damage loss, because his BEAT didn't go dark. In the end it turned into a tech punish, though.

If you watch dogura vids a lot, especially recently, he often drops combos because of burst baiting.

EDIT: Yeah, and thanks for the reminder about the anti-airing thing. All of us have that problem where we jump because we just don't get anti-aired that often. I'm starting to get better at it with 2HS, and sometimes even 5p works, but using 6p has almost always failed me, so I'm kind of in a tight spot with robo, because 2HS is his most reliable anti-air but is also really punishable if not frc'd...and it's hard to FRC.

Posted

i know for a fact that wasn't a burst bait attempt.... the faust had no burst then and dogura's standard impossible dust burst bait dust combo is like 5D jump fd j.HS land then whatever he does

Posted

then it might have been a straight-up tech punish combo...since he altered the timing of j.S>HS so that he could super-jump right back up and air throw as the faust was mashing out of the combo

robo-ky can use his steam frc to combo into horsie or whatever he wants....just thought id share that cause i will be using that Formerly...ur RO is getting better :yaaay:

Thanks, shibuya...did you go ahead and watch the vids we uploaded without me even posting them?

Well, here they are anyway:

vs JO

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALLtA5C_6ZU

mainly to test a video codec, it should look a little better than the rest of the vids here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v74iffgXgk0

the highlight of the vid is the dustbreak mixup near the mid-end of the clip. tips on how to employ it better are appreciated.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChCJBZRxPqo

my favorite new vid...I've started pulling off the HS FRC combo a little better...now I just need to find other opportunities to employ it

vs PO

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxwQXnpW_Tg

a testament to my inexperience dealing with temkin, but I'm already at lot better for it.

vs OR

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OE19MVSkc54

this matchup has quickly become really tough. I think I may simply be whiffing unsafe moves way too often.

Feels kinda silly to be reaching this level of play as BlazBlue is on the rise, but if I give up GG, what would fill in the hole left by our beloved robot...?

yeah i did actually i went to youtube and went to recent vids and it showed up...but yeah GG will always surpass blazblue as far as technicality...i mean imma play BB but GG is just....so damn good

1.) Steer it down-diagonally toward them (3 or 1) a little bit first if you're going to use J.hs after activation. This allows you to land and combo easier. You can also try flying toward and command grabbing if your initial air pressure string is blocked and you think they won't mash something out. If you have extra meter to burn, try landing from your Force Break and going into 2s~5hs FRC. This is very deceptive looking as well. As always, because of tension penalties Force Break mixups are usually worth it if you have a chunk of meter, they're cornered, and don't have much life left. They usually slow Robo down too much to use in the middle of matches.

2.) If you find yourself dropping 5hs FRC combos vs Johnny, don't forget you sometimes have to throw in a 5©s in order to combo him up into the air.

3.) Try to get Potemkin into air tech trap situations with 2hs Knee Rockets. Try to guess which way they're going to tech and send another one right up after him. I'm notorious for doing stuff like 2hs Knee Rocket, FRC, dash back, 2hs Knee Rocket, FRC, dash forward, etc. Most of the time Potemkin is going to want to do J.d (The Ass) to get back onto the ground. Remember you can greet this with a Gold Burst! It's really not too tough.

Just one more piece of advice. Try to followup when you've landed a counterhit. I noticed you landed a SRK arc counterhit and could have definitely tacked on some extra damage. Also I seem to recall a 2hs Knee Rocket counterhitting a grounded opponent, you have hella time to followup after that.

Good work, keep it up!

Can someone record a slashback of the overheat and put it on youtube or something? I'm too busy doing other things to sit down and do it myself :psyduck:

If you're coming to EVO, and you main Tin-Man, post up. I missed out on playing against Spark and another Robot last year, want to make sure I have time to play some mirrors this July.
