yeah the YLOD can be deadly indeed but my personal guess is that your power supply unit fried since technically you don't see a yellow light, or blinking lights or any of the sort try to see if that's the case, that shouldn't be hard to replace if it's the YLOD however then you'll have to take it for repair good luck with your PS3
