Duodecim Dissidia Final Fantasy Thread

Yeah.. I think that was a deviantart fanart for the first game.. Wishful thinking though. My Wishlist: (4's already been done, so we won't be seeing that) 5 - Gilgamesh, no question. Wouldn't be opposed to Faris in a different class. 6 - Locke. Or Celes. 7- Red XIII. It'll NEVER happen, but I'd be the happiest person alive if this happened. 8 - Seifer for a Squall rival, and Rinoa alongside. 9 - Vivi. Wheres the magely love? X - Auron would be totally badass here. Seymour/Yuna would also be ideal. XI - Don't look at me, I don't play this. XII - Chances are we're gonna probably see Ass Bandit here because he IS the main character.. even though I'd rather see Ashe. XIII - Snow, maybe? And some other wishes: Ramza Beoulve, Agrias Oaks, and Delita as Ramza's opponent. -
And I miss CT CS2! I'm gonna like that its coming back in. Fun-ness is all about Tao, IMHO. Also, one of these days I need to get around to uploading vids of my gameplay or something. I fear something is severely lacking because I just got wrecked in mirror last night.

My main is Tao and my decision to main her came out of nowhere. I honestly didn't take this game very seriously at first and was actually very annoyed with losing constantly online because I'm used to picking up mostly any game relatively fast and I lost dozens upon dozens of games when I started. I began with Rachel, watched a few moves and realized that there is WAY too much going on (Lobelia placement, George usage, keeping bats, sylpheed gauge, etc) for me to enjoy using her at a high end. I didn't win much with her and it disappointed me immensely. I blamed the fact that she might just be too difficult for me to learn perfectly and quit the game for a couple of months. So around the time I got back from Ohayocon, I was watching some people playing Blaz in my university's game room and I keep on thinking.. well.. I'd like to get better and learn how to play at a higher level.. so maybe I'm just going about this the wrong way. I admit when I played, I knew a lot about a lot of characters.. Except Tao. I never really took the time to understand how she played, what she did, how to do it. Nobody on campus played her either. Said she was a useless, boring character (Granted a lot of players on my campus to this day are still ridiculously shallow about anything in fighting games, so I just ignore them for the most part) So I went home from class that night, did my homework and popped in Blaz for the first time in a few months. Fallout 3 was taking over my life prior to that.. so you can see how I wouldn't have the drive to play Blaz anyways, and I took the crazy cat lady into Training.. I messed with her move sets, her techniques and came here and read a lot on how to use her. I analyzed videos and pretty much kept what I was doing a secret.. after all, people on campus really didn't know I played much. The further drive on getting better came a couple weeks later when I found a hori joystick in a package addressed to me. Shock and awe appealed to me as I trained my Tao on this new device. On campus, I'm one of the better players now. I still can't keep up with a few players, but all the scrubs pretty much won't play with me now. Say that because I'm playing a stick I'm imbalancing their rotation.. Pssssh. In short. I like Tao for a multitude of reasons. I actually did find her funny the first time I played, just never really got around to using her. I like her naive, yet carefree personality and her "lol" moments. She's a blast to play, and I enjoy the difficulty behind playing her because I've had to work to get up to the mediocre level I am with her. And yes. I keep english voice overs on. I think Philece Sampler does an awesome job portraying overly hyperactive kitty cats of doom.

This befuddles me. So basically the one thing that kind of makes Tao.. Tao, is irrelevant now? I understand a fair bit of the buffs they gave her.. but isn't Taunt Loop her primary form of assault? I don't really see anything else on that list that they made better barring health that would change her assault. I'm still only mediocre with Tao, so I'm not completely unignorant. Enlighten me!

Got a question for the Tao vets. I've been finally managing to utilize some TL into my game play (at long last.. got a friend into a 17 last night), but there was another thing bothering me when I was watching film recently, and I know it would help against the lighter weight characters (Litchi/Carl) I was noticing in a few games where you would normally j.2D~6, J.236BBBBB an opponent to finish a combo, that some times there was j.2D~6, J.236B, J.2D~6, J.236B,J.2D~6,J. 236BBBBB. How the HECK do you do that? Is there a timing thing on that? It seems like so much input to put within 2-3 seconds.

I'd have come down if I wasn't in the middle of trying to become better with Tao so I didn't look like utter fail. Fortunately, it worked.

Nice Ragna sword! Looks akin to what my friend's been putting together the last month. Really awesome!

Also don't forget that Carl is slowly losing his own mind to Nirvana as well due to the strains of the Nox, which also biases him quite a bit. For all we know, his own memories of his sister are decaying along with what morality she might have once had. Also, Nirvana could have just attacked Noel as a defensive mechanism for what Carl saw to be Nu in the previous game. He had a flashback of Nirvana being destroyed from his bad ending, and we don't know what Nirvana is allowed to know. Perhaps she just saw Noel as Mu-11, and was like WHOAMG PROTECT CARL.

^ 236BBBBB isn't like CT 236BB, 236 BBBB. You have to be at a good angle, and it also can depend on who you're fighting against due to their fall speed/hitbox, which makes for learning Tao's original non TL B&B's a little more arduous. From what I remember, this is why Tao can't rely on Drive Loop combo's anymore, because the damage you get from CS2 isn't as easy as it used to be. For example, use two different characters as Training dummies. The first is Jin, the second is Litchi. If you were to do this combo: (B&B from CT) 4B+K, 236CC, 2D~6, J.C, J.8D~6, J.C, J.8D~6, 236BB, 236BBBBB (Or however many you could get afterward) In CT, this would go over well, and hit for a pretty meaty, and actually pretty simplistic combo. If you were to try it in CS (Whether it is Jin OR Litchi in this case), CS2, would only hit.. 3 times and you wouldn't hit them with the final hits for the knockback due to the angle you're at, instead you have to do this: 4B+K, 236CC, 2D~6, J.C, J. 8D~6, J.2D~6, 236BBBBB And you have to make sure that you jump forward off the down dust, and your buffer into CS2 is perfect, or you won't get all 5 hits, which is the most important. But, the problem here is that this combo won't even WORK on every character. It will work on Jin and a majority of the cast, but it won't work on... (correct me if I'm wrong) Litchi, Noel, Carl, I think Arakune and a few others that I cannot remember right now... I thought Lambda was on here but maybe not. Which is pretty bad since it used to be a primary B&B and it has limited uses against a couple high tier characters. I'm pretty sure this is the reason Tao players have to be very fluent in their combo choices, because they won't work on the entire cast. This also being the reason that Taunt Loop is difficult to pick up for a lot of people, due to hitboxes being different. BTW, I like this thread because it seems very beginner friendly. The original Combo thread seems very intimidating for any player who really wants to get into learning ADD Cat because theres a lot there to just pick up on the fly. This kind of thread tells the newer and less experienced (Or not CS friendly) Tao players what to learn and skip the BS, so cut the guy some slack. I'd say maybe change the name to "Tao Combo's for dummies" or "Beginner Tao's help each other out?" She isn't exactly the easiest character in the world to learn. It would definitely get some of us who are merely average up to a better status.

^ We were just comparing sprites just now, and found out that Litchi was the one with Jam's sprite. I just made the assumption because Jam and Makoto play a little bit similar to me. Thanks for the clarification.

I don't mean to sound beligerent.. but that's Jam's colors.. no? Edit: lawl beaten.
