If I'm at max range, usually I just do a HF->follow-up, (RC if I have the Heat->Dash->6A...(Must be close to corner)), dash in and continue pressure... I guess it wouldn't hurt me to learn some tk'd GH combos at max range so I can start doing more damage.

Well, let me start off by giving my disclaimer, I am not, I repeat AM NOT, a major authority on Ragna. I'm actually still in the workshop with him. As far as approaching Tager, the tactic that has worked for me is to stay rushing him down as soon as I get in. The main thing is that you be cognizant of his Heat and his pattern of 360's. You really should check out the Block Strings and Frame Traps thread to get a good idea of how to apply pressure even if Tager blocks. In general, you really have to find the best approach methods per character. You're not going to approach Tager the same way you approach Jin or Hazama, etc. For instance Tager has his 360 which has some good priority on wake up while Jin can do 623A on wake up but get punished due to its recovery. Also in general, you wanna stay at least half screen away from your opp. if possible. Ragna has no options at full screen besides HF which is a little unsafe. Only use that if you know that it will connect...

I may try that when I get off of work. On the BE in that combo, I try to get as high as I can (at least parallel with my opponent) and then BE. Doing that, I can 99% of the time catch the float and finish w/ 5D->623D->236C->214D. Speaking of which, What do you guys think is the best finisher after the float on BE or is the one I just listed the best one?

Yeah, I usually do the 5B just a split second before they hit the ground. I'm working on incorporating 5D to actually make that combo a little easier to connect...

Oh, ok. Cool, I'll have to check it out in training mode. I also noticed that 5D->DC->5C prorates much worse than 5D->DC->6A (about a 500hp difference)....

Thought this would be the best thread to ask in and I hope it hasn't been answered already: In BE combos (j.C->j.D->JC->j.C->j.214C...), is there a particular advantage to using j.C->j.214C versus using j.D->j.214C. I've been using j.D->j.214C with the same results as using j.C->j.214C but I've read in other places where it has been said that you should always use j.C. I mainly use j.D just for HP gain...

I used to finish off BE combos with 5D->623D->236C->214D and then I would BE to the ground and hope to catch the opponent but that only works in the corner if the opponent tech rolls back. I've found it better to just simply land and go from there...

Guess you're right. I've noticed that a lot of times when I try to make my way inside, I'll use BE and if blocked I get punished. Sometimes I'm successful with that...

Cool, preciate the insight. What do you think about 6D->j.214C?
-
Okay, 1. People aren't trying to DP me. When I DC, I am merely extending a block string. My opp. usually keeps up his defense when I DC. 2. If they were, I wouldn't be dash canceling. As I stated before, I am NEW to Ragna, so if there is a better way, I don't mind being corrected. So far, my online play has been ok with Ragna. I've been able lay down some heavy pressure with him with just a few well placed high/ low mixups leading to an opening to a BnB. Especially 5D->DC->3C... After the 3C, I cancel into 5D and go from there... P. S. Cool to see you Ladon. I'm sure you're suprised to see that I've put down Jin and picked up Ragna...

Yes, true. But I'm referring to being baited into a DP in which case a prime example would be after a DC'd atttack. If I'm not mistaken Ragna's DC is 22 frames which would leave you at -4 if done after 5D in which case if you tried to attack and an opposing Jin did 623A, Jin would win. When I say "interrupted," I'm talking about a Dash in attempt whether it is after Ragna's normals or a Dead Spike. Not mid attack sequence...
-
Well, most blockstrings don't come with a guarantee card anyway. That is when mix up comes into play so you can keep your opponent guessing. a good Jin for instance, if he is seasoned can interrupt several things with his 623A. It is only 6 frames on startup and is only matched by Ragna's 5A/ 2A. The thing is if you bait your opponent to DP and block or if you mix up your high/ lows you can create an opening. Like I said earlier I'm still new to Ragna but I've been able to use the above mentioned blockstrings to yield some pretty good results and I haven't been cut off with a DP yet...

Hmm, never thought about incorporating a JC in his blockstring. Then again, I am new to Ragna in CS. Its funny cause I can't play him for nothing on CT. I'll have to give that a try. Anyways, I generally poke with 2A and then: ->5B->5C->5D->DC... ->5B->5C->2C->214D (Dead Spike)... ->5D->DC->3C->5D->DC... ->5B->5C->3C->5D... ->2B->6B->5C... I'm working on: ->5B->5C->6D->j.214C (Belial Edge) ->5B->5C->2C->JC->j.A->j.C... (Since Jin has a similar blockstring)
