  1. yes, very true. The mixups in vampire savior are border line impossible to block, some are very impossible and what that creates is dedication on defense. Its the main reason why the top tier has 3 characters in it with hi\low pressure games, sas\bee\raptor its either an allure or a turn off for players. I personally welcome the speed in a world full of slow modern fighting games. and even though hi\low is broken, several low tier players have routinely got top 3 in big tournaments. like lilth being on the winning team this year as I'm sure you know well, that only depends on your push block method. I routinely open up with lk, mk as my push attempt to solely dodge the accidental DF. To get a DF, the input has to be rather fast, like 1-2 frames or some shit within each other. The push I go for is lk, mk, lp, mp,fp, I've been pushing like this for about a year now and I'd say less than 1% of the time do I actually input an accidental DF. I play on a pad and the first 4 buttons are the face buttons. On a stick you can use your thumb to tap lk, then drag it to the right to hit mk, then piano, fp>mp>lp. 5 hit tech, opens up with lk first for fastest wiff possible, will tech a throw and it prevents accidental DF's from happening. and just for shits and giggles, some characters can exploit a df input+push attempt. sas can DF for gold armor but it counts as 1 button input towards a push, any simultaneous input will register as 1 button for a push iirc. so shit like, DF, piano, will equal a 4 button push but also give you the opportunity for a DF as your first input. Like say someone was trying to do a throw setup on you and went for a df os push, you wouldn't get a push anymore it would go into your DF and in some cases, allow you to get away too clean. I will say for my first 2 years of the game, trying to push block always lead to that shitty DF here and there and it would make me pretty mad but actually working around the game, I've actually learned to love the push block. You just have to be smarter than the input windows =p
  2. I've sent it to the VS regulars on ggpo and none of them are having problems with the program so I know it works when set up properly. Sorry I couldn't make it more user friendly, I was limited by the emulator
  3. http://www.sendspace.com/file/cmvrlq note* to program this, I basically had to program a sequence. If you hit the character out of the jump during the pushblock exercise, it will animate the rest of the sequence anyway which makes it look weird but it should go back to jumping shortly afterwards. note* its vitally important you set up your training like this. 1p is you, 2p is set to keyboard and the buttons you need to setup are. lp=a, mp=s, fp=d, lk=z, mk=x, rh=c, udlr= arrow keys. I would of created a save state but FBA will not remember the inputs so you will have to input those yourself. redid the exercises and some changes. EDIT************* - added full chicken block to practice guard breaks. - added a reversal practice after knock down. - added FBA playbacks so new players can see how to use the exercises to prevent confusion.
  4. brand new players who have no experience should try the 4 push method first because of the simplicity\probability of the push thumb hits lk, top 3 are regular piano fp,mp,lp thats 50%, not risky if you wiff because its a light attack, option select tech throw and combo starter. Its probably the best one to use for newer players IMO. However 50% is 50%, meaning that once you master it, you'll have to update your push to the 5-6 one. However, 4 for right now should give you a really good perspective about the push. all forms of good pushblock are option selects and depending on what you start with determines the options that are given to you. you can start a pushblock with lp+lk which is a dark force, then piano and I think the game registers that as a 4 button input. Dual presses count as 1 button but this 4 push block method will trigger a dark force on wiff rather than wiffing a normal and quite a few characters in the game have invincible startup on their dark force and other have super armor. However on block, you get a 50% push. lastly, I believe you can start doing command grabs+push attempts if your character has a command grab that doesn't have a wiff animation. For instance bee has no wiff on her command grab, w\e button overrides the button priority will animate. so things like hcb+lp, piano 3 buttons is a different types of OS compared to the dark force vairation. the whole push block thing can get REALLY deep, @ the highest level you have to start combining your push block attempts with option selects. There are others to note but those are 3 different examples of how a push block can be an option select. Once you know how the game is going to register the inputs, its not that hard to start making them up on your own.
  5. I've played VS on ggpo since 2k7 and the only character I truly know in the game is bee. If anyone has any questions about what the character should do, hit boxes, mixups, matchups vs other characters, I can help with that. run down on the character AA's, s.lp, c.rh, c.fp, s.mk, s.rh alternative AA's, dashing underneath, chicken guard poke or iad, j.fp air to air for tip, j.rh on top, iad mk\mp\rh for air to air poke. IAD MP can serve as an OS jump mp poke or air throw. Also the dashing pokes can be good AA. In a spot where s.mk can lose because of hit box placement from the opponent, dashing back s.mp will win because its detached @ the tip. Dashing s.mk in certain situations also has the same practical function. iads need to be master to play this character. If you can't iad 10\10, that handicap will only hold you back. She has no projectiles, other than the super which can be easily stopped, so you have to base your game around normals and baiting into your mixup game. Definitely one of the best mixup characters in the game, lots of way to get a hit IMO. Also probably the fastest IAD mixup in the game. learning when to crouch can be incredibly vital. She ducks the lowest in the game and this can affect certain characters standing pokes. A character might have a standing poke that hits everyone but it will miss bee. Your opponent will sooner or later factor this in and switch to another poke and you can counter. the IAD itself can be saved if you IAD the wrong directions. Since its a homing IAD, she does go the wrong way from time to time. You can use the qcb+K move in the air to get distance away from the opponent to make your landing safer. You really don't want to float down from those as she can be hit quite easily. poke sets s.mp, c.mp, c.mk, c.lk are all good "check" pokes. You can establish her game off these for free. Poke iad or poke bait and punish.
