  1. It's also pretty shit because it doesn't really have any other useful properties and isn't that fast. At least I've never found good uses for it. I'm sure it'd be great against just the right low attack or something, but I mostly only ever use it as a gimmick setup for buttgrab or similar. Though I'm trash, so take that with a grain of salt.
  2. Further Victor info in addition to what was already said -- In addition to the mention of Oboro for or Japanese victor, but FLoE plays a solid victor (and sas sometimes) in some of the recent Savior tournaments. Throws: Victor has throws on MP, HP, and MK or HK (maybe both) MP: Lower damage, but they flip upwards into the air and reset, so you can use this to mix them up on their wakeup. Usually your better option (Esp. when you are good). HP: Higher damage, knocks down. Potential for pursuit followup. Kick throw: I find these less useful, but they can be good for getting away or towards a corner because of how far he throws them. Command throws: His punch command grab is great. It can't be teched like a normal throw, so if you have a solid setup for it, it'll get em! Learn to set it up, but the game's pace means you have to really train your opponent to block and such. His kick based command throw is techable, so mostly garbage. Supers: His 720 super (buttgrab) does massive damage and where you should be using your meter (or ES moves in some situations), if you can learn to set it up. Scrubby players like me mostly do this on jumpin or wakeup on a foolish opponent. Great players like Oboro will buffer it on a whiffed attack normal / dash attack. His other super (the electricity) is pretty limited use, but has its moments. It has huge recovery though, and slow startup. The first part (the axehandle) can hit as well as the electricity that arcs out. Other stuff: His pursuit is much more limited than other characters, and very slow. It's not worth whiffing for meter like some chars. Still, some setups have a pretty much guaranteed pursuit/ES pursuit followup. I think this includes his GC, but I haven't played lately so don't remember. His guard cancel is decent - not amazing, but solid, unlike the super slow ones that, say, Aulbath(Rikuo) or Hsienko have. Like others mentioned, his j.HP is great. Neutral jump is a different version (but quite good hitbox too, and one frame faster startup I think) that knocks down on hit. Be careful of other characters with a really good jumping attack. j.HK is underrated (not as safe a hitbox as HP, but really subtly further reach) in my opinion. j.LP is good if you can predict them jumping and want to stuff them in air to air. Always chain to another air attack on contact after j.LP, generally - for meter or hits. edit: he also has a command throw on all standing punches when in (one of his two) his Dark Force mod. It's fun as hell, but when you're new, it's gonna get you killed unless your opponent is new, because it has forced recovery when it ends, giving your opponent a free punish..
  3. I'm donating to the pot - er entering, but I'm utter and complete trash at the game.
  4. Anyone going to NCR despite the lack of airdashin' there?
  5. I also imagine qwerty means it's a bad idea given the large cost of a CS2 kit. If it was free, sure! Also, a pony! I wish SVGL would get KOFXIII or something new and shiny (or old and awesome), since I don't care about SFIV/AE really.
  6. Think so, but mostly to hopefully run into dudes I only know via GGPO and stuff - I'm terrible at all the main games.
  7. NCI is always PS3 (ergo, PSN) based, right?
  8. This term, this 'expert' should be used very loosely when referring to me.
  9. When I said you MASH HARD I meant it! Seriously though, great info is to be had here: http://vsav.mizuumi.net/wiki/Main_Page First stage for learning vsav is just getting magic series (chain/revolver/gatling/whatever the fuck various communities call it) down Second is playing and learning matchups Third is learning to pushblock (http://vsav.mizuumi.net/wiki/Controls - tl;dr is piano buttons on blockstop) Fourth is Guard Cancels if your character has one worth a damn.
  10. Awesome! That was my first NCI, but I certainly hope it's not the last! I had no clue what to expect, and by the end I was really, really regretting showing up at 10, as I was kind of dead on my feet by the end! Shoutouts to everyone I met - I swear I only can remember half the names, it's all kind of a blur! Seriously, everyone was so cool (I'd say people were too hyped to be described as chill!) and friendly, it was a blast. No one may see this if it's gonna get locked though! Shoutouts to waiting 12 hours to play a tiny side tournament YEAHHHHHHHHHHH. (I just need to learn one of the main games, that's all!)
  11. What are the odds of vsav happening earlier on (casuals, etc) do you guys think? I've never gone to NCI, so not sure what it's like. I was thinking of bringing my old laptop, but it's pretty untried - I've never checked the screen to see how much delay it has - any CRTs likely to be around if I bring cables to connect things? edit: I probably should have posted this in the NCI thread. Oh well.
  12. It's been down for like 2 weeks. I think it's coming back soon - Ponder hasn't said too much but said some of the issues have been resolved but more needs to be done.
  13. I'd love that. I'd totally enter (and lose) vsav! I've never been to NCI (or a tourney to be honest) but I'm hoping/planning to go this weekend - though illness in the family might prevent that. Southtown is just far enough away from me (SJ isn't too bad though!) that I haven't visited it yet but I'm glad it's having such a positive effect! You mean 2 bats, 2/3 matches right? Turbo 3 (you probably know this) is the standard tourney speed.
  14. I am seeing a decided lack of "I have a legit copy of HnK" in this thread. I do. (I'm too lazy to mod my PS2 or anything though, so I just play it under emulation)!
  15. Oh, man. You have just opened pandora's box. You're gonna have to call campus security to drag me away from Jojos. Seriously, don't tease me like that! Game's too awesome. I'll probably be too busy this weekend (at least through saturday) due to a wedding, but after...
  16. Thanks for the background. That just feels like them being small-minded though. I mean, hell, Jojo's is a capcom game and has more in common with something like GG as far as I'm concerned than it does with SFIV. Then again, no one plays Jojos, so... cough.
  17. You could try getting a hold of Viridian who posted his contact info here or on SRK before. I'm at work at the moment. Damn library^W work! I like my job, but FIGHTAN GAMZ!
  18. So speaking of tournaments and such, how come it doesn't look like BBCS is going to be at the next NCR? (http://norcalregionals.com/) ? Too much overlap with NCI, or...?
  19. I don't know of any openings in my side of the world, but if you're serious, talk with me about it some time and I'll get/keep a copy of your resume around for when I know about anything. There's also a way to submit your resume online, but that sort of thing is pretty hit/miss since it's hard to get noticed among all the others.
  20. I do, but currently can't host (also, I live up in the mountains outside SC, so it's a little less practical). I could bring PS3 sticks or whatever. If you were worried about sticks, I could bring 360 stick(s). Yeah, I somehow knew you were in Cupertino, but don't remember how. I work at a certain fruit-themed company. Since I tend to carpool, etc, I often need a little fore-warning (and to do some planning) but totally amenable to trying to find some gaming on this side of the hill, too. Restated: I'm still terrible at BBCS (but I want to improve)!
  21. Yup. It (usually, can drive home earlier if planned ahead) only has the restriction that since I work over in the cupertino area M-F, I don't get back into town until 7:30 or later on those days. Late evenings M-F or weekends are usually free.
  22. Yeah, SVGL is pretty feasible on occasion - I work in the cupertino area, so that's easy enough when I'm not carpooled. SFSU, not...quite so much. Well I'm so bad at BBCS it's like I don't even play it. Though I play Jojo's ... yeah, I'm a bit used to lack of players.
  23. That may be, but be content that there seem to be a fair number of players in Sacramento (paging Arvoyea). That's something! Meanwhile, I think Viridian and I are the only ones in Santa Cruz, it seems. Could be worse.
  24. I am contractually obligated to acknowledge any and all Jojo's references. Yesssssssssss.
  25. I'm pretty sure that Tager already has problems adhering to Santa Cruz' NUCLEAR FREE ZONE regulations, but oh well! But yeah, there have to be more people in the area into BB, at least potentially. I'm surprised how few there seem to be.
