  1. I'm glad that this forum isn't dead yet. Despite me earning the platinum trophy in Xrd, I am still nowhere near the level I'd like to be at in terms of competitive play. Xrd (heck, the entire GG franchise) is the only fighter aside from Smash Bros. that I play regularly. I think it's a great series in terms of mechanics, of course, but I also enjoy all of the great characters and the lore. I kind of go through ebbs and tides with the game. Some days/weeks it'll be the only thing I focus on. I'm always down to play matches with everyone even if my skills aren't up to snuff. But fighting games aren't the only genre I play. As evidenced by my user name, I usually play RPGs and most of you know that those are a huge time sink. This, coupled with my growing backlog of games that are just itching to be played to completion, makes it hard to dedicate the time the rest of you have done. Throw in the 8 hour work day, the activities outside of gaming, social events, etc. and you can imagine I can get pretty busy. The last thing on my mind is spending hours on end in the Training Mode. So it's kind of a catch 22 because I want to get better but there are other things I'd rather do/play. I'm still kind of the "new guy" here, so do what you will with my two cents. My top pick for the game of focus is definitely Guilty Gear Xrd. I'll also suggest any of the Smash Bros. titles. I'd love to join everyone on 3/28 for that tournament even just to spectate, but I have a charity event that same day so we'll see if I can manage both. Finally, like I told Seiki from the beginning, I'd be more than happy to host a casual tournament/gathering at my place some time.
  2. Hey everyone! I realize that most of the folks here prefers to chat via Skype instead of this thread, but I wanted to post on here. The only time I really check my Skype account is when I'm on my phone. Unfortunately, I'm convinced that the application for Droid is nothing but a giant malfunction. I'm sure that the chat is very active, yet the application has a tendency to not "update" the chat so it looks like the last message that was posted was from a few days ago. By the time I get home from work, the last thing I want to do is look at my computer where Skype actually has some decent functionality. To say I hate Skype would be an understatement. ^^() So, I'm still here! I just don't have any luck with the preferred method of communication. I hope everyone is doing well.
  3. Possibly. I'll be playing more tonight so I'll just try to stick with the same (ish) method for each opponent and see if that works.
  4. I kind of alternate between IAD or doing a regular jump followed by 66/44. I guess it sort of depends on who I'm facing, like if they have more of a hitbox due to size or height or something.
  5. I messed around with it yesterday and started getting it more consistently. While the jD or 6HS might miss, the start-up was more spot on when I waited a little bit longer after the jump to do the 44 or 66.
  6. Question regarding this: c.S IAD j.SHD 6H. So, it's either an all or nothing thing with me. Sometimes I execute it properly, and then there are times when Venom won't even air dash. He'll just jump and execute jSH. Then, he'll land and do a standard D. Air dashing is hella-basic (44/66) yet he won't do the dash after making the inputs. Is it possible that I'm trying to do the move too fast?
  7. I hear that there's a going away party for Tad! I just met him and now he's leaving. Figures. XD Anyways, I want details on his going away shindig.
  8. I guess I'm still not following the multi-ball thing. I'm anxious to seem some videos with these changes.
  9. That's good news about the Bishop Runout being quicker. I really enjoy using it.
  10. Wait, so if you summon a ball and then hold a different button during the animation, a -SECOND- ball will come out?
  11. *sigh* I have to run an errand after work so I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it tonight, either. I swear, Tuesdays are just the worst.
  12. I have to say that I had a marvelous time meeting Seiki and everyone else this evening. I would have stayed longer if I had the option. Next time for sure. So, thanks to everyone for being super kind and for showing me that there are indeed other Guilty Gear (and other fighting game) players in this part of the state. I'd be happy to host a gathering at my place in the near future. ^^
  13. I faced off against a pretty good Chipp player yesterday. I won the first round, but he started to catch on and won the second and third rounds. The key to this match is to jump, run and never -EVER- stay still if you can. I try to avoid using Stinger Aim unless I can YRC it. I try to avoid QV-ing since it has a slow start up. Carcass Raid is kind of a crapshoot since good Chipp players can teleport away. If it does hit, do an air combo that knocks him away and set up a ball. Otherwise, I say play defensively and wait for an opening. There's really not much you can do since Chipp can decimate foes quickly. Luckily, a few hits here and there and he'll be hurting for days.
  14. I am (sort of) having the same problem as MoralHazardPay. Sometimes I can pull it off, other times I can't. All I know is that my thumb is starting to hurt.
  15. I also like the idea of a Venom lobby. I just wish joining a lobby/room wasn't such a crapshoot.
