  1. As this is MU discussion ^ all makes some sense. I think on paper Axl is better than he is. As a no-name, non-ranked, -non-respected player I feel that he immediately becomes super low teir when put in a corner. Block right or guess right are your only options in most cases, IMO.
  2. Oooooo, I see. Rather interesting. What happened to the "original" idea that Raven was Axl of an alternate timeline?
  3. Been playing this game on pad until Xrd but since grabbing a stick I've been unlearning-then-relearning the arcade default (rainbow). Mostly because I'm an arcade purest when I play games, partly because I was hopeless last time I went to JP so if I ever find myself at a cabinet I"m not fumbling around. Was weird at first but you realize that it's that way for a reason other than for the sake of being different. I play Axl so now K,S,HS flow logically. Only issue I have with it is funky placement of leveled-attacks in relation to buttons. High-mid counter is P which is the button below K which is the Low Counter (though my issue there is the way I learned pad). His Sparrow stance attack levels are also a bit strange on that layout.
  4. There's a Matchup section. http://www.dustloop.com/forums/index.php?/forum/320-matchups/ There's already a Sol section: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/index.php?/topic/10315-axl-vs-sol/
  5. Yeah! I should've elaborated in that I'm quick to Chicken Block without FD. I feel it's more of a general bad habit because I'm not using it stratigically. In Xrd it seems get blown up way more than in other games. I'll look into better use of FDC though. Been meaning to anyway. Thanks! There's nothing wrong with that. I don't ever really have a sub in any game I play but I'll use matches against weaker characters to play whomever I feel like playing to keep me "limber". I feel that in certain games, GG included, you can do quite well as a character specialist so long as all your character knowledge and comfort.
  6. As an MvC2 player since the beginning of time my biggest habit that hurts me in Xrd is fuuuuucking chicken blocking. You can't naked chicken block in Xrd and I keep auto-upbacking when I feel unsafe. Bad habits I have overall are: -choking and simply going for a throw in a big whiff situation (whiff DP), which, in Xrd with meter and being an Axl player isn't soooo bad but I could be doing better things with the opportunity most of the time. -Impatience. IRL I'd wager that I'm the most patient person I know. In fighting games though my aggression is through the roof. So naturally, I tend to suffer hard at neutral, which is in my opinion the most important part of fighting games. Lack of good neutral is what's kept me from being a "good" player in every single fighting game ever. You'd think I'd learn. My tips on breaking/not developing bad habits? -Use training mode to build muscle memory, this way when you're in a situation to do damage you react to it properly. DON'T run your practice on a static dummy. Fine, if you're trying out a combo but really good for developing a "I'm fighting a dummy" mentality in your subconscious. I suggest setting/recording the dummy to do -something- while you practice on it. This is because your opponent is not going to just stand there. Try to keep switching it up, that way you're learning but not getting complacent. -Try to either fight stronger players often OR find a "rival". They both have their cons though; players that are much better than you can often be completely disheartening making it hard for some to grasp what's going on and playing often against a friend who's also growing as a player will build upon both of your skills but you can also grow too familiar with their playstyle leading you to autopilot more often than you should. If I find myself playing against weaker opponents I prefer spending those low-risk matches trying all sorts of new things from combos to attack priority because it's not as dangerous to take a hit in these situations. Try not to use these matches to work on setups because you're playing against the inexperienced. Any player-based interaction in these matches shouldn't be committed to memory.
  7. I've seen it on stream. Seems kind of exclusive though ;[
  8. Aside from UGC are there any other gatherings? I find it hard to believe that such a large area is Online only.
  9. Was listed as something to be available for mobile phones post launch but since then I've heard nothing of it. Did it turn out to be JP only? Not super concerned, as it's fluff, but still curious as to what happened to it.
  10. So, when I posted I was having a particularly hard time with Elphelt. I managed to do a bit better over time, still not too confident against her. One thing that helped greatly was dealing with Pineberry on neutral. I'd throw out 5p and either try to catch them in start up or cooking the grenade, otherwise, if the threw it I'd attempt max range 5p or 6k to trade with the grenade. This kills the inertia of the grenade and makes it fall short. Seemed to take a bit away from her pressure,
  11. Not seeing Axl vs Elphelt. Seems like I can't jump in on her at all. Only option looks to be to just stay midscreen and wait for her to do something dumb. I'd like to know some more consistent strategies other than just playing footsies. Feeling very Millia esque after knockdown but on then I also can't bully her.
  12. Noticed this: The Bottom (top) of Faust's Bag reads: Wandering Doctor Faust.
