Best Bout

Hey NW, We are talking about running a tournament for BB, possibly GG and MB if there is interest in the Portland area. Of course we have our venue that we run a few different types of tournaments at, this could be a stand alone event, or go in with our other fighting game event (Beatdown). Right now we are just looking to gauge the interest. Any players in the Portland area, we know some, but also know there are more, Vancouver WA?

Throwdown Tuesdays A public casuals event dedicated to SSF4 and other fighting games. This is to be a weekly training session at Best Bout Gaming in South East Portland. We'll have consoles (PS3, 360, & Wii's) and lag free monitors set up for SSF4, MVC3, MK9 and other games as players demand. If you are showing up specifically for a game that is not one of the games listed, it would be wise to let us know ahead of time. X-Factor Fridays Best Bout Gaming is going to be open Friday nights now as well. This night will be more social oriented and will include all types of games including Wii Party games, Fighting Games, Racing Games, Retro Games, and much more! Players are encouraged to bring any games they would like to play as well. We open at 7pm, come get some games in, check out the neighborhood (and bars if applicable), meet some cool peeps, and kick it. See you there! People are welcome to bring friends and fellow gamers as well, and it should be a good turn out. If you are attending please let us know! We hope all regulars can make it out, and of course all new peeps are welcome. The larger goal of this venture is to promote our local scene, and level up in the process. fighting games are now larger than they have ever been, things have been blowing up in the last couple of years. Best Bout Gaming Grand Opening and Best Bout Beatdown Tournament - May 6th & 7th 2011 What? Grand Opening Our grand launch will be on Friday May 6th, 2011 starting at 7pm. Expect this event to go late into the evening ; ) To show our appreciation to the community, this will be a Free Play Night, no entry fee all games are free. We welcome everyone to come check it out, take in a game, and enjoy the location. The cross street of SE 49th and Division has many fine restaurants, bars (if of age), food carts, and even a convenience store. It is a very lively area, we encourage the people to check out the neighborhood and what it has to offer! Last night we had two new players show up and sadly the other BB players were not there . We'll have public casual stations setup for SSF4, MVC2, SFIIHDR, Tekken 6, and BlazBlue and other games as players demand. Ranking system We will be operating an open ranking system at these events based on the Game Spot Versus League in Japan. When you arrive at the venue you may enter a queue to play ranking matches at the designated station. 4-6 people from the queue will play at the station "arcade style" - that is, winner stays, losers goes to back of line - and count there win-loss difference. If any player reaches a positive win-loss difference of +3, they will rank up. If any player reaches a negative win-loss difference of -3, they will rank down (unless they are at the lowest rank). For any given ranking station, only players of the same rank will play. Thus, if any players in the rotation ranks up or down, they will give up there spot and another player from the queue will join the rotation. We will run stations for various ranks as the rank distribution among attendees necessitates. Each player-character pair is considered a unique entrant in the ranking system.
