When they gave Nu Lambda's abilities, I feel like they were saying: "There, now you have the best of both characters. You don't need Lambda anymore." Thereby making Lambda unnecessary. And when I compared movesets to each counter part, they made some restrictions. (ex. Not being able to use the C versions of her command attacks while in Luna mode) This was the only major thing to me, because having to switch modes to access the C feints was odd, considering Lambda could do it in CSE. I know, one mode is zoning and the other is *rushdown*'esque zoning. But if they wanted to go about it that way, I don't see why they couldn't have just let the individual characters represent said playstyle. When they change so many things, it's hard to tell what direction they wanted to go with Nu/Lambda.

I support Lambda being similar to Weiss with the sword equip thing. I just think she should contrast Nu in some way. Even her idle stance should be different.

Nu in BBCP was pretty rough on beginners, which is why a lot of people dropped her. But she's still fun to use from time to time.

I was always under the assumption that they removed Lambda due to story progression and replaced her with Nu. However, they made all of these changes to the original Nu and offered a new moveset when turning her into Lambda and figured they would return those moves to the new Nu so that players who enjoyed it would still have access to those moves. Lambda was more "rushdown" oriented than Nu though, so they tried to integrate both styles and characters into one to SAVE from having two extremely similar characters in the roster. So I guess "Obsolete" is kind of an odd way to put it as Lambda was removed entirely. The only way to play her would be Extend and yes, that would be and obsolete version.

I really like the idea of a rushdown type Lambda. She would require a new sprite though. The halo does well for different Nu forms, but it'll be hell on everyone if they have the same exact sprite with nothing but color differentiation to help.

Well canonly, when Nu fell into the cauldron with Ragna in CT, she was supposed to have died. That's when Lambda replaced Nu as the primary Murakumo Unit. And yes, I agree with the integration for the sake of similar characters. But what irks me is that they keep bringing them both back. Nu, Lambda, Nu, Lambda. It's like they don't know who they wanna keep, because for Nu to magically be revived is a bit.. absurd. And oh look, they magically brought back Lambda too! But talking about this does lead me to the conclusion that Lambda must be different in a major way. It doesn't make sense to integrate mode change with Nu to prevent two similar characters, and then bring said character back, y'know?

I agree completely. I am thinking she'll be pretty different. Her "new drive" is a large change if it is, in fact, a new drive. I thought we were done with the swapping between them as well. I'd be very happy to have her if she's packing a new drive mechanic. I'll end up subbing her regardless, but I'd like a different type of sword summoner. All we can do at this point is wait and see...and hope for the best. I think she deserves more than just being a Nu variation.

Truthfully, I don't understand Blazblue's story. It's so convoluted I can't make heads or tails of anything. But they did open the door to the most confusing things in story-telling: multiple worlds theory. So yes, Lambda and Nu can exist in the same universe somewhere, and maybe the "gameplay" is that world. I mean, Ragna lost an arm and magically got it back, Nu and Lambda magically coming back seems totally canon.

Anyways, knowing ASW, Lambda will be significantly different than Nu, since they're known for different characters and all. Sure Nu, Mu, Lambda all have pretty much the same normals up to a certain point (even their health, move speed, backdash, etc are the same) but they're still way different. So I have faith.

My lambda is coming back?! I am irrationally excited for this.

Like holy shit.

Give me my backdash combos back from CSE, they were fun!

Ever consider that Nu could get redesigned too in the upcoming edition/patch that comes along with adding Lambda?

What if they gave them both their own unique tools, (Lamb-chops gets Luna form stuff, Noodles-13 gets Dia stuff) and added additional tools that complement their individual playstyles?

Nu could finally have a non-schizophrenic playstyle again.

While that's a logical approach, I feel like they wouldn't do that after spending all that time with the mode change design stuff they did in the first place.

It's quite possible, but this is assuming that Nu will be changed along with all of the other characters in the next balance patch. I'm not sure how we'll get the two new characters, but I'm willing to bet they'll be DLC packs. (ala CS2 DLC)

On another note, think Lambda will get a new theme along with a stage?

Posted

A theme song maybe, but I'd be surprised if she got a stage. They'll probably just default her to Nu's.

My soul hurts right now.

I don't expect Lambda to play too differently from Extend, but I feel like it would be a waste of space to just copypaste her back in, so they have to change her up somehow. It would be nice if she got her old stage back or got a Secter Seven lab stage or something.

But it pains me so to know that I'll refuse to play as her (until/unless the peppermint colors are brought back).

Calling it right now: Lambda's Drive will be Sword Satellite.

I did some thinking on this, and I have a small presumption. Homing swords that cover your approach as you rushdown your opponent. It further illustrates a more aggressive playstyle. Is that what you had in mind?

Did people honestly hate Nu's mode change from CP? She's the most fun, most balanced iteration of her.

She has no more story relevance so it's probably an import. If it's a new moveset, it better have more variety and better framedata than CSE.

Mode changing is a pain online. That's the only problem I have with it. I just came back to her though.

Lambda looks pretty buffed there in that picture.

I'm uncertain about the boundary between speculations and taking a stab in the dark, or even if that boundary is something I need concern myself with in this thread, however...

Calling it now she's gonna have a gravity well that puts them in zero gravity instead of high gravity or a version of Nu's 236236D that goes vertical instead of horizontal.

I was thinking of something similar like her other DD (632146D?) coming out horizontal instead of vertical, but that would make it similar to Izayoi's 236236C.

In the new version, Nu won't have mode change.

Relevant post is relevant.

Also I freekin' called it, if anyone cares.

I don't even- so you make mode change, and then remove it? I'm so done.

But in any case I'm happy, each character has their individual attributes, and that's the way I like it.

Posted

So Nu will just use Dia Forma while Lambda uses Luna? That's both lame for Lambda and a large setback to Nu mains.

Oh well it keeps them significantly different from one another.

Posted

They're prolly gonna get crazy buffs and new moves and combos to boot. This is hardly a bad thing.

Now these speculation are bad for my heart not having mode change, you sorta lose that awesomeness with mode change, i rather they keep nu in tact as she is, and just have lambda with her indiividuality.

Now I'm just against story having an impact on fighting games it's just silly.
