Judging by his clothing underneath the yellow hooded cloak and all, I'd say that this Terumi is in the current timeline. Much like how Izayoi is Tsubaki's powered up form, I theorize that Terumi has...well, idk, somehow merged with his Hazama body. ...again. IDEK. Or maybe he no longer needs an Observer somehow and fully unlocks his powers. Take that, Hakumen. :P

To be honest, the only reason I'd get any DLC character is if I myself would play them at all competitively. For example, I didn't buy Platinum or Valkenhayn, but I did download Makoto. Both because I tried her and also because one of my local friends played Makoto.

I caught on immediately when I saw you playing against that Bang player. It's a great corner crossup though, IMO! If you pulled the timing off right, I'd be caught between using C.ID, blocking, or predicting your crossup. I just wonder though if predicting it I DP towards the corner in the process. But ultimately it's easier to tech the throw. Oh wait, so you mean you've connected your XBox's internet to the computer itself? That'd do it. Guessing the router is right beside the TV where you usually play? We'll have to play again when you've got a better connection, so more of our combos will connect and finish.

My suspicion is going to involve this character being much like Izayoi being Tsubaki's awakened form. Using something revolving around the Chronophantasma to combine his current body (Hazama) with his original body before he was offed by the Black Beast. Maybe by doing this he bypasses any need for an Observer, what with Celica coming back and all.

The way I see it, for the Phase 0-1-2-etc. stuff we'll probably get a couple or so fights that can be done with the playable roster, and the rest of the stuff just being played out via the story. My guess is we'll be getting Jubei, Nine (Phantom?), MAYBE Kokonoe to finish up the collection of the Six Heroes. As for Bloodedge being playable? I personally don't see it. In case this is spoilerish stuff (haven't read the novels so I'm going upon what I've read)... The original Terumi's got me really interested though.

As a Smash Bros. player, I know this all too well. ...not to mention I have the best taunt in the game. "You're too slow!" and "C'mon, step it up!" Pissed off a good couple of people in the process and proceeded to own them even further.

Honestly, who CAN function without their drives? Unless you're talking about many of Noel's combos starting with drives, I don't think it's a big deal. Frankly, I find characters like Arakune or Tao even worse to fight against. But that's just me.
