[Xrd] Axl Low - Video Critique Thread, Watch the chains fly
Tsuki Garyuu replied to APinkBuny's topic in Axl Low
I guess it's time for my own critique platform. I haven't been playing Xrd for days straight, so feeling rusty is all too common. Nevertheless, you don't have to go point-by-point in my matches unless you really want to, just bear in mind that: 1. Chipps and Millias are my worst enemies. Hell, even Slayers and Mays to some extent, but I can learn more about how to deal with them. 2. I just can't into the habit of using my counters unless I'm in the mood. 3. That said, I AM trying to get into the habit of using 2K as my supposed anti-air. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WrQSQABVnA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFcBXWKCALY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lr7-Qtx47wk -
If I didn't know any better, I'd have referred his theme as Jago's "Dragon Install Theme."

If UNIEL Had an English Dub...
Tsuki Garyuu replied to JyakotuKurayami's topic in Under Night In Birth
Well then... Hyde: Erik Kimerer or Grant George Lynn: Christine Cabanos Waldenstein: Richard Epcar Carmine: Edward Bosco. A bit of a gamble, but if he's capable of laughing mad like hell, then he's more than just a compatible voice. Orie: Marieve Herington Gordeau: Ian Sinclair Merkava: Chris Tergliafera Vatista: Kira Buckland Seth: Lucien Dodge Yuzuriha: Stephanie Sheh Hilda: Lauren Post Sion: Erika Harlacher Chaos: Sean Chiplock Akatsuki: David Vincent Nanase: Who cares? Byakuya: Amanda Celine Miller -
So I tested this in training mode and found out that this scenario gets me countered after all, just that the damage is very little and inconsequential. Yup, SS is weak against all projectiles.
-
Yes, actually. It's the music note, sorry for not being specific. I've seen this twice, the second time I actually tested mid-battle. When an SS attack hits the note as it's shot, I couldn't do the stance anymore. Why? Because by destroying the note--by clashing with it--my SS was literally canceled, putting me back to neutral. I felt this would give me a recovery advantage, so I tried to counter an incoming I-no (I failed, though lol). A video of my Ino matches should still be in my replay theater, I should look back at those and perhaps show them to you.
-
I feel SS is underdeveloped for having a both a hit and hurt box, mainly towards projectiles. Again, it can clash and destroy I-no's yet it has no benefit towards anything else.
-
Curious: What are all the projectiles that Sparrowhawk Stance can either destroy or clash with? It's disappointing that when a SS attack hits the I-no projectile, I'm reset to neutral and yet many other projectiles counter it. What could have been an extremely dangerous skill doesn't have that many advantages beyond a guessing game.

I've fought Venom quite a lot in Xrd. I may have a DP, but even then trying to find an opening in the middle of his pressure. I've fought two kinds of Venom's: long-rangers who close in when needed (say, a teleport) and the one who uses the balls as an excuse to get close. I think anyone can tell which one is more dangerous. Still, I've always tried to poke him a lot as he sets and also never giving him a chance mid-range. So far, my only best strategy is poking Venom whilst looking for an opportunity to catch him for a simple combo. Some players tend to jump a lot with this one. And if you're real desperate to close in on him, a simple 2P > 6H, 2H > 6H, or following either low attacks after an RRC can help. I feel Axl's odds (or my odds, rather) with a Venom is 4-6 generally.

Sounds like what Slayer plays in the background of his own castle. lol

Kirk Thornton. And yes, it's quite inconsistent.

No one's stopping you.

Rise of Incarnates (Bandai Namco Games/PC/F2P)
Tsuki Garyuu replied to SoWL's topic in Misc Fighter Central
Ugh, finally. The game seemed to have gotten more interesting the moment they included Erendira. -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZN374Dft2x4 Omen trailer. Interestingly has a metal scream version of Jago's theme.
-
Ditto.
-
Ah, Robo-Ky. All these years and Ky will never live that down.
-
Hyperbole. Of course Overture carried over to Xrd story-wise, but the game itself, tis but a figment of the imagination. Or at least that's what I'd like to believe that's what Daisuke thought when I first saw Communications being reused.
-
! Really? Didn't sound like it came from Overture, sound quality wise. Damn does Daisuke want to forget Overture was a thing.
-
I'm more curious as to how much further he can get as far as variety goes. After all this time in his career, prog metal will be cinch, though that may be used for a whole other Arcsys game.
-
I gotta say, Daisuke must have had a lot of leg room to come up with a song like the Replay Theater theme. When you bother to stop and listen, it feels like it came way outta left field; a handful of instruments that you didn't expect Daisuke to use. Folk xylophone? Retro electronic tunes? Fucking bagpipes? Those were bagpipes, right (Edit: Though knowing the bass scratch, that part must have been meant to be humorous)?? This was quite a well done mix too. I can see the dude's attempting to adapt and evolve through the use of different instruments and styles (as seen in Sin and Leo's theme). It means quite a lot when menu music (not just the RT song, but the Lobby one, and the title screen too) makes browsing through said menus worth while.

From the prelude alone, I can tell it's better. The main guitar is, just as you said, not as loud as before. You've used different guitar sounds which were better than the old ones, much like the rhythm guitar at 1:14. Also, major points for that chiptune; love it. The mixing is also better and there's more balance. Maybe a little too balanced? Having heard a lot of prog metal, I tend to notice that much of the guitar parts are lessened by the consonance (or perhaps dissonance) of the sounds of other instruments, making the guitars lack punch. It's been a long time since I took a music appreciation class, so this could be a moot point with this cover. Overall, still a better cover than the first. I still really like this one.

Every time, I must feel betrayed when the real lyrics show up. Truly Engrish is the ultimate troll of the language. Jokes aside, this isn't so bad in the grammar and syllable department. There's more of that here than in those L.A./N.A. vocal lyrics of either GG or BB. I can live with "READY OR NOOOOOOOOOOT!" but not... Time to recognize I shall sit here and watch your die in pain. Here I sympathize for you living in a deadend maze

I really think Ed knew how much of a weaboo Chipp is that he took that trait and ran with it. So much ham and cheese in his performance. He's quite alright in my book.
-
You really had me thinking those were details of the GGXrd soundtrack. I bet that's what you were thinking upon making this post. Joking asides, Hard Corp Uprising's OST is fine too...though I wonder why it took this long.

I'm thinking more of Ram being a "reminder" of Sol. I'm pretty sure at some point, Ram will be deemed completely disposable to Ariels that she may personally end up disowning her as her "mother" and seek vengeance for it as well as Ariels forcing El against her will, thus Ram will experience anger for the first time. Hell, she might as well unlock her "Install" mode since El has one.
-
Udine, you mean. Anyway, ever notice something about Ariels that's a quite contradicting? We've been led to believe that she's El and Ram's "mother." If she really isn't, if she's faking to be the Universal Will, that kinda questions the Valentines' very existence. This was kinda my thought process, since she's not the Universal Will. Valentines are supposedly spawns of Aria/Justice. ---Then what the hell is Ariels? ---Did she make them herself? Dunno how she would have that kind of power to make potential WMD's like the first Valentine who took the likeness of Justice and generated power from the backyard. Valentines "supposedly" don't have emotions. ---Why is Ariels so surprised when she finds out they do? ---Were they not supposed to? That functionality should not have been included in the first place. But I guess in cloning blues, they somehow have to. ---Guess Ariels never "made" them. For all I care, they might have been either found or El and Ram, in particular, are Ariels' "daughters." Guess that explains their skin tone and hair color after all.
