apparently, there's hope yet for a console port.

Hey guys,

I went to karaoke tonight with my friend from sega japan who has some serious clout and pretty much told him everything I wanted to tell him about how we all want VF5r. I talked all about the VFDC community, how hardcore the members are, travelling thousands of miles from europe and australia for gatherings, etc and he was really surprised. He also told me that the opinion box that we've been sending emails to DOES work and every employee at sega including marketing and management gets those mails. So..... If you want VF5r, KEEP SENDING THE E-MAILS but... make sure they are different names and different IPs as there is an IP filter. He also told me that there is a development conference which will include sega japan, sega europe and sega USA and all the head honchos will be there to discuss what games will be made in the next 2 years. My opinion, if you guys really want R is to keep going with the emails but make sure you arent just sending 10 or 20 emails from the same IP with the same name. Also, you dont need to paste any japanese. Just 'virtua fighter 5r PS3 or xbox' is good enough. Lets try to get as many countries involved as possible. Thanks in advance, guys and gals.

in todays games i find that more or less 60 percent of my mains are top tier or high tier. eileen(S tier),amy(S tier,or so ive been told),rachel(S tier),asuka(apparently she's A tier)makoto(S/A tier) and then theres dizzy and liesselotte(c and d tier)and roll(roll tier) now,when i select these characters i choose them because i like what theyre wearing,but then i find that im using one of the games best characters im a little unhappy at everyone whining.but im also happy at knowing i can actually play compettively. now i dont really play vf,ive only played it once but eileen is my main(once i pick i don't really go back) i will eventually get it though since i always enjoy 1 on 1 fighting games.

Are you serious? 16 frames is a HUGE frame window. Do you honestly find that hard?

it's not a matter of being difficult, rather being used for combos off of launchers where it was previously unusable (though as i've since discovered, that was due to changes to the launchers themselves, not iaigeri).

to elaborate, the 16 frame window refers to the ability to g cancel, which can be either throw bait (as all moves in vf are throw invincible during startup) or the actual canceling of the recovery on the first active frame. so basically, do it from frames 1-15 and get a feint (think johnny 6K frc), do it on the 16th frame and get reduced recovery (think roman cancel).

both players in the match from that post missed iaigeri more than a few times.

Sega pisses me off. The only game that can compare to this in quality imo is GG. But hey, at least we see Akira is Mario Kart ver. Sega

Hope you guys don't mind me bumping this topic but the people over at VFDC are doing a "VF5R for console effort" and we need all the help we can get.

If you want VF5R to hit home consoles please help us by posting a message to Sega in this thread about why you want VF5R on console.

here's a question, why is VF so unpopular and something like tekken so popular? I have nothing against tekken, but I don't get why VF is so overlooked compared to that fighting game series.

VF is a victim of it's own fame. It's the deepest fighting game ever. So deep, no person can hope to master it! Don't even bother, just stay home, boy.

So go play Tekken, it got guns and devil wings and shit. Oh and check out that Tekken Force beat 'em up thing.

Though I think Tekken is harder to learn than Virtua Fighter. Since Tekken just has so much useless stuff to sift through. Then once you figure out what's good and what's not and can start building a gameplan, you still have just general Tekken randomness throwing noise at you.

hitboxes in 3d fighters generally piss me off, as does off-axis bullshit and tracking moves.

but at least tekken has a good oki game.
