Several Questions I have for Linne that i hope someone could help solve.

1) Vs Orie how do i deal with her Divine Slash B+C move thats an overhead it doesn't seem punishable on Block but i can kinda punish it with a read from 6C oki

2) How many overheads does Orie have, after blocking a string she seems to continue pressure on me by using the Persona super that creates a light ball

3) Best counter poke Linne has? Cr.A has no range and the startup not really good for counter-poking so i was wondering what can i do instead Cr.B?

4) Orie hits like a truck lol

I can't help with Orie, but the best counter poke Linne has really seems to depend on range. 2A and 2B, if they're in range, are ok, but not what I would call great (I don't really think there are any "great" counter pokes in this game from what I've seen). From further out, 2C can work, and so can 5C. I especially like 5C's hit box, but it's slow for a counter poke.

In theory, I think 5B should be ok as a counter poke -- pretty fast with decent range -- but I haven't really experimented with it yet. 5A might work better than 2A because the range is better. But with any standing normals, there's a risk in opening yourself open to being poked low.

If they're in close exploiting too many lows, jumping and immediately doing j.2B can work. Assault and tk Kouga can work to counter low pokes from farther away. On the whole, though, countering your opponent seems really situational in this game, and nothing is that good on its own.

I think the best way out may usually to be patient with blocking and find the right time to shield and then counter. Pretty similar to Melty Blood in that regard.

Also, anyone got any initial opinions on matchups? My Linne is still pretty weak, but here are my impressions:

Bad matchups: Waldstein, Gordeau, maybe Eltnum

Even matchups: Merkava, Nanase, possibly Akatsuki (he seems decent against Linne, but I'm still learning the matchup), maybe Vatista (not really sure on this one -- she's good at keeping Linne out, and her flash kick is strong, but I think Linne's got ways to deal with her)

Good matchups: Yuzuriha (maybe? seems like she dies really fast once you get in), Hyde, Chaos, Seth (this one might be even -- when I play it online I lose, but then, when I play it offline, I seem to do pretty well)

Unknown matchups because I haven't played enough: Anyone not listed above.

Anyway, that's my (probably dubious) take on things. Thoughts?

I've played pretty close to 200 netplay games now and I think so far Vatista and Carmine. I've played offline as well but the players were just getting into it so they weren't as good.

Anyway on netplay Vatista is a huge pain. Dash and blocking seems like it doesn't work most of the time against VA/MK but it's probably not so bad offline.

As for Carmine I think he would be a problem even offline. His jump move (j.C?) is the answer to beat literally everything you could do besides DP if you're right under him, which normally he will do that move out of range for DP and in range for his attack. His pressure is good and seems really autopilot but I'm learning where to poke out. His damage is great. He has a command grab reversal and also some move where he just jumps straight up and throws something down at you which is a good escape when u have pinned him down. Don't know how to deal with anything he does yet really.

I have fought only 2 or so Waldsteins but I'm sure it's bad as well from watching the JP Linnes fight watanabe.

Akatsuki is super honest, maybe like 5.5 in Linne's favor just because better normals.

Fought 1 Yuzu so no idea on that one.

Seth, Chaos are w/e. I don't think I've lost to a Seth yet but he has to do so much then I just touch him 2 or 3 times and I won. Probably need to fight better Seths to be sure but It's probably even at worst. Chaos seems pretty even as well. Orie, Nanase, Hyde, Hilda, Eltnum also feel even or close to it.

I don't think I've even fought good Gords yet and I can already feel it's gonna be bad. But I think I'd rather fight him than a really good Merk/Wald/Vat/Carmine

Gonna go ahead and add Byakuya as an annoying MU for Linne. Bigger normals, more screen control, similar damage output, get on top of him and he's pretty much done. I fought a good bya prolly 10 times tonight and just tried out different stuff almost every time and heres what I learned:

Roll loses to webs

His air normals beat yours, in both air to air and air to ground.

There is pretty much no way to stop him from doing the super high web set then jump at you. You could maybe risk DPing while he's coming to you but my DP lost to his straight down air attack or just whiffed and a web caught me.

You have to kill webs with attacks. 6C is a good one to do it with since it covers so much of the screen.

I don't think he has any reversals so once your in your free to do what ever, just remember if you can reach him then he can reach you too.

You can try to get him to mispace some of his super long range ground normals than Kuuga punish.

I didn't try doing something like double jump dive kick though so I'll try it next time. There's probably other things I wasn't doing that would help so if anyone has any ideas leme know!

Rolling through Merk's fireballs is a great way to get in.

Once you're inside, you gotta make sure to stay inside. EX Kuuga is a great way to apply pressure that reaps huge rewards on hit.

If Merk's trying to zone you with 5C and 214A, Shield and build Grid/Meter.

j.C is one of the few moves in the game that can hit Merk out of his j.66.

Remember that you have a DP. If Merk tries to rush you down, make him pay for it.

Definitely in Merk's favor, but Linne has some good tools to deal with him.
