Xrd -- question about DLC longevity

So, after fucking up my stick, I'm considering dropping my Xrd pre-order until I either get it fixed or replaced. However, a friend informed me of the (week one?) character DLC that will be free for early buyers. I'm not familiar with how ASW handles DLC, especially given their history of releasing multiple titles in a game series (see: GGX2 followed by five updates). So, I'm just wondering, if I do get the game and the DLC, will future iterations of the game keep these characters locked like MVC3? Or do DLC characters become part of the regular roster and new DLC characters are introduced? 

 

Also, I read a comment on some Xrd news post that voice language will be DLC. I can't find anywhere else that confirms this to be true or false. Hopefully it's not true?

DLC characters become part of the regular roster.  Makoto, Valkenhayn, and Platinum were DLC characters for Blazblue: Continuum Shift, then were regular characters in Continuum Shift Extend and are still regulars in Chrono Phantasma.  Now they could break this trend, but there's no way of knowing if they will at the moment.

 

I believe you're thinking of the character announcer packs.  Think Sol shouting "Duel 1" and stuff.

Hmm. Well, perhaps waiting isn't so bad then. I'll keep thinking about it, though waiting a few weeks won't kill me. Really wish my stick was working so I wouldn't have to make this decision.

While the DLC is free, you can download it even without owning the game. It'll stay registered to you, and you can use it once you do get the game.

Exactly so, but to be sure, Elphelt will be free on launch week on the US PSN store, though for how long hasen't been announced by Aksys yet. (I'm guessing though she will be only available as a DLC code in 1st Print JP copies along with the extra songs thing, and then probably purchaseable later [or at launch] on there.)

 

For in-game stuff though, Sin is an unlockable and a couple songs can be unlocked somehow if they're doing an in-game currency system similar to P4AU and BB:CP. For the situation on Leo though, that will have to wait for more announcements to come.

Yes, and yes, if you mean the US/NA release that had the sticker that mentions "Free Terumi DLC", but only for US/NA PSN accounts that can DL it, of course, and the same region game. (Though yes, you can go back to your other region accounts at any time and still play it as normal.)
