  1. So I'm probably not up to date with the latest Makoto combos, but I've been messing around with particle flair for a little while. With your opponent in the corner you can back throw, 236236D3 ~ D, 236D3, 5D3, ~ 2C, full PF for 4460 damage if you do everything right. The timing is extremely tight, for me anyway. As far as I know 4460 isn't that bad for a Makoto throw combo. I remember someone saying that they missed doing 2C after 2 part particle flair. It's there in OD, but I can't seem to find a way to squeeze more damage out of what I already know. You can also particle flair level 2 out of parry level 1 if you're close enough. You can super out of parry level 2 and 3 as well. You can then walk "backwards" a little so you can correct your direction, then 6A j.B j.D3 into the corner if you're near it. Also PF into PF always seems to work if you want to extend your combo. But I feel since I don't see that, there must be something I'm missing.
  2. I'm already committed to Friday I think. Going to meet up with some dudes for another game no one plays (not UMvC3/SF).
  3. I'll be going to GU this Friday. I won't be bringing a setup though. I can't afford to lose or break my friend's PS3.
  4. Well I mean force them to barrier the 2D3. Recovery for 2D3 according to the wiki gives 20 frames of block stun (Does RC cancel all the recovery frames? lol). And because they block it in the air they also have to fall a little which should add to the recovery enough to make CT a frame trap, or that was my idea anyway.
  5. The way it was said, "telegraphed", sounds to me like there's a visual cue in 2B that someone can react to and that 6B is faster and more subtle than it. I felt I had to say something, but I guess my response wasn't clear for anyone that would get confused by it. All experienced players know that the general rule is, block low until they jump or you see something that looks fishy. 6B in my limited experience seems like a decent overhead, but I wouldn't be surprised if one day I never got it to hit again on the people I always play against. I won't have the PS3 for another week, and the only thing I can do in the mean time is scheme evil plans. First of all, what's the best damage I can get off DP and an immediate rapid? If I was getting zoned, could I comet cannon the projectiles and rapid quickly enough to guarantee getting in? Ok one more scrubby RC question. If I 2D3 (other moves could work too) someone who is landing and I RCed could I frame trap them with crush trigger since landing would increase their recovery? Does lander blow become usable in OD? What happens when you space counter an air attack? Are there resets where someone flips out of a combo or a hit and I can 214A ~ A or 214A ~ B and have advantage? It seems less possible the more I think about it.
  6. Uh, 2B is 9 frames. No one's reacting to that.
  7. Hi guys. My friends and I imported BBCP, but I don't have a PS3 so we pass it around each week. That means I can't test stuff. I'd like to ask how tight certain strings and transitions are. I noticed I've gotten DPed and Tagered out of 5C/5CC 6B, but I don't how air tight other things are. How tight are transitions into 214A ~ C? How tight is 214A ~ CA? Also, why is the match up forum dead around here? I have a general question about Tager. If I'm at -2, does that mean I'm getting grabbed by a 6 frame command grab if I try to jump since jump start up is 4 frames?
  8. If I had to say I didn't play Makoto for underboob maybe I'd say I main her because her drive is sick. It's like, not even a real drive. It doesn't really dictate a play style, just the feel of the character. Her drive is just punching super hard, so hard that it glues your opponent's body to the corner. So hard that it sends people to the moon. I especially love that her overdrive bounces people around harder than ever. Also, I love catching air dashes with BBS. It's only about 2k damage raw, but there's so much tension in that hour long screen freeze for my opponent before knowing if they're getting nailed or not.
  9. There's 4 of us. There's 3 of us in Burlington (Mass, not Vermont) and there's another in Middleton. I'm pretty busy at the moment with classes and work. It might be too insane for me to get out there any time before winter break (outside Fridays at GU), but maybe I'll catch a break some where. One friend might travel to play. He does for Marvel, but I'm not sure how committed he is to anime. The rest probably wouldn't go any where by themselves.
  10. Hey guys the guys in the NE thread told me to drop by here. I used to come by PWA in Pelham back in the CS2 days. I go to GU every now and then, but they don't seem to really play that many anime games. My friends and I got hype about BBCP and couldn't wait so we imported it (or one of my friends did more accurately). Are there any other venues hosting games around here or does anyone host casuals?
  11. Oh nuts. It's crazy to think that I left impressions (or at least remembered) from that long ago. I didn't even know what I was doing in SC at the time. FSAK was a pretty overwhelming experience for me, sorry that I don't remember you. Who did you play? I've driven as far as an hour and a half to play SCIV casuals and I've driven an hour to play SCV casuals more recently. But I can't do anything like that now. That's an idea for winter break for when I'm not working 2 jobs and taking a grad class on top of 3 other classes. I didn't notice the Boston thread. I guess I'll go take a look at that.
  12. Hi guys. I played some games with some of you in Pelham, Mass, in Pinball Wizard Arcade back when CS2 just happened. I remember some names, "Nuclear Cheese", "Tim" (Toycapsuleco?). I had a hard time understanding 2D fighters back then, but since no one wants to play Soulcalibur that's all I've been playing. We skipped out on extend for the most part, and played P4A briefly, but my friend thought CP looked sick so he imported it. What's the closest scene to Burlington, Mass? I heard CP was being played in Framingham last week, but I don't see anime games being played in there very often.
  13. Are you sure you're doing j.236D and not j.236C? j.236C falls and hits the ground before it's able to come out, but j.236D has a built in jump which allows it to hit.
  14. Hey guys, if you're interested in playing Soulcalibur V locally or even traveling a little bit post up here: http://8wayrun.com/threads/soulcalibur-players-map.10158/ Or you can PM me your city and state on Dustloop and I'll tag you on this map: http://g.co/maps/n3mk6
  15. My XBL GT is also Lasercakes if anyone's interested in beating me up. I could use the practice.
