After trying this out today, I discovered that this may or may not be a safe option against Morrigan (or possibly Demitri and Lilith. Especially Demitri) because of wakeup ES Shadow Blade. I'm going to have to play with it more, since this is just from one day's experience on GGPO and only against one opponent. Perhaps the timing needs to be altered or just simple conditioning/knowing your opponent's tendencies needs to be applied. Though it doesn't provide you with an anti-upback and lead into TRH, f.MP also works nicely for keeping the opponent out of your face longer if they roll backward or walk backward after waking up. EDIT: This also seems to allow you to get a throw OS if you land close enough. I need to test this on more people.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3zoJUUJB20 At the beginning of this match, Sako backdashes towards the edge and does a Pendulum right out of the airdash. A few times, Diar moves the screen and you can see Sako whiffing a j.LP, though he might just be doing this to recover quicker since that uses up both of his air actions. How is Sako doing this, and what purpose does it serve? He seems to be using it to stay airborne a bit longer so he doesn't have to block fireballs. So far, I've gotten it once while airdashing forward in training but haven't been able to replicate it. I also just tried doing it with the Gong by buffering an RDP and got it once (since pressing the opposite direction during an airdash cancels it). I'm thinking the timing is either very strict or just very weird, seeing as Lei's airdash has that weird bit of lag on the end of it. Don't know how many frames it is, though. Perhaps it has something to do with empty air chaining, since you can do that with specials from normals, too? EDIT: It's actually explained at the bottom of the first page of this thread ><

Kyle, you forgot Lei's H Anki Hou unblockable. Also, what do you mean by 'proxy drop'?

[VS] Gaming/Online Information/Console Differences/Dipswitches
GWONAM replied to Korey's topic in Vampire Savior
To be specific, it's her sister saying "Ikuyo Lei-Lei" (Let's go Lei-Lei!). Silly piece of info I felt compelled to impart. Carry on. Though I do wonder why the overseas releases don't have it. -
Something I haven't seen mentioned before and thought might be worth noting, or at least for finding out what happened: I was messing around in training the other day practicing Anki Hou H setups. I threw a stun item and went for an IAD j.HK. When the hammer hit Wolf, he didn't get stunned and he instead went into hitstun like normal. I think my j.HK hit at the same time as the hammer hit, but I don't see why that would negate the stun. Anybody know what happened here? I couldn't recreate it, though I should try again.

Yeah, I knew that about the emulators/GGPO speed. That's a good way of putting it. Upback gets destroyed in this game because of grounded normal properties and it's something I really need to cut out, which I can only do through playing more. And thanks for the offer, I'll be sure to keep that in mind.

I have a similar question and am in a similar situation. A couple months ago, I dropped all other fighters to make this my main (and only) one and to actually get serious with it instead of just talking about it all the time and lurking videos/databases. I can pull off my BnB's and all that in training, but unless I'm against someone else who's also new, I get bodied endlessly. And though I come close to beating a better player or beat them a time or two, it's usually terrible. As in, I can barely escape the corner/start my own pressure and even flub a simple magic series more often than not. I feel like I'm learning but I can't apply and just keep mashing only to get blown up. I'm not dropping the game because I have a lot of fun with it, I enjoy learning, and I want to get better. I just feel like I should be at least seeing a little progress but I feel like I've barely gotten anywhere and am still just a mashy scrub. Is this normal? Am I thinking about this the wrong way? I was going to post this in the Facebook group, but figured it didn't need a big scrubby self-centered paragraph clogging it up.

Anything notable on Donovan?

Good shit to Kyle! Good shit to Kajoq! Good shit to everybody! UFGT Savior is gonna be amazing.

Snuggleguns, your images broke. EDIT: Actually, that's odd. The Chireitou images are broken on Mizuumi as well. Also, good point on that Pendulum. Maybe a double-cancel would work? That way, you're out of reach of being AA'd by ground normals.
-
Sorry for the double-post, but I thought this called for a bump. In practice, how reliable is using Pendulum as an anti-tech hit? The Pendulum helps you keep your momentum/pressure up. I haven't done it yet; I need to practice it more (requires some good reactions, I'd imagine). You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlCfzbPZv24#t=0m24s

Hmm, I'll just have to learn the matchup better in that case. And yeah, that was the problem. She'd swing back and dismount upon hitting the wall. I'll remember to use L.Pendulum from now on.
-
I get that occasionally. My only solution is to stay on neutral a split second long before doing the QC motion. With GGPO lag, I get fireballs when I want to do DP's. Should I be more deliberate with my inputs? The lag also seems to mess up TRH reliability.

Apparently, Anita does a little dance in the PSP game. I haven't played the PSP one; is there footage of this? And was it in the Japanese Chronicle?
-
What causes Lei Lei to sometimes automatically cancel her pendulum when used from the corner after a super? It seems to have something to do with the blades traveling during Chireitou, though I'm not sure what causes it during TRH. Also, who do you guys feel are her worst matchups? Naturally, Sas is nasty for just about anyone, but Bish is a pain too for her. He can take advantage of her not being able to deal with pressure directly in her face and his normals mostly seem superior to hers.
-
What was happening with Lei Lei's gong staying there and then suddenly releasing all of its items?
-
One thing I've noticed after watching Japanese LL footage is that they'll use Chireitou against Jedah more than other matchups. Why is this? More likely to hit him out of his airdash? Also, what causes TRH balls to sometimes knock the opponent down in the corner, even when they're blocking? I should get the hitboxes mod running to try to see what's happening.
-
What normal do you use to knock them out of the air? cr.HK if timed correctly?
-
Hmm… Interesting stuff. So if you hit an airborne opponent with M or H Anki Hou, they can block all ground normals on the way down? What does this allow Lei Lei to set up, if anything? Concerning the airchains, does that work with other characters as well? If not, what causes Lei Lei to do it?
-
Could you perhaps post a video of this? And also c.FPxxs.RHxxpendulum?
-
Wow. Thanks for compiling this!

(Mostly) useful hitbox stuff. Thought I'd post it here: http://dammit.typepad.com/blog/2010/09/darkstalkers-series-hitboxes.html

How about Hidacchi and Sasaduka for Lei Lei? I'll leave the Japanese name to you guys.

Yeah, a small section on Pendulum Cancels would help. It'd be good to mention how they're used to build Tenrai Ha meter, avoid stuff, etc. And maybe a section of brief matchup strategies as well for us new players?
