Akatsuki Netplay Nethack developed by mauve: If you want it, connect to: irc.mizuumi.net and join channel #akatsuki If you've attempted to netplay with the latest patch, chances are you probably weren't too pleased with the results. However, a nethack that makes the netplay for Blitzkampf considerably less sucky has been released. (Big & gigantanormous Kudos to mauve for taking his time to do this). The .zip file includes a hacked .exe and a readme file that is composed of directions and changes applied by mauve to make this thing work. For those that won't bother reading the readme file, Here's how it works: 1. Unzip the contents of the archive 2. Copy the nethack .exe file into your Akatsuki folder 3. Open the nethack .exe file and connect like you would with the regular netplay There's a few key things that should be known. First of all, the nethack will only work with people using the nethack. Also, this nethack only works for version 1.1.3.1 SP1. It should also be kept in mind that mauve has no intentions of doing this for the following patches (because he pretty much had to decipher the whole netcode, figure out what does what, and tear it apart to make it function as well it does now). However, if you want to discuss things, (or if you just want to find people to try the nethack with) feel free to drop by the #akatsuki channel on the mizuumi irc server.

I've been playing against several people in the mizuumi irc channel, and I have to say the newly updated netplay is pretty good. I've been getting decent lag even from people on the opposite coast. We got the Matchmaking configurations figured out and it should be posted on the wiki pretty soon. It seems like it's more or less like the Nintendo DS Friend Codes. I'm thinking people should post their matchmaking codes up on the wiki as well. Though, it looks like it needs updates, as some of the online players won't show up as being online. Also, I'm a bit curious if any of the characters received any boosts/nerfs? So far, it doesn't seem like the existing characters got any significant changes.
