  1. Thank you both for your replies. Oddly enough, Nemesis, Mu was one of the few characters I was fairly successful with as far as challenge mode goes. I was able to do most of the combos except for the last few, and I really liked her playstyle. Every time I got into a match though I seemed to crumble, because I wasn't sure in what direction I should be trying to take the match. The bit about character loyalty and emotions does hit me hard though, I love using Tager and used him through every iteration of BB, but honestly muscle memory is a real pain for me and I can't seem to shake it, and end up screwing myself over for it. I suppose that is something I need to just overcome through sheer repetition. That and his Atomic Collider combos are kind of tough for me. Tari, thank you for your insight. One of my biggest issues was just not having a beginning point for anything I would do in attempts to learn a character, which led to me getting frustrated in my attempts to pick anyone up as I never feel what I had accomplished is good enough to take into a real match. I feel like if I can't do optimal combos then my ability is not worth enough to be using against other people and continually get annoyed in not being able to perform at the level I want to. Once again I really appreciate the advice and will see if I can make something happen and will report back when I do.
  2. Hey all, sorry for the broad question. I've been playing fighters for a long time, mostly Street Fighter style fighters. In those games it clicks with me how to learn characters, learn spacing, basic combos, etc... Maybe because at face value they are slower paced and more simple to learn. But I've always struggled with anime fighters. I bought BBCT when it first came out and used Tager for a very long time, but he was such a simple character to pick up (but difficult to really master), and I've never been able to use anyone else at a level that could be considered competent. I really want to get back into BB as someone else but I'm so stuck on how to begin learning a character. I try going into challenge mode, get as far as I can, but I feel as if just learning combos won't help (nevermind my execution is ass and I can't really perform a lot of them). I guess what I'm trying to ask is, what do I focus on to really start to "pick up" a character? I really appreciate the help, thank you in advance.
  3. I know this is kind of a lame question, but what are 1 or 2 good go-to combos I should work on? I know there's a combo thread but I always get so overwhelmed at so many combos I never know what to stick with. Thanks in advance.
  4. I'm trying to learn how to play as Valkenhayn but I'm struggling because I'm not sure of how to start. What is a good foundation to build upon with him to begin the learning process (i.e. a solid combo to start out with, any kind of helpful tips)? Thanks in advance and I apologize if my question is too broad.
  5. I guess. I had no idea how or when to get out of his pressure strings when I'm sandwiched, either. I know I should avoid the situation completely but I can't always. At what point do I jump out? Backdashing never worked because Nivrana cockblocked me.

  6. Actually, yeah. I did the throw> B Sledge> 5C> 5D combo on him once or twice.

  7. Well he swept me the first round because I got too aggressive and was not very experienced with Carl. Second round, I played a little more cautiously and got some lucky hits on him so I swept him that round. Final match it was 2-2 both sides and he had bursted on me while I had him cornered, I tried to roll 720 and he fuoco'd me.

  8. According to frame data, she's +19 on block. Unless I'm reading this wrong.
  9. Depending on the range, if a Bang player tries his D shurikens your 6A will null them all and hit him for CH. Usually if he tries to TK them.

Kind of dumb question, but sometimes after hitting someone, then immediately going into a 720 I'll get a pink !!, BUT, I see them clearly attacking me indicating they're not in hit/blockstun (for example.. Ragna's 5B was in the middle of the animation yet it still gave them the chance to break) What's the deal with that?
  11. I guess this is more of a general question but what are the advantages of quick rise versus neutral tech, and does it have any useful applications for Tager?

  14. A neat little tidbit I found out. If you jump and do Tager's j.2C literally a split second before you hit the ground, it comes out instantly. Don't know if it's really of any use but I figured I should share it with you guys anyway.
  15. Is the 720 techable outside of block/hitstun? I hear people claiming it is, but I don't believe it.
  16. This matchup more often than not gives me trouble, since all of Hakumen's C have huge range and come out faster than mine. Plus that airdash C is a pain enough. Any advice?

  19. EX characters are mostly broken. Anji gets his Autoguard super from just blocking, and Zappa can choose what summon he wants.

  21. The way I see it is that Corners add a whole element of strategy and risk to the game. Getting out of it and how to get your opponent in, ect. And the rewards for getting them into the corner are oh-so great. Moreso for big Pot.
  22. You can easily fight without the wall. Getting them to the wall isn't exactly easy. I don't see how it's unethical to use the wall, because they can use the wall on you too.
  23. Here's a stupid question. Does Anji's Kou (P at Autoguard) have invincibility? I have really no way to test it, but I'm just curious I guess.
  24. If she hits the bubble with another attack, it pops, and if it hits you, it floats you and is untechable, I believe. Basically to setup air combos I would assume.
