RurouniLoneWolf Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Post footage of your matches here to receive advice and suggestions about how to improve. Please be sure to be respectful with your critique as well as accepting other people's critique. We're all here to become as strong as we can be with Rise so treat each other in a manner befitting a comrade in arms. But RurouniLoneWolf, I don't have any equipment to record the replays of my matches! Ah, an understandable yet troublesome problem to have. Here's a few quick tips to get the footage you need by other means Lots of people like to stream open netplay lobbies in our anime community. Try playing in one of these open lobbies and then use the stream archive with a time stamp as your footage for critique Similar to the above idea, you can also try entering streamed local or netplay tournaments or ranbats. Not as good as the previous option because time constraints mean you won't necessarily play on stream but it's still an option. Nag as annoyingly as possible Politely ask someone you know who has recording equipment to play a set and record the footage for you. If all else fails, you can try recording your footage on your phone or camera. The quality doesn't have to be good enough to be a Hollywood Blockbuster, just needs to be good enough that people can see what's going on and give proper critique.
Sadeyo Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fQGRA_0Xj4&list=UUSWFwW7yDCCwwajY97IaZ3w I know I'm a scrub but this is basically your day 1 performance after completing challenge mode 1-15. Feel free to critique or just enjoy the video, I'll browse the combo thread later on and brush up in the training room again.
Sadeyo Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nySISGczJS4&feature=youtu.be Another dosage of my Promiscuous Idol and I'm still playing off of instinct. This performance is much better and there are plenty of laughs to be enjoyed with a mix cast to go up against. Sad that there's no victories but I do feel like I deserved some of them. Enjoy the video or feel free to critique.
MegaBlues Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nySISGczJS4&feature=youtu.be This looks really good! Your use of Arrow Rain is nice, but you're not capitalizing well off of the opportunities you get. I also think that regular Rise would do a lot better for you, since you never make use of Shadow Burst. You also need to practice that dance super. You can cheat on it too and just use one button linked to AB and one to CD, or one button linked to ABCD if you're comfortable mashing it to the rhythm. Also, against characters like Chie and Aigis, Tetra/Makarakarn will help a -lot-.
Sadeyo Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFs3nSaEfCk&feature=youtu.be I just realized I'm playing Rise wrong the whole time and not capitalizing on her persona and normal combination. Die-chan makes some pretty sick combinations compared to the small things I put together, I take back the small talk about her positioning on the tier list. This is the last of my impulsive performance so the next videos will be more of an understanding instead of zoning with her. Enjoy the video or feel free to critique.
Sadeyo Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XeVc9TY5zg Rise is more of a lock down character instead of getting the most of your damage off any confirms. Netting 3K with her on average is close to impossible unless you know which SB skill to do next and you're not holding onto that heat as often as you want. Every match tends to be uphill due to her lack of reward, I explain in more detail but too many distractions. Please enjoy the video.

While it's true that being too aggressive can lead to you getting blown up, if you're too passive and don't control your space, then you just end up rolling out a red carpet for your opponent to just walk in and start pressure like the Yukari did at the beginning of the match. You need to find a balance between being aggressive and being passive. Though, you shouldn't worry too much about it now. The balance will come naturally with time and experience so long as you keep reviewing your play. - There was some good uses of sweep as a poke in this match but I'm not sure C Platinum Disc is the best followup, at least in this matchup. Feels like knocking Yukari full screen away is the opposite of what we want in this matchup. Consider going for 236B Oki instead? - @ 2:30 Choose when to DP carefully. Your opponent's options are limited at this range and in the air, giving you safer alternatives in this situation. - Finally, I don't think I saw you finish one combo. That's okay. We're all like that when we first start out. Just be sure to set aside some time in training mode to practice every now and then and you'll get there. Well done, keep at it. Good luck and be sure to have fun!
