  1. I used to think Impact Up did the trick, but I was wrong. It actually was Wall Smash that's needed to get that jumping H bounce. Also, who's this dude you're talking about on youtube? I tried searching for Black Frieza, but all I get are WoW and Linkin' Park videos.
  2. Don't get me wrong, I like SC3 just fine. But if you look at the community, getting a standard set of rules of what is and isn't allowed is like pulling teeth. I think it's tough to use that game to argue for either side. I don't think there's a right or wrong side on this issue; I think it's really up to the community of the game in question. While I have my opinion, I would have absolutely no problems with banning them all if that's what everybody wants (my favs are 17 and Frieza anyway). I just think it'd be more fun, that's all.
  3. Well, that quote you took from my post is a bit out of context. The characters I refered to were Heihachi, Link and Spawn. The reason they are banned is not because they aren't in the arcade, but because they are not uniformly available in the game, i.e. you can't use Heihachi on the Gamecube. As I said before, Sophitia and Seung Mina, who weren't in the arcade, have always been allowed, as far as I know. Although you do bring up a good point with the Guilty Gear example; I guess non-arcade character banning is practiced more frequently than I originally thought. Soul Calibur 3 also has examples of this, but that game is so messed up, it's hard to use it in this debate. Anyway, my opinion remains that these characters should be allowed until something retardedly broken is found, because I think the addition of new characters brings more depth to the game. But that's just me.
  4. While I understand your frustration, I'm gonna have to disagree. I believe the whole point of banning anything in a tournament is because that thing breaks the game, or is unfair to set of players in that game. Soul Calibur 2 provides the best example of banning, IMO. Game breaking glitches are banned, such as Astaroth's [K] glitch (at least in the NTSC-J version). The console version brought new characters, but they were allowed accordingly. Sophie and Seung Mina were solid characters, but by no means broken, so they are always allowed. The console-exclusive characters were banned, because it would be unfair for people who have the Xbox version if a tournament were played on one of the other consoles. While Necrid appeared in all three versions, his abilities were questionable, so he is generally kept out of tournaments. The point is that banning is used to level out the playing field. There is only one console version, readily available to all players, so banning on the principle of character unavailbility is senseless.
  5. Yeah, I like flex laser alot, but personally, I like having Interrupter (Cell's move) more. It's a great defensive move, as you are moving back and to the side while firing off 4 projectiles. The tracking isn't as great as I initially thought, but I still think it's a solid acquisition. As for move inheritance banning, I see some merit in that. While the arcade character's moves are okay, the console characters' moves seem questionable. Like Majin Vegeta's counter break. I wouldn't have a problem with it if it was like regular Vegeta's, but the fact that you can combo off of it seems like a bit much. Then again, I've played a grand total of 2 humans, who weren't good, so I can't give a completely accurate view on the matter.
  6. Well, if that's a shitty combo vid, then I am downright awful. How did you "fuck up" that last combo?
  7. Yeah, the timing is a bit difficult; I can't do it 100% of the time, yet. I don't have the game in front of me at the moment, but IIRC, you should hit L or H a few frames after connecting with the second H. I would post a vid of the juggle being performed, but my PC w/ a capture card is packed up at the moment. It's easier to connect with Energy Field, so try it with that first, just to see if it works. Practicality-wise, it may not be a great idea, since you use up the entire super meter for like 2 extra points of damage. EDIT: It seems to me that combos aren't as exciting in this game as I thought. I think that the most damaging combos for everyone in the game is: ff+L, (L+B), pause, unfly H, ff+H, the character's personal string, and then super. The only exceptions are Piccolo, Krillen and Majin Buu, but all they have to do is replace unfly H with unfly L. I suppose with Super Cancel you can do more interesting things, but otherwise, that's the best you'll get.
  8. Wow, I didn't know Chi Chi could that many jumping H in a juggle. Damn. I also found out that since dashing attacks can be performed out of any dash, one can side dash, then hit forward and L or H and get a side step and dash attack using only one action bar. Sorry if this has been posted before, but I can never tell since the instruction booklet and atrocious Prima guide are pretty lacking.
  9. Mashing L and H fast make her move up, and once she moves up, you can control her horizontal direction by holding L or R, I believe.
  10. I'm not sure which does more damage, but L,H,H will allow you to perform a super afterwards. If I don't have super meter and have another action bar, then I'll finish with L,H, (L+B):L. Unless you have Super Cancel, in which case, like Jubeh said, that's a whole other world I have yet to explore. Personally I use his landing L more because 1) it's angled down, as opposed to H, which makes it easier to land IMO, and 2) it comes out faster, which makes it easier to execute from a lower jump. Of course, landing H does more damage, but in the heat of battle, I tend to do whatever's easier. Hell, if you hit the landing L deep enough, you can get a ff+H afterwards (or so I've experienced in training mode).
  11. I just tried that combo out, and it's fantastic. The only thing I would change is the end... landing L, ff+L, (L+B), pause, J~H, ff+H, L,H, L,H,H, Ultimate Blaster In most of the 17 combos I've seen, I believe you can end it with the L,H,H string on characters that aren't too small (Teen Gohan, Krillen). As for the Japanese music, I don't think it's in this game. Same with the voices. EDIT: By "this game" I mean the American version.
  12. Yeah, I experienced the same thing when I tried to combo off of it. I'm not 100% sure, since I don't use Piccolo anymore, but I would guess that you would need the Impact Up skill on your skill card.
