  1. Well, It looks Like i'll arrive too late for gg. I'll still be there for bb.
  2. So, is there a tourney this sunday?
  3. More importantly, given the test Angel did, lag shouldn't matter. Input lag shouldn't change the timing of the combos. It certainly feels like there is less input lag on the 360 than the ps3, but that's not where the difference should be coming from. Given Angels test as an example, even if his displays had different amount of input lag, and the chimp and 360 pcb have different inherent input lag, the timing, in terms of miliseconds between each button press, should be identical, as he is using the same physical inputs on the same buttons. All the lag differences should do is change when each combo starts, not whether the combo lands or not.
  4. I don't know how many people have used both the 360 and ps3 version of bbcs, but the versions certainly feel different. I was told a few weeks ago that this difference was not only caused by input lag, but that xbox version ran "faster" than the ps3 or arcade version. Angel(http://www.dustloop.com/forums/member.php?9642-Angel) plugged his arcade stick into both consoles at the same time and posted his results (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swzvuwV9EZk), which indicates that there is some sort of non input lag based timing difference between the two (if the problem was only input lag, the combo's would still hit, just a few frames offset). So I captured the challenge mode demonstrations of a few combos, and synched them by the first move connecting. ( You can download the file I'm looking at http://www.mediafire.com/?3164z6dwi8ouc41 and watch it frame by frame (using vlc or premiere or anything)) I've been trying to find a pattern or explanation, and I haven't found one. (The third combo shown, Off Hakumen's J.D. is clearly different, but it could be that the timing on that combo is lenient enough that both variations work). Does anyone have any information (preferably testable) on what differences in timing there are between the different console versions?
  5. Yeah, Angel, I didn't make that one. Back to the conversation we were having earlier, If you want to look at this http://www.mediafire.com/?3164z6dwi8ouc41 frame by frame you can look for differences in terms of timing, etc, between ps3 and 360. I can't tell from that, but It certainly feels like there is an input lag difference between the 360 and ps3 as well. Does your camera record in 60fps? (If so, do moves start a frame earlier on the 360 than the ps3 when your stick is hooked up to both?)
  6. 3rd weekend works best for me. (I'll be a spectator at SCR, and Norcal is too far away.) Also, aren't the 2nd and 4th weekends going to be when FFA is doing its biweekly thing?
  7. Soo, casuals tomorrow. Who plans on going?
  8. I don't know if there's any desire, but I have a pinnacle usb video device (records sd input onto thumbdrives in .mp4 format) and a ps2/ps3/xbox cable with two video outs. I can bring it with me to add to a GG setup (or a bb setup that's not in hd) if anyone wants to easily upload matches to youtube afterwards.
  9. Yeah. It's me. GG's as well. I have a thing I'm doing this friday so I won't be at AI but I'm planning on going to burnt toast this weekend. http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?9985-Burnt-Toast-III-Socal-BB-GG-MB-Monthly-Oct-23 (I don't know if it's too far away/ too early in the morning for you, but just thought you should know)

  10. What does it look like in challenge mode when you have the game demonstrate combos? (The differences in timing between the two is obvious, but every individual animation looks the same, from what I can tell. ). For them to run at different speeds, either the 360 needs to not display certain frames, or the the ps3 needs to re-display "filler frames" . I've looked at hd footage captured from the ps3 version, and I haven't seen any duplicate frames. Unless something really weird is going on, and the xbox version has a difference move speed/ gravity than the ps3 version. Also, we probably really should move this conversation out of this thread.
  11. By faster, do identical moves have different animations between ps3/360? (does the 360 version skips frames or something?) Has anyone done a side by side or frame by frame comparison on this? This is fascinating.
  12. Hmm, it's not all that hard to add lag to a setup if that's the only way timing is different between the versions. The easiest way I can think of is to lag test your lcd monitor on your computer with different resolutions (the standard method involves running a stopwatch program on a crt and lcd at the same time) , find one that adds about 50 milliseconds of lag, then use the xbox vga cable at that resolution. And while lag messes up hitconfirms, etc, combo timing is usually memorized (I usually play on a display with about 1.5 frames of lag, and I don't drop combo's any more often in the arcade that on my usual setup).
  13. This sub-discussion probably belongs somewhere else, but now I'm curious: By how many frames (and in what direction) is the 360 version off from the arcade? (I know that there's a frame a of lag on the ps3 version of sf4 compared to the 360, which is one of the reasons sf4 players prefer 360.)
  14. The competition map is down. Probably for good. Does anyone know of an alternative page/program?
  15. All of these frame advantage/disadvantage number are done visually (frame counting off a capture card), so take them, like the info on the previous post with a grain of salt. wolf a is +3 on block wolf b is -4 j.a. Is -2 on block J.B. is -2 on block I think is 236a/ J.236a is about -6 but I'm probably wrong . (it's too hard to figure out what's a recovery frame and what's a landing frame). 236B/ J.236b looks like +5 on block 236 A/ J236A and 236b/ J236b look to be the exact same moves, with the same attributes (including being airborn during startup). Does anyone who's better with Tager care to test this more thoroughly?
  16. In wolf mode A. has 6 frame startup B. has 10 frame startup J.A. has 6 frame startup J.B. has 7 frame startup 236.A has 22 frame startup 236.B has 22 frame startup J. 236.A has 22 frame startup J 236.B has 22 frame startup
