  1. ahahahaha white long I said you can get gloves for $50, but if that's what you meant to type, I picked mine up at a local motorcycle shop as far as cheap goes, make sure whatever you get has enough power to get on the highway if there will be one on your regular route, as most anything under 200cc isn't quite going to cut it
  2. There isn't really gear "suitable for an absolute beginner", but more just gear suitable for the kind of riding you'll be doing. The "bare minimum" that you would expect to ride around in for a daily commute around town would be jeans, a leather jacket, full-fingered gloves made of leather or some sort of other abrasion-resistant material, shoes that cover your ankles, and of course the helmet is mandatory. For the gloves, not much to say - no need to go overkill here with armoured racing gloves or anything, you should be able to find a good pair for like $50. Ditto for the jeans and leather jacket; the material these are made of will naturally provide protection against abrasion. As far as boots go, while it is nice to have comfortable waterproof riding boots if you plan on doing a lot of riding (I own a very nice pair of gaernes that set me back about $200), honestly lots of people will just ride in runners. That being said, as you're just beginning, depending on the intensity of your course you may find yourself randomly dismounting quite often, and the ankle protection will be worth its weight in gold - even hiking boots should tide you over for the duration of your course, as long as you can freely bend your feet along the vertical plane to work the shifter and rear brake. Finally, the helmet. While it may be tempting to just buy the cheapest helmet that will fit, personally I think the helmet is far and away the most valuable piece of protective equipment in this entire ensemble, and I don't think many people would disagree. So, with that said, why wouldn't you spend the extra money to make sure you've got the best in this category? Expect to drop US $300-400, and look for brand names like Shoei or Arai, who are well-known for their quality and reliability. One thing to note here: there are two categories of qualifications helmets can fall under - DOT (US department of transportation) or SNELL. You can find which one a particular helmet falls under by looking for a little decal on the bottom of the rear of the helmet. There is a bit of debate over which standard is "better" (you can google DOT vs SNELL for some quick summaries) but from personal experience people tend to hold SNELL in higher regard. That being said, the important part here is that if a helmet has neither, it's not even worth consideration (though if you stick with Shoei or Arai like I said, this won't be a problem whatsoever). Some other advice... you might hear the acronym ATGATT get thrown around, it stands for "All The Gear All The Time", as in "even if I'm just riding my scooter down to the grocery store a block away". While it's a nice standard to hold yourself too, realistically speaking, once you start getting comfortable on a motorcycle you'll probably start slacking off on the gear front. A personal example would be sometimes not zipping up my leather jacket when it's hot outside, which, if you think about it, really defeats the purpose of wearing the leather jacket in the first place, because if I happen to get in an accident and land on my chest that flimsy t-shirt I'm wearing underneath is not going to be doing anything for me. That being said, I kind of treat it like the whole bicycle/ski helmet debate - there's no doubt whatsoever that it's safer to wear gear than not, but everybody is free to live their life how they choose, and if you're enough of an adult to freely choose to smoke or do drugs or whatever, you're enough of an adult to ride with as much or as little gear as you please. That being said, you can look up pictures of road rash if you want to dissuade yourself from ever riding with less than the bare minimum. Closely related to this is the SQUID - Stupidly Quick, Underdressed, Imminently Dead. This would be a prime example. Finally, if you're going to be buying a motorcycle that's not just a scooter or something, the majority of people will tell you not to start on a powerful bike (usually 600cc+ is the given starting point), while you might hear some personal anecdotes about "oh I started on a litrebike and I did just fine" or "man I started on a 250cc and traded it in months later because it was too weak". It goes without saying that regardless of how much attention or care you take, it's that much easier to screw up on a more powerful bike - for example, it's pretty much not physically possible to roll-on wheelie a 250cc, and you really have to be going out of your way to clutch wheelie it in 1st gear. If your hand slips while on the gas of a 250cc bike you're going to end up with scuffed fairings and a blow to your pride. On the other hand, if your hand slips while on the gas of a litrebike, you might end up with half a ton of metal on top of you. So yeah, keep that in mind when you're doing your research for your first bike. Speaking of which, what would you be looking for? A scooter, sportbike, cruiser, offroad, tourer?
  3. damn, marlinpie. daaamn. also 24:30 was super dope
  4. I've seen that and I don't know how he managed to fuck it up also, the beatdown is hilarious, one guy is just hammerfisting the fuck out of the guy towards the end
  5. I was running numbers against DD/choice gyarados sets, salamence needs dragon gem for OHKO with draco meteor while hydreigon has varying percentages depending on the exact HP EVs which turn into guaranteed OHKOs with hazards/weather/etc I know bug bite is scizor's strongest STAB but it's hard to ignore the utility offered by u-turn where are you getting 81.25% to OHKO on hitmontop? I don't get that even with 0 HP EVs and it looks like most run 252. but yeah lum on dragonite will also help ward off possible burns or paralysis, not just give you a free outrage by the way do you actually have all these guys ready? isn't it tomorrow? lol
  6. I think encore on whimsicott is the right idea well now you have three guys with draco meteor, you might as well swap one out for outrage... on salamence maybe? drop dragon pulse for outrage hahaha. but as far as salamence goes if you keep him modest then yeah I think having the OHKO on fire blast makes up for the accuracy drop, particularly if you get some form of entry hazard up... could you maybe drop scizor for stealth rock lead metagross? hydreigon with dark pulse is a fair choice over EQ, with life orb it gives you a guaranteed 2HKO on max sdef max hp cresselia allowing you to drop her without issue if you predict correctly... also solves jellicent via 2HKO among other things, though you lose 2HKO on specially defensive tentacruel (still 2HKO on defensive tentacruel). you won't have room for protect because you can't give up any other moves; superpower gives you OHKO on tyranitar and 2HKO on blissey and heatran. stealth rock really helps out with not having to predict because you can 2HKO the latter two with draco meteor and superpower, with stealth rock in play. and yeah hydreigon will be eating tons of life orb recoil but his role on your team is to break walls, he's got enough bulk to sponge non-super-effective hits on switch-in, steamroll a guy, then get out... but it all comes down to prediction. physical dragonite is a lot stronger, you could lum outrage him, maybe even give him dragon dance or extremespeed while you're at it. speaking of intimidate, outrage will still OHKO salamence at -1 from both dragonite and haxorus, draco meteor obviously does the trick as well. gyarados is 2HKO from -1 outrage from dragonite and haxorus, salamence and hydreigon both OHKO with draco meteor. I don't know about bug bite on scizor... pursuit or u-turn feel like stronger options. also I love scizor but I'm trying to find a spot for entry hazards on your team without dropping any more dragons and it's tough... metagross? ferrothorn/forretress??
  7. salamence.. why 30 all IVs if you're not gonna use HP? lol anyways I'm not a big fan of draco meteor + dragon pulse, especially with protect; you're lacking a huge amount of coverage, and doesn't fire blast over flamethrower give you some important OHKOs? also if you're looking for a special sweeper there is absolutely no reason to take modest salamence over timid hydreigon, who still hits harder even with a neutral nature, outspeeds, and has better bulk lol scarf haxorus... you can consider jolly over adamant but otherwise this is pretty standard legend of yache garchomp... is fire fang solely there for skarmory? because without boosts or weather fire fang is only gonna do 25-31% to skarm, you'd be much better off having something else deal with skarm and taking dragon claw/stone edge instead for coverage mild dragonite..? he doesn't even have any physical attacks why not just modest? or perhaps stick on roost and t-wave as well and abuse that multiscale, also I would definitely trade out roar for dragon tail so you can do some damage while you're shufflin... every day i'm para-shufflin'. if you do that then the post-draco meteor spa drop still leaves him moderately useful (or better yet give him outrage AND draco meteor lolol) whimsicott... you could drop something for leech seed? as it is though I feel like it's barely going to survive long enough to get tailwind AND safeguard up scizor definitely could use superpower for the notes: as far as cresselia goes I feel like having stun spore/toxic or subseed whimsicott would do the trick, but it would be nice to have more than just one status inducer, or even some entry hazards. lack of weather control brings up the concern of rain teams - your only concern should be bulky water-types that you can't break through like jellicent or tentacruel, and swift swimmers. for the former - you need a better wallbreaker, for the latter you have scarf haxorus. I really don't think whimsicott losing speed tie to other whimsicotts is as large of a concern as not having the focus sash which potentially lets you get both safeguard and tailwind up. CB haxorus means next to nothing switches in on him safely but then you ideally need a partner that can deal with any of the potential switchins - earthquake doesn't handle skarm, flamethrower/fire blast can't deal with heatran, and one of your mixed sweepers needs both. mold breaker earthquake hitting hydreigon isn't an issue because even +2 earthquake from adamant haxorus only has a 30% chance to OHKO hydreigon (unboosted earthquake 3HKOs); more importantly, hydreigon outspeeds haxorus 98 to 97 - unless haxorus is scarfed - in which case everyone on your team not named scizor is OHKO by unboosted dragon claw anyway (remember, mold breaker ignores multiscale...). outrage-induced confusion - weren't you going to lum berry someone? TLDR hydreigon pls
