Huzzah. I'll try to get on later. If not soon, I'll be running a mental gauntlet of playing through tonight and all tomorrow. Prolly swapping between bb and sg. Btw, since I never grab I'm so going to try to arakune forward dash under your backdashes and spam grabs. -

Back after a long time. Putting up a room in a few to shake off some rust. Anyone is welcome to level down with me this evening. -

It all depends on if you get trapped. And once the loop is confirmed don't burst. If you can avoid lockdown you can avoid curse. Then again avoid lockdown, avoid curse, get hit with a poke, f of g, fun starts over. -

One of the few good ones. If I didn't have unblockable setups I'd be 100% free. -

You've beat me with patient tager a few times. Looking at the other guy seems to work for you. Granted we sometimes have a 4 bar. Who you look at isn't an execution issue, it's more like giving yourself a better reaction window since you can gauge the other guy's trajectory and read from a farther distance. Toan respects my block strings and hence is able to swat me away when I get impatient. -

You're probably right. Also I'm not sure if saying 10ish frame loss would be more accurate on a 60fps game like sc. Regardless, I've experienced inputs not registering, and I have visually confirm everything my character does online - it's really an argument for the superiority of a small screen. And also to complain about yet another way online dumbs down fgs. Any idea what the blaz frame rate is? -

Another online/eye issue I have is - and I bet most competent players do - is what you look at. Offline, you press buttons and things happen. Consistently. Anyone can combo blindfolded, so knowing what is happening when you press buttons allows you to focus on watching the opponent. Doing this gives more time to react and by watching the other guy move, spacing gets better. Since online is less consistent (losing around 8-15 frames on a good connection) pressing buttons does not guarantee an attack. So I subconsciously stare at my character to visually confirm what he's doing at I think really drops the level of play. Also, I won't be on this weekend again Qq -

Focus was not the best word. More like field of vision. In a fast game like bb or mvc it's easier to keep track of everyone on screen when it's smaller. I can't fight on screens when I have to move my head during a jump -

Most people probably have heard this before, but crt tube whatever tvs are the way to go. Not only lag reduction, but smaller screens help in fgs too because the characters stay in focus instead of - for example - eating air grabs and not reacting when a large screen makes a quick jump go to your peripheral vision. Reaction time with small crts is >. I keep a dual setup at home. Then again this is the online thread, sooooo go I should say 70 inch plasmas are the only way to go. -

Woohoo - got ps3 wired online and stabilized. Still on an island but that means I can play this game again. Still haven't tried extend ranked except with lamda. Also I love purple grabs but only on round 1 and with valkenhayn. me: legit combo ruIned by purple grab. Opponent: gee I better not mash tech during his combos. Internet: huge lag spike at hit 20. Combo goes blue, player is not pushing buttons. I pretend it's legit and do a blue 6.7k cheer. I'm so legit. -

He's not that hard. Especially netplay kune. Just don't use dives out of combo and remember that 5A > everything anyone else can mash. Mash 5A into f of g = win -

Ara is a lot different from his glory days - back in ct when I used to actually play him instead of messing around periodically online. He's much more defined (see limited) because his optimal stuff is so established. Like if I get a counter I'm going for the biggest curse builder, and with curse I'm doing the curse loop. What makes him tough are all the technical nuances like rising block strings and zigging when you think he'll zag or whatever. That's why they all look the same unless you invest time into him. I don't bother online because he only excels at low or high level play and he has awful defense, so matches go 3 perfects or nothing. He is all or nothing. Like x factory. My point being most I run into don't bother with real movement and it makes me sadface -

Most (not all, but most) Arakunes I've run into have been pretty bad. The interesting thing about ara is there are miles between good and bad ones, but unless you play him it's hard to tell. He reveals his swag through interpretive dance instead of combos. And punishing stupid crap is the best reason to play this game. By definition stupid has to be punishable or at the very least a waste of heat (Noel air super, I'm looking at you). -

Good, good. Valk is well too. I even made a cute little bnb vid for beginners. I have a ? Recently I've been ending a lot of combos with j.ab j.c and then landing a j.c on my way down for oki. Everyone has seen this tons of times. For some reason the second j.c only comes out half the time. Any advice on landing the falling j.c after knockdown? -

Sort of. I've been out of the country for the last while. And also SCV happened to me. I still hop on for friend matches when I'm around, but I usually just play nonstop during the first few weeks after release because all the ghosts of previous players appear and then I'm back to facing the same 15 people. Very few people play for fun or improvement, and I get too much salt from people who are emotionally invested in netplay. I'll be back next month for more psn -

ggs to the Rachel room earlier, badguy and glirandly, it is my most hated fight - always has been. Not a bad matchup, I just have to play super specific to Rachel, and it tests my scrubby patience. -

It's based around the typical curse loop. I use a j.c overhead 2c then 2c landshark into dbug launch, normal curse loop 3 launches with pinwheel, rekka and dive, then with remaining meter it's 6a 5c 5d release cd bugs then a j.c down on the dbug launch land 6b then f of g. Loving it -

Yeah I can't believe it. I was in the lab for an hour working on an invention - inspired by Souji's return to bb - and I came up with a meterless 10k midscreen. Excited to try it out, I made a room. I got the start up confirm and was 0_O so so so ready to pull it off online and all of a sudden slllloooooowwwwww mooooootttiiionnn then the room asploded. I cried a little. Always tomorrow, I guess. Anyway gg for 10 seconds and ggs to alt accounts - that was all that was left. :C -
[CSE] Valkenhayn Combo Discussion (Updated: 6/7/13)
AdmiralKorngold replied to Kiba's topic in Archive
It's tricky because usually sturm is buffered, in this case, you input it after 236a hits. I would recommend only using this if it kills as there is so much more you can do after 236a on an otg opponent when you have 50 heat.
