  1. Why did you leave Star's room...I was looking forward to playing you. ;_;
  2. I think if Cookie didn't use her mains (Mu and Lamby) she and Star would have a good FT10. Maybe her Relius?
  3. I don't think helping people already interested in the game enough to look up these things is the issue here. It's about attracting new people into the game. I'm not even talking about helping people get better through announcing, just having the speech be something more than noise/distraction, buddies chatting about their personal subjects that random listeners wouldn't know anything about and have no reason to wanna listen to, with a few half-assed remarks about the matches happening on the background of their chat. Listening to it made the actual match feel like the background and the chat that was happening (about this one person who was getting a haircut or something) seemed to capture much more of their interest. It's kinda hard to get into the matches and get hype in that atmosphere. I'm not saying you have to beautify dumb choices, just...say "he uses 5A, and 2A, and 5A, get's counter hit cause he should be blocking there" or something akin to that, the fact that that's what he does will become apparent quickly enough. In any case, I already understand the purpose of this so there's little point to restating my original point, as it was based on my misinterpretation. I just feel like explaining my original thought process on the matter since some parts of it may have been unclear.
  4. I don't think the FT10s attempt to manufacture hype, merely generate it naturally. It's a good cause. I'm all for competitive focus. This focus is somewhat diluted when people speak of masturbation and "niggas" and all kinds of stuff in the skype voice chat though. I do realize this was a friendly thing among people comfortable with each-other thus some leeway should be granted but if we wish to have this competitive focus people need to be actually focused on the match and try and break down the events in an analytical manner that will provide the listener with insights and can be understood even by novices. "He's mashing" and "this game is stupid" is not descriptive enough, do bettorz! In any case, I think you can handle the announcing by yourself fine, just put your foot down a bit more about doing the voice work next time or something. XD
  5. Alright then, in that case I think this was quite a bit of fun indeed. I guess I went into this expecting something different than what it was intended to be, sorry for being overly serious or w/e. :p
  6. I'm sorry if I'm mistaken but I thought this was done in response to a thread made a while back about making online more active and whatnot. If it's not the case then I withdraw the above statement in it's entirety.
  7. I watched a bit of the youtube vid and paused to come here and comment. I think the shit talk is fun but at the same time I'd expect a bit more professionalism from the stream chat if this thing is intended to make outsiders come and take an interest in BB again...but ah well, it'll get there I guess. I think Star should be doing the announcing though, which he may in the later bits of the vid, I'll find out once I finish watching! In any case, calling someone a bitch for not counterpicking is not really productive. You could just as much praise him for being a character loyalist. No need to pick the asshole thing to say there, it doesn't make you look cool, all it does is makes us seem like a community of dicks.
  8. I imagine it would beat wolf Valk pretty easily if you manage to do it before he dashes over above you and you can likely punish anything Rachel throws up while airborn but it's just gonna make them play safe for a while till you're out of electricity. It's gonna be like how everyone acts on the ground basically, only gonna extend to the air as well.
  9. What ever happened with those bbvlog videos we used to have? I remember watching those a while back and that's the kind of content that we need.
  10. Just play and consider it training rather than a real match wherein victory is not winning but just learning something or improving a tiny bit, limiting yourself from matchup experience is...the exact opposite of training. XD
  11. You can use your anger and salt to grow a few extra arms and punch harder or you can let it consume you, the choice is yours. :D In any case, Star is if anything, a more than competent announcer for streaming tourneys, that's a fact. Back in cs2 we had this gfaqs tourney and he announced it with plenty of hype and humor. He even complemented my teammate Onishirou and his ryuissho-using Litchi. :D
  12. I don't think we need a kiddy pool for online tournaments. I think the money attracting the attention of more serious players is what we need to produce inspiring play and content which will draw more people to the game. If someone hears of LK winning tons of money on BB, they will perhaps think they too can have the chance and make it possible. The realistic chance of winning thing is just not really something that I see as necessary. There's still tons of people who enter evo for games like marvel and SF and I'm pretty sure most of them don't really think they'll win the whole thing, they enter anyways though, cause tourneys are fun and stuff. As for the chipping in thing, I think asking the participants and just presenting it as an option would be the best way to do it. Lag is gonna make you salty weather you put money down or not. If we get enough people it should be like 5 bucks per person tops, it really wouldn't have that much of an additional negative effect I think.
  13. On the matter of money for tourneys inspiring people, that is indeed so. I don't see why we'd need someone to donate it though. How do tourneys work offline? The participants all chip in and that makes the pot. If we have enough of an interested crowd then it should make up for a pretty decent pot with a small-ish individual fee. Also, having people pay up quite before the time of the tourney would do well to curb the amount of no-shows which typically plagues online tourneys. I think the issue with the ranbats is that it seems almost intimidating with all the ranks it has and stuff. People can see it as a time investment or as something more than a single tourney so they may be driven off while if they just tried it they may end up liking it and stuff. I think for the beginning just a normal style tournament would be best.
  14. As far as the mics go, I don't own one and I find talking as something distracting during a match. Furthermore, having been in a number of rooms where other people used mics, nothing of value or meaning was being said during the majority of those times. If anything, there has been more instances where I've been witness to misinformation so gruesome that I had to PM a stranger to correct his facts compared to the instances where there was something actually correct and useful being talked about. Mics are cool if you have buddies to play online with but, well, I prefer to play offline with my buddies and in any case, buddies chatting about their classes or what they'll have for lunch doesn't help BB become more widespread online. Skype is indeed useful. Someone said that it lags you up or something...I have not witnessed any effect stemming from it. Maybe if you do like a video chat or something where it has to stream but mere text has no noticeable effect on delay. Reading the OP, I don't think there's any issue of people thinking BB is a stupid game or any sort of self-hatred, there's just lots of people who sadly don't pick it as their best game because it's about the newest IP out there. Even though persona is technically newer as a fighter, the actual franchise started in 1996. The rest of the stuff on Evo are like tekken and SF and KoF, series which have been out for ages and have amassed a huge fanbase. It's kinda natural for BB to not be quite as popular as those games in the grand scheme of things. Lastly, for something productive to add, about all I can think of is we should hype the fuck out of CP. We should make tons of stuff to grab people's attention over and to rekindle the flame of the ones who ended up dropping BB but might wanna reenter it, that's our big and possibly only chance to really do a number on the popularity of BB for the next few years I think.
  15. I think he was looking for the air reset with it but it was too low or too soon or something. It's definitely something that needs exploration, it's hardly been used for either combos or resets. I think I'd only seen it used once in some FRKZ combo but nothing else.
  16. The game is just saved to your hard drive, you can DL a game on the JP psn and still play it on the USA psn too. They're not locked.
  17. I'm not talking of 3C meaty, I'm talking of confirming a 3C counter with 3C rather than with a proper combo, I don't really use Haku much but even I know to 2B>5A>J2A>airdash>JB>J2A>JC off of a 3C counter and it didn't even take practicing to be able to do it, someone just did it to me once so I remembered next time I played and that was that lol. On the matter of 3C meaty though, why not just do 2B? It's also a low, it's faster and you can actually confirm a combo off of it with magatama or just link back into 2A 2A and then go for resets with like 6B or 3C.
  18. PSN is PSN, it's not tied to this specific game, it's settings are general settings people customize in their ps3's system options. Those people are just ones who have set their language as Japanese, likely some of them are in Japan but you have no way of knowing and anyone can set their language to Japanese. About all you can really "know" from that is that they can input Japanese characters on their ps3.
  19. What bugs me is less of the character and more the mentality of some of the players who choose to use him. They just never seem to step up the game and keep doing 3C after a 3C counter, their biggest combo is basically random poke into zantetsu or into a bunch of 214As back to back if you're airborn and their way of making sure their Ds don't get punished is to mash more Ds after them and pray to the lag gods that the punish is late due to online play stuff. It's just as lazy as it gets and yet it seems to be more effective than the comparably lazy playstyles of other chars. The character is alright but some of his users play him in an annoyingly effective for the seeming lack of effort way, which is frustrating to face and even when you beat it you feel like it was too much trouble to deal with for how dumb and thoughtless it was. But yeah, like I said a while back, just grab em a lot, these types usually tend to fumble from grabs or mash them themselves and get countered by stuff which beats grabs into major damage.
  20. Lol, watching on in that vid, they refer to Noel's command grab as "shiawase nage" or "happiness grab"...those smart Japanese people. XD
  21. GGs to sasugapsyken earlier. Sorry I just stopped there, my attention was demanded elsewhere. I wish we'd get to play more cause those were some epic games but there's always next time! XD I was glad to see I understood the Dizzy matchup a bit more now, gotta respect the biteheads and her throw range is absurd...but she dies fast XD. Yours was literally the first proper one I ever fought.
  22. Hey there, we had a few Slayer mirrors the other day. Was quite fun. :D Yeah they were lol. Slayer is my new sub, I picked him up about 2 weeks ago, I'm happy with the results so far. XD My main's O-Sol, there's some matchups with him where I just have trouble getting started while some other ones are like that with Slayer. Millia I guess worked in Slayer's favor if he actually managed to get a hit in cause...yeah...half your life goes poof XD. I did wish I had a DP at times though. Playing a char without a DP on GG will teach you a whole new level of blocking.
  23. Oh, hey there Specialedworld! We played a bunch of games a few days ago. Was that O-Sol/Slayer.
  24. The Hakumen matchup is just more heavily throw-based for a lot of the more rushdown chars. You just need to throw the Ds and make him try and break throws but instead do other things and punish his whiffed throws with moves like Jin's 6B that are not throwable. If they mash D it's the easiest thing in the game to beat, just throw over and over till they stop or die lol.
  25. Right, this situation was me basically not knowing the matchup and adjusting to stuff which...is basically really good and effective. I had quite a few answers for these things but mine were situational while his was organized and consistent so he'd get his stuff much more than I got mine. Still though we both were a danger to one-another and each game win or lose felt like something which left you a tad bit better than you were before. :P
