Everyone can. STEINS. The only thing people need to practise is getting the timing on Growler's recovery after it absorbs something, and just putting down a meaty.
-
You play a lot of games and try to hit them without getting hit. Seems overly simple but that's all really. You can training mode some things like beating extended hitboxes but in the end it comes down to experience, foresight and fundamental game knowledge.

To be honest a large chunk of your gameplay's decision making in neutral is better than you think. J2C actually makes one of if not the best counterpoke tools in the game and is excellent for shooting down high mobility characters. The thing I would recommend the most is understanding what to do once you have your opponent blocking. To explain that I'm going to repost something we wrote up for the wiki: 5c's failing is in pressure. Though the move is not very minus on block, gatling into 5c removes the threat of µ's mixup via 6b and throws, limiting it to frametraps. Opponents who understand the µ's normals can see 5c as a queue for the essential end of her pressure. However, once again this is a normal where a varied use of Late Chains, Special and Drive Cancels will keep you mobile and unpredictable, forcing the opponent to respect your space. 5b's true strength is the number of options it has following it, and leading into it. The move gatlings into nearly all of µ's other normals, and can be late chained out of at almost any time. Combining this with varied use of Special Cancels, Drive cancels and Jump cancels lead to this move being critical in pressure and mixup. See the difference in situations where your opponent is blocking? It's easy to make people block 5c but you're not gaining any ground by it offensively. Steins are there to get you in, and 5c is there to keep them out.

Technically SoD is still an inferior starter to corner 2c CH. To my knowledge the Habakiri MAX route remains the highest overall damage, I imagine with SoD starter it would net something around 8k.
-
Dp ender is good for running train in high pressure situations, the resulting near-ground air tech from 6b 5d 623c allows for good air unblockable hit/throw/falling into mixup situations.

Why the fuck are all the avatars so big. EDIT : WHERE DID MY STAR GO EDIT2: WHY IS MY NAME NOT ITALISIZED GDI CIRC 2c kara is actually useless. The kara comes out so late into the startup that you get more distance by simply dashing and then throwing. Additionally you won't be in counterhit state during the moving forward part by dashing.

Hitconfirm Available, it means you can use an extra move before the rest of the combo.
-
To consolidate everything... You're going to beat µ by landing air counterpokes via drive, everything else is a risky bet.

Active frame extension due to guardpoint hitstop

6c's prorate is no longer impressive, j.2c's has never been great either. 5c/2 = 90 damage per prorate j.2c = 46.875 6c = 51.25 The effective combo value of 5c/2c is near double that of any other normal.
-
You can add a 5c after dashing 2b but you have to drop the last 3c. It works out better due to the higher base damage and better prorate earlier in the combo.
-
What route are you doing? I'm doing 2b > 5c > SoD > 66a > 5c > 2c > sj.2c > j.5d > 2b > 5c > 2c > 5[D] > j.c > j.2c > 3c > j.2c > omo for 4685

Under Night In-Birth, PS3 release confirmed (Jul 24, 2014)
C0R replied to Hecatom's topic in Under Night In Birth
Most FG's actually reward the reactive player as opposed to the pre-emptive player. -
Old charged stein route listed as the optimal in the combo thread does 4685 for one less stein :V no bomb required. Also confirming into 2b > 5c > SoD is infinitely more realistic then 3c, mostly because 2b > 3c doesn't combo at further ranges. Plus 5c does more damage.

Hello everyone. Just wanted to inform everyone that (though this has already begun), I won't be as active over the coming months. This is due to my newfound broadcasting work and developments at Riot Games. I fully entrust Pedro with any developments that may arise during my spotty attendance in the coming future. I'll definitely still drop by every couple days to check developments and answer questions, so no funerals yet.

iirc they can roll forward.
-
Done. And yes that is all the relevant combos. I didn't post obscure character specific combos or really hard combos because they're impractical and unrealistic (triple full bomb off N starter).
-
No, I'm WC, it's tough to make it out to EC events.
-
You just run under it period, you don't have to commit to anything. If he's in the air at all you just run.
-
Good situations to use an OD combo include following a Habakiri Corner mixup into DP RC and following 236d Oki midscreen.

6b is cancelable into drive. Annoying as fkkkk

My turn I suppose. Shoutouts firstoff to Alan. You never volunteered to be known as a community figure. You never stepped into the spotlight. It's us who pointed it at you, because you're the person who most embodies what we love about our community. Thank you. Shoutouts to being that Incredibly Hoarse Individual, croaking out brackets and Top16's. I'm sorry I had so much trouble communicating due to my voice being gone, luckily it came back in time for me to belt out shittalk in top4! Shoutouts to my Teammates James and DaiAndOh, we gave Huey's team the closest match pre-top4, and that's something to be proud of. I know this was James' first tournament as a 'real' competitor and I just want to say that those weeklies with Veteru are really paying off, keep at it! Dai it was great to meet you and see your extremely... inventive Mu. Thank you for running reg and being great in general. Shoutouts to Socal! Eddie, Nano, Delta, Shtkn you guys were a blast. I felt like I might have been able to clear the stigma between Brkrdv and I. I'm sorry I'm abrasive at times, I really like you! You guys coming out made the tournament that much more memorable. CLASH BATTLE was probably my favorite 10 seconds of the entire weekend. I have to find a Mu player to script one with now. Shoutouts to Lich, I'm glad I was able to get some games in against one of the only real Relius players in america. Your team was my favorite to win the tournament. You were probably the nicest person I've ever met at a tournament. I'm glad my stick only bugged out on you once. Maybe I'll figure out how to beat j.3d before we fight again. Shoutouts to Montreal: Brice, Kirbster, Kaeru, DerQ, Dhaos and the other guy! Always a pleasure, I'm glad I got to meet Kirbster and Kaeru for the first time, definitely must embattle ourselves in righteous combat at UMAD. I also never got a chance to redeem myself against Brice! Sorry I kept forgetting stuff in your room, I'll try to get better about that next year. Shoutouts to Josh, rare to find an individual these days with the wherewithal to openly debate without prejudice in an honest manner. Thank you for being so hospitable and supportive! Maybe we can play GG next time. Shoutouts to Top Players: LK and SKD. Steve dodging me cause he hates Mu and being actually too busy. SKD, good games when we got to play each-other for even that small time period, you're beginning to convince me that Izayoi isn't as bad as she could be. SKD it was especially great talking with you on a personal level, you're a great guy and I hope you come out to a WC event so we can show you the legendary PNW hospitality. Shoutouts to PNW ROOM Red vs Blue Oh, my, god. Actually the best thing to come out of NEC. Everything from piss drunk everybody to One-Button-Nano to RPS to Alan playing games... It was the most honest international scene bonding moment I have ever experienced. Shoutouts to the Homies Traivs, Landis, Shaka, Jayson, Jais, Digital Watches. Good shit. Pizza was godlike. Drinks all around. PNW Master Race. Shoutouts to everyone EC I met for the first time Ama, ChosenNinja, Omen, JOUURRRDALLLL, Omni, BatousaiJ, Superscience, just to name a few. The entire weekend was a whirl of memories and good times, so I appologize if I missed anyone. Overall I had a great community experience at NEC14, and am definitely planning on making it out to more EC events in the future both as a competitor and as community member.
