I honestly never noticed she didn't have heels until now. Such boots are some kind of japanese fashion, the character designer didn't invent it. This fashion was brought to Europe and USA too, so that's quite possible to walk without heels. A bit of practice solves everuthing.. btw, Taokaka doesn't has heels at her shoes too.
