Adapted from the Akihiko thread as I believe it's also pretty useful against Mitsuru: "One thing I've found pretty useful to keep her out (and this goes for a bunch of matchups really) is midair A Agi. That move has a deceptively good hitbox near the bottom! I time it such that the Agi barely catches the head of the opponent as he rushes in, then hold A to let the Agi stay there if they didn't rush in. This puts the fireball just at the right height to cover both air and ground approaches, then you can use zoning tools like B Agi / Maragi / Fans / D moves at your leisure, protected by the A Agi's fireball." Also remember that an early AoA can beat Coup and random pokes. Neutral jumps are pretty useful in general to keep her from just rushing you with Coup over and over, too. Don't forget than when she's right in your face with frame advantage and threatens to low / throw, you can just hop to beat both, and even on a wrong guess (if she does some standing normal) it's often awkward for her to get big damage off hitting your hop. It's sometimes safer than Dia, is way way better if she just blocks, and obviously leads to more damage. Also remember that she's a charge character, so crossing her up with an A+C evasive action or a jump can eat her Coup charge and reduce her options. Backdashes are pretty lame in general against her (she just has too much range), but a well-placed Dia is often insanely useful to regain control. I recommend immediately setting a B Agi and/or Maragi over her immediately after hitting with Dia, and not bother using Fire Boost at all (keeping her away for a bit to keep momentum is too important). Unlike other matchups, 5A will basically never hit anything from neutral, don't even try it. Just use the 2A low kick when at frame advantage. Other than that, do generic Yukiko stuff and win. Sounds simple, right? :o

I've found this is very much a momentum-based matchup, in the sense that when at frame disadvantage, avoid pushing buttons (except Dia / well-timed B Agi when at fullscreen) because odds are very good you'll just get interrupted. And when at frame advantage, press that advantage by throwing everything you can at the opponent, it works.

One thing I've found pretty useful to keep him out (and this goes for a bunch of matchups really) is midair A Agi. That move has a deceptively good hitbox near the bottom! I time it such that the Agi barely catches the head of the opponent as he rushes in, then hold A to let the Agi stay there if they didn't rush in. This puts the fireball just at the right height to cover both air and ground approaches, which is pretty frustrating for Akihiko as he doesn't have good ways to force you to block and erase the fireball. Then you can use B Agi / Maragi / Fire Boost / Fans / D moves at your leisure, protected by the A Agi's fireball. Stand C is also really good against Akihiko's approaches, I mostly alternate between stand C and neutral jump -> midair A Agi at round start.

When getting up in Kanji's face, I coinflip between hop / DP (beats throw, loses to DP) and block (beats DP, loses to throw). There isn't much else that's valid. Rolls and normals just lose to both, don't do them. My favorite tool when I need to regain some distance is a well-predicted IAD airthrow.

Yukiko's DP is at an adequate place on the bullshit-o-meter. -
I like to neutral jump at the start of the round. If she opens with Coup, great, I land on her and deal damage, and if not it's generally safe. My other openers are stand C (to catch jumps or non-Coup attacks), instant air dash A / airthrow to punish backjumps (it's tricky to punish that), or jump back and 1D as a hybrid Coup / block punisher.

Last year, I rented a minivan for five of us and we shared one hotel bedroom at the Red Roof, it came to a bit over 200$ per person for gas+car+hotel. I reserved way in advance for the van and hotel though, so it's probably pricier than that atm. -

Still not quite as good as it was in #R... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcj0lOCQFQo Edit: Though it's real hard to beat Millia's death scream for maximum pornophonics. -

No game ever goes as fast as 10 ms per frame aka 100 frames per second. The literal best you can get with our TVs is 60 fps. Fortunately you made a typo because that gif is 100ms per frame aka 10 frames per second. What normally happens with fighting games is that the game itself runs at 60 fps and the animation frames are interspaced unevenly across that 60 fps. Even super old games like Super Turbo run at 60 fps and sometimes use a frame of animation for only 1f aka 1/60th of a second (Guile's huge sprite for Flash Kick only displays for 1f) but the general rule is that "animation framerate", i.e. the rate at which you actually change the image, jumps all over the place depending on the needs of the particular animation. I don't actually know what BB Platinum's idle pose uses for animation frame data but my gut feeling is that it probably spends less than 100ms (6f) on some images of the animation. Now gif animations add another layer to the problem because they won't run at 60fps in an actual web browser anyway. Basically, having very small delays between frames works wildly differently in different browsers, with the result that your gif never runs as fast as you'd expect it to if you're doing anything over 10 fps. In particular, IE is hardcoded to have a max gif speed of 10 frames per second (or at least it has been for a damn long time, I haven't checked later versions), so anything with frames using a delay below 100ms won't animate at the correct speed in at least IE. Edit: Also that particular gif is kind of wonky. Frame 11 (with the hip at leftmost) is missing so the animation stutters, and Platinum's body just isn't properly positioned across the anim (just look at how her feet move around when they're supposed to be fixed). -

The gears were pretty damn guilty tonight. Shoutouts to PS2 sticks! *** Edit: For MAT, I'm trying to figure out when to run HD Remix. On Saterday, SF4 starts around 1:00 and MvC3 starts around 3:00, so I was thinking about maybe starting HDR around 5 or 6, when a bunch of people have been eliminated from SF4 / Marvel and thus are free to join. Which brings me to my question. How many of you guys want to enter both Guilty Gear Accent Core and Street Fighter 2 HD Remix? Just trying to see how much overlap there is, to try to avoid stepping on each other's toes. -

Coming up to the HQ, hopefully get some Guilty Gear going. I desperately need some play time in that game, lol. -

Random Axl player in the house! Thanks for the games. :china: My left hand still hurts from these PS2 pads, damn the lack of PS2 sticks. *** At general request, I present to you: Akatsuki Blitzkampf (edit: removed by request). Don't laugh, it's a real game! (Note: that's a preinstalled folder copy, so my settings are still in there - in particular you might want to set forceJoystick=0 and name=not Thelo, and remap controls)
