Rush that shit down. Basically, pummel your enemy into submission with safe mixup blockstrings, wait for him to make a mistake, get a confirm in, get in big damage, repeat, win. -

Oh yeah, by the way, I have just been informed that my friend can lend his PS3, so I can lend 2 PS3s during the event, if it's needed (or if X-Over needs it, whatever). Inform me if there's any need. -

Haha, shit, how could I have missed this? There stands the only king I mean to bend the knee to! Sila Ted na yung Lannisters of Casterly Rock, tapos yung La Salle regulars yung Tyrells of Highgarden. It fits! I can see it now. GEORGE JUNG, Lord of House Makati, Warden of the Central Realms. --SER Q, the Fenrir Knight, and Commander of the noble retinue --ROBERT ANDRADA, called THE TIER WHORE, champion of Makati, Shield of the Central Realms. Cousin to JOHN CAMILET, of the North. I could do this all day. -

Just as an addendum: no, guys, we cannot hide behind fair-use laws. The moment we are selling it for cold, hard cash, all pretentions to fair-use disappear entirely. To clarify my stance on this, it's quite obvious that no one is going to sue a tiny set-up like ours, especially not a Japanese company, who are notoriously lenient on copyright to the point of unspoken policy (see: Comiket) BUT: Companies often protect trademark because if they don't, they lose their trademark. Simple as that. See: the case with Games Workshop having to shut down the Warhammer 40,000 fan movie, even if they liked it, and the much more recent case between Notch (of Minecraft fame) vs. Bethesda. We're running this thing inside a con, which means if there is a chance (however minutely remote) that there is a legal problem, it has to go through them, creating headaches for many people that they'd rather not have (by dint of legal risk, they must have a lawyer ready, which means a legal fee allowance, which means uggghhhhhh). And the con's higher-ups have said that they don't want this thing on their house. While it might seem a bit strange, all they're trying to do is covering their legal behinds, and there is nothing at all you can fault them for on that score. Their house, their rules. All in all, might not be the best of ideas, but using them as a simple prize is definitely okay. Ball's in your court gentlemen. -

The main difference between the Dualshock 3 and 360 D-pad: 360 D-pad: will leave your left thumb in a broken, twisted, mangled state, a red ruin of mockery unto its former self, covered with exploded blisters and festering pus, where cruel flesh clings tenuously to bone. Dualshock 3: Pretty comfortable, actually. -

I will largely echo this statement, but with the caveat that being humble will always ingratiate yourself to people. Arrogance and haughtiness is the short road to less friends. -

I can bring my PS3, a 2.1 speaker setup, and a 22" monitor. I can leave everything there except for the monitor, which I will have to bring home, because I use it for my computer as well. I've also got BBCS, AH3, MvC3, and SSF4:AE. Take from these things what you need. -

Alright, just so we're clear, there will be casuals in Caltrops in Philcoa this Friday, starting likely at 4pm and ending at whatever the fuck time you guys want, because all of you are unique snowflakes that I bend my knee to at the slightest opportunity to please. The only thing I ask is that everyone bring at least 50 pesos for the rent. WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT: Well, aside from the obvious games, there will be food there, of the fried chicken variety. It will be fried chicken because I said so goddamit, and if you don't like it, then you can take off your pants and let me fuck you in places you never knew could be fucked, while everyone else watches. HOWEVER, anyone who wants to eat MUST pay an additional 30 pesos. Because I am buying the chicken and no way am I footing the whole of the bill for a hungry geek army. BUT HOW THE HELL DO I GO THERE, RAFAEL?: Gaze upon this map, charted millennia ago by Rogue Traders long dead. That is where you will go. The Chowking will be your mark. It's splendid visage signifies that salvation is near at hand. If you're coming from the MRT, as most of you inevitably are, then get down on Quezon Avenue station. Go to the nearby McDonalds (if you're coming from the south, I think you'll have to cross), and find a "UP Campus" or "SM Fairview" jeep. It goes straight to Elliptical Road, swings around, and passes by Philcoa. Once you see Citimall with an overpass, you're where you want to be. Just walk to the second floor of the Citimall building and turn right, and there you are. Use the map as a guide. If you're ever lost, just ask anyone on the street where Philcoa is. Everyone knows, trust me. If anyone is in need of more detailed instructions, or needs my cellphone number to call me if they're lost (you big sissy), PM me and I'd be happy to oblige. -

So, barring any unforseen events such as natural disasters, plague outbreak, or Mahoyo actually coming out, Cubao casuals this Friday will go through! It will probably start at 4:00pm. One little caveat however. It's not going to be in my house near Cubao. It will, in fact, be in Caltrops, a computer shop in Philcoa. '>Click this link for the map! Why the venue change? Well, first of all, this allows us to be a lot more accomodating to the various players we have in Northern Metro Manila. Secondly, there are two (in the future, three) PS3s, so that makes games go a lot faster, or if we have to play two separate games (AH3!), we can do that too. Thirdly, the food is scientifically proven to be 120% better than the one in my house. Don't worry, it's just as accessible as the previous locale! If you're coming from the MRT, as most of you inevitably are, then get down on Quezon Avenue station. Go to the nearby McDonalds (if you're coming from the south, I think you'll have to cross), and find a "UP Campus" or "SM Fairview" jeep. GGs kanina sa netplay, Insan. I know I'm not such a great match, but hey, at least I'm learning. Medyo may lag, pero pwede pag-tiyagaan, malapit na siya si puntong hindi ko mapansin. Nagiging halata lang kapag mga split second stuff like IB-DP yung sinusubukan ko or throw break. Try mo ko ulit kapag 10pm or beyond. Bumibilis connection ko nyun. -

As ever, if a PS3 is needed, mine is always available. Oh, also, there'll be a casuals at my house tomorrow on Tuesday, 5pm. It's in Project 4, very near to Cubao. Most of you already know the way, if you're coming. To anyone who doesn't, don't hesitate to ask me through this thread or by PM. -
Ah, ayus. May tentative date na sila for August 20, or 27 (personally speaking, mas gusto ko yung 20 kasi may Eiga Sai ata sa 27 and I don't wanna miss that, but if it has to be 27, then oh well). As for PS3s, they've promised 3 units, equipped with monitors and at least one big screen LCD TV. I don't think there's a problem if we lend some of ours for the day. Baka dumaan ako doon mamaya, so sabihin ko na rin kay David na okay tayo. We obviously need to coordinate with them in a more organized fashion at some point between now and mid-August, para maplanuhan. First thing na kailangan pag-usapan is the date, I guess. Okay ka na ba diyan, or did we have something else penciled in for August?
-
Mirror's Edge: Spider-Man edition. Also, Anton, I have to talk to you about a possible BB event in August dito sa QC, maybe later when I get back home.

I know this isn't about fighting games, but uh, holy shit. News of the World, Britain's largest circulating Sunday paper is closing down due to allegations of criminal methods of sourcing. To put perspective on this, it's like if Fox News just suddenly closed down after being accused of being biased fucks. As a matter of fact, that could be a possibility, since Rupert Murdoch owns fucking Fox too. GOOD FUCKING RIDDANCE. News of the World is a stain on the integrity of all newspapermen everywhere.

The pool system sounds nice, but we really need to gauge the time demands it will bring. Round robin type matches first sound like it might take a longer time than the pure double-elim brackets, but we'll have to see. We might have to start at morning to have any reasonable hope of finishing before nightfall.
-
Well, you're in luck!
-
Well, this looks familiar.

Yeah, I was thinking of busting the game out with a few of you when I get it. The game doesn't take longer than 8-10 minutes to play a round. Also, are you serious about your Magic cards? Psst, Ry, whatever price Gelo can name. I can name a higher one. What sort of MTG cards do you have?
-
Hey, I know we have some dudes here who are into board games and card games and all those good stuff. And of course, all of us play fighting games. How'd you like a mix of both? Game's called Yomi (for obvious reasons), and it is fucking amazing. I tried it out on the weekend, and man, it feels like a fighting game even when it's just cards. And the art blew me away. It's fucking amazing for an indie/designer board game effort. Here's a few videos that explain this whole shindig: I'm thinking of buying the entire thing in a week or so. Anyone interested in trying it out.
