  1. Hello everyone! It's been a long time, but we're very proud to announce that levelup's Wednesday Night Fights is making its grand return and we will now be having tournaments for anime EVERY SINGLE WEEK! We are now in full control of the anime lineup and I am willing to add Uniel or other games if there is a legitimate amount of interest. Please let me know your thoughts and what games you would like on the lineup here in the thread. Facebook event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/774770872631257/ Games: Guilty Gear Xrd Blazblue Chronophantasma Extend Persona 4 Arena Ultimax **UPDATE** UNIEL When? EVERY WEDNESDAY beginning on October 21, 2015 Time TBD when levelup gives me an update. Where? eSports Arena 120 W 5th St, Santa Ana, California 92701 Stream: twitch.tv/jyosua Contact: twitter: @tloccpu @jyosua @levelupseries
  2. Honestly, this is a mess. Blazblue is still the final main game despite being the most outdated on the roster and the lowest numbers at west coast warzone. The brand new game, Persona, is at the beginning of the day before people even get there basically being shoved off to the side as a sidegame despite this being the first premier tournament for it in our region. UNIEL, the game featured at TRB and undoubtedly getting the most numbers, is just thrown somewhere in the middle with an unrealistic amount of time to finish before BB starts. What is going on here? I know I haven't been around in ages and I realize that I wasn't the world's best tournament organizer, but it looks like it's just completely lost any logic and sense of organization. I'm already hearing several people telling me this morning that they aren't even going to go because it's such a mess now and some of those people are a big reason why I even want to go hang out at this event at all. Has this become a one man show since the streaming changed? I don't see Jyosua even listed as a TO anymore. I love my game persona, and while it might not be the new overseers favorite game, I would think that the first release tournament would be giving the release game some sort of attention, not throwing it to the wolves to die before it's even alive. Honestly, my motivation to even come to this event that I've been looking forward to for weeks is completely and totally shot. If it weren't for my love for the arcade and In The Groove, I probably would have to pass on this and wait for the US release and TRB tournaments instead.
  3. To clarify what's going on here.. Fighting gamers at UCI has been very interested in trying to get an event for the Persona Ultimax release, specifically a pre release event or some sort. They got into contact with Atlus about such a thing. FG@UCI has always had a bit of trouble getting a proper turnout and Atlus really does want to hold an event there due to the size of the available rooms, and the proximity to the Atlus USA headquarters in southern california. It's an absolutely convenient location. I have been in contact with both Atlus and Jyosua via email to help kick something off like this. The easy solution would obviously be to move it to super arcade, however, Atlus has something bigger in mind for us that requires more space which is why they proposed UCI. At this time, it was only early planning. I brought up that there had been some recent bad blood between Jyosua and Super Arcade and that despite this not being Jyosua's idea at all, it would look like he was plotting something atrocious. To Watson, you have my absolute word that Jyosua did not plan this out on his own nor is he out to get you or permanently move this event. As someone who worked with you holding Rebel Up for more than a year, and someone who frequents your arcade both for fighting games and ITG, I would hope that you can take my word on this despite the recent bad blood between the both of you. Now this is where things get complicated. For whatever reason, the organizer of this thread is 100% against having a large event sponsored by Atlus with extra prizes at a different location. Why our main organizer doesn't want large events for us is beyond me, perhaps I've been gone too long from the scene to understand the motivations these days. From email communication at this time, it is my understanding that Delta very reluctantly agreed to do this at all and wasn't happy about this. We had not even entered the initial planning stages when the organizer decided to update this thread under nobody's instruction. We don't even know if we HAVE a room at UCI yet (you can't just walk in there and set up your game consoles, it's a university) let alone what the parameters or anything else are. In addition, both Jyosua and myself were instructed and had planned not to even begin talking about this because Atlus wanted to PERSONALLY compensate Watson for missing out on a weekend of rebel up to avoid this very issue. To me it honestly looks like after a reluctant confirmation between the organizer of this thread and Jyosua, bad blood was instantly instigated by updating this page with what is basically noninfo that is stirring up more trouble for everyone. The facts are, we aren't even ready yet. UCI was an idea being tossed up by Atlus, and is at this time still an unconfirmed idea. Jyosua was simply asked to see if the organizer would be willing to cooperate and that is ALL until they personally spoke with Watson and got back to us on what to do next. If Watson didn't agree to take the compensation for moving the event, there would be no move in the first place. I apologize for this long rambling post, but the important part is next. At this time, there is no full working plan for where the Atlus sponsored rebel up event is going to take place, whether or not it will even be partnered with rebel up, or when it will be. Please stand by for further updates from both myself and Mike Watson of Super Arcade.
  4. I'm not looking to hop in and take a side here, but it should be noted that while the airdashers and anime games are fighting games, they aren't received very well. Watson himself has stated on multiple occasions that he hates P4A as a game, and he's not alone, nor is P4A. This community takes a lot of crap from the fathering community, aka the street fighter and marvel communities. People simply don't like our games, and they will bandwagon in hatred for all of us with them. Levelup has seen nothing but extreme negativity from the viewers every time they've put p4a or blazblue on their stream, even just for a quick top 3. Cross Counter did a lot of videos with us when P4A came out, and you can see in the comments, nothing but constant negativity. I don't really care who streams what, but my concern is the audience. You can't throw a bunch of games from different genres into the same pool all on one stream because you're going to end up with a lot of hatred, bias, and bashing of our community. I've seen it happen so many times already and it's just not fair. We all have to (and many of us have already) accept that our interest in these games is niche, and that's why we've spent so much time building our own audience away from all of the negativity starting with James Xie's stream, into our community counterassault stream, and now onto Jyosua's. To erase all of that and throw the hated anime community back into the toxicity of the other communities is just a hard thing to do. At the very least I would suggest maybe a Super Arcade Rebel Up stream, so that our own viewers and base aren't scared away and turned off by the toxicity in the main chat, and the train can keep moving.
  5. Watson go ahead and put us down for November 2nd, we have confirmation from Aksys. We're going to still try to put something together on the 26th outside of super but we would like to have an event on the 2nd as well with you guys.
  6. Thread updated, September 28 is the date . See you all soon.
  7. This is pretty much correct besides the September 28 date. I will most likely have to schedule the next one a week before that since Sept 28 is the first week of school and it's going to be really busy. Besides that this is the basic plan. Once BBCP is out we're going to go back to bi-weekly.
  8. There's a chance I won't make it due to financial concerns. If I don't go I'm sure Jyosua will be able to handle it.
  9. i think bell has been itching for some arcana too. you guys might be able to get a side tourney going if people play that game
  10. Yeah nothing until then, I'm pretty swamped with finals and after they're done I'm going to visit my Dad for father's day. The weekend after that is Sanoshi's party so I didn't want to split up people that weekend so that put us on the 29th for the next one. Thanks for having us and keeping us going strong Watson!
  11. Everyone who has been attending please fill this out for me (it's only 5 questions), it will really help me improve the event and bring what you want! http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GZMRC8W
  12. Right now I'm not entirely sure what the headcount is, as we get closer I'm going to know. At most, we might need more tables which we can set up accordingly. We can plan this out when I see you later this week.
  13. It would be a huge help to me and super arcade if you guys could get bring extra monitors and consoles!! Thanks
  14. If there's any one for you guys to make it's definitely the May 18 one, we are going to have out of region guests and I want everyone to enjoy themselves and have a good time At this point I would also like to announce that after May 18 there will be no more entry fee for tournaments (You still need to pay super arcade 5 dollars for your wristband!!). Instead I'm going to issue a very simple fee of 1 dollar for the stream and for the team helping me run everything. If you read back, you can see that this wasn't my idea but the idea you guys came up with. Running the stream is indeed costly and I think 1 dollar is pretty much nothing to everyone and it really helps us move along as well so we can keep running events out here that nobody has to pay entry to. I know you guys want to have fun and come out to play with everyone so let's keep it that way. The plans after May 18 are a little fuzzy right now but I know most of you, including myself, have final exams coming up the weeks following the may 18 one. In light of this we're going to take about a month off and do another rebel up either June 22 or June 29 (mostly depends on what IEBattlegrounds wants to do with dates that month.). It will be free entry for the tournaments as explained above and it will be a final training session for the evo tournaments for our 4 main games (Blazblue, Guilty Gear, Gundam EXVS, Persona 4 Arena). We will probably just run single elim best of one tournaments for all games and dedicate the rest of the time to training and hanging out. After that we have Anime Expo which I'm sure a lot of you guys will be going to and they will probably have tournaments there as well as per usual. The week after that is Evo where we gotta show the world what socal has in all of our games! Following evo (Probably 2 weeks after), we are going to return to the biweekly schedule so hopefully this gives you all some insight on what's going on.
