  1. Anyone here familiar with kokiga (コキガ)? It's basically a repeated 13 input that basically abuses the game's instant guard system (aka stylish move) that lets you instant guard any attack as long as you have guard meter (you can even cancel your taunt into kokiga!). Currently the only way to deal with this is via throw/command throw. I'll try to find some videos later and edit this post to include them. EDIT: Couldn't find any tutorial-ish videos, but found some netplay videos of a Kawajiri player using kokiga. Notice the amount of crouch guarding and the frequency of instant guards. http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm21725500
  2. GGs to Mr. Biscuits! I thought I started out pretty good, but I ended up losing about 10 straight haha. I feel like I learned some stuff about the Teddie matchup though and did a little better near the end. Again, thanks for the games!
  3. Will be flying in from Japan the night before, but I'm planning on showing up! Looking forward to this!
  4. Sketched this up real quick a few days ago.
  5. Shoutouts to everyone I played against, and also my awesome teammates Sodelic and monz! I didn't do too hot myself, but it was a really fun experience. Looking forward to playing you guys in the future!
  6. BGs to qunqun24 for ragequitting our rank up/rank down match. It was yukiko vs akihiko too, you have no one to blame but yourself if you're losing that matchup.
  7. Thanks Khan, unfortunately I can't make it out this Friday. I hope you guys have fun and maybe I can come some other time!
  8. Had a great time tonight. Met LK, Khanh and a bunch of other guys. My bracket was intense and I'm tired as hell but it was worth it!
  9. So I'm most likely gonna be going to Big Two tomorrow (or technically today I guess). Will anyone from Dustloop be showing up?
  10. Looking to improve my Akihiko game. Can anyone help me out by running sets with me? Going to bed. Shoutouts to all the guys on the East Coast lobby and LastStarSavior, all who bodied me pretty hard but still some good games overall!
  11. Can anyone tell me what time they'll be playing P4U at Big Two? I'm planning on dropping by sometime soon.
  12. The way I see Akihiko is he has very pronounced strengths and weaknesses. He has a great guessing game at close range and great damage output when he can get in, but also gets zoned out easily by characters like Liz, Yukiko and Teddie. Even his strength at close range is used to his disadvantage against Kanji. Another thing about Akihiko is there are no real guaranteed ways to get in, despite this being a vital part of his game plan. And once you do get in you have to make sure you keep your opponent guessing. I feel like playing Akihiko takes a lot of adapting and ad-libbing. His cyclone system gives you a lot of options, and it may seem overwhelming at first but learning how to use all of his moves is one of the keys to success. There are times when knowing how to do things like d weave after kill rush > hook to bait the DP and weave > SB cork from across the screen can steal you games. The way I see it Akihiko's versatility is a double-edged sword: he has no moves that are good in most situations (like mitsuru's 5a), but it also gives him the opportunity to win games just by keeping your opponents guessing. And you can always do funny stuff like DP>mahaziodyne>IK. To make this long post relevant to ongoing discussion, I think Akihiko is a stron character, but he requires a lot of out thinking your opponent, which is probably why Kubo is so good with him.
  13. http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm18728082 Video uploaded a few days ago detailing Akihiko combos. Nothing new it seems, just stuff from the Japanese wiki and BBS threads. Combos are sorted by the starting move: 5a start:#00:00 5B start:#03:19 2B start:#04:10 A Kill Rush start:#05:27 Throw start:#05:54 SB Ducking start:#06:35 AoA start:#07:09 Corkscrew start:#07:57 5B(fc) start:#09:48 Lv3SBHook(fc) start:#14:11
  14. GGs to everyone I played on ranked/player matches today!
  15. Got my PS3 set up and running sets with Cirno. You can find me at psn: tsubame41.
  16. I was about to crosspost my location test notes but it looks like someone has beaten me to the punch. Thanks Circuitous!
  17. So after about a 2 hour wait I got to play a match of Blazblue: Chrono Phantasma. I took notes while watching prior matches and playing the game itself. Platinum: Counter activates on mid and low attacks. On successful counter Platinum flies into the air and floats on her Swallow Moon bubble. Swallow Moon can only be activated once in the air. Dream Sally bubbles travel faster than in EX. Amane: Has a special drill level meter that increases on successful hits of his drill moves (which I assume are his D moves), and it decreases slowly over time. The meter increases if the moves are blocked as well. Overdrive fills his drill meter rapidly. Thought I saw it give his normal moves level-increasing properties, but I'm most likely mistaken. Want some confirmation on this. His run animation is... fabulous. He sparkles when he dashes and jumps as well. Bullet: Her heat level is indicated by an aura surrounding her, with different colors corresponding to each level somewhat like Akihiko's cyclone meter. I think it went something like orange -> red -> red+red overlay Lock-on creates a circle around her, and opponents inside the circle are "locked on" with a special crosshair. As her heat level increases the circle seemed to deploy faster and have a larger radius around Bullet. The lock-on circle grew larger over time, so I'm assuming its radius can be increased by holding down the button for it. Her heat level increases through either a certain move or landing a certain combo. Can't say for sure since I didn't get a chance to play as her. If anything sounds weird or contradicts what was said on the jbbs, feel free to let me know. Also, tell me if the wording's a bit weird so I can clear things up to the best of my ability. The location test thread already has a lot of extensive information on it. Hope this is still useful for anyone though.
  18. According to a guy on the bbs Litchi's new 421C is "just like Jam's Hyappo Shinshou." Don't know exactly what that entails so I'm gonna take his word for it and assume it's a move very similar to Hyappo. I'll try to confirm this. From what I've gathered from the bbs, Amane's gauge goes up to level three and it diminishes over time. One poster said he's a gauge character that's somewhat different from Tsubaki. Dunno if that means he can charge his gauge (ie Tsubaki/Order Sol) like her or if he gains levels through other means.
  19. I just noticed looking at the pdf, but I hope they didn't get rid of B style for technical type. Also they spelt defense wrong where they explain Overdrives and Barrier Bursts, haha. I'm planning to play Bullet so I'll keep an eye out for this. Really interested to see how her gameplay is - apparently she's a grappler?
  20. I'm planning to go to the location test on Saturday. I'm planning on trying out Bullet and Platinum (as per request by Cirno). If anyone has anything they want checked out I'll try my best to test it out. Hopefully I'll be able to take some videos via smartphone, though I don't know how that'll work out. So far no gameplay videos up on Youtube or Niconico. I'll keep my eye out though. According to したらば/shitaraba bbs taking photos/videos at the location test are prohibited. Shucks. Some notes from the したらば bbs (forgive me if it's already been mentioned earlier in the thread): - "same attack combo" shows up as a system message (similar to "counter"). Not sure if this is a new system or just a visual aid for an already existing IPS or scaling system. - Hakumen's OD allows him to cancel his D counter moves into his specials. Does this mean he can't do it in his normal state? - Carl cannot move Nirvana during his burst anymore. source: http://jbbs.livedoor.jp/bbs/read.cgi/game/45148/1344161001 Forgive me if anything sounds wrong, I've been out of the Blazblue loop for so long that I'm really fuzzy on system mechanics and character specifics. Honestly I didn't think I'd ever get back into Blazblue, but I guess this is a better opportunity than any. I actually played some matches at the local arcade for the first time in about half a year.
  21. I find DP to be effective when you're stuck in a corner or when you find a good gap in your opponent's blockstrings. Instant blocking helps a bunch obviously because of the reduced blockstun. Some questions of my own: Any fellow Akihiko players have advice for matches against Kanji? I seem to do pretty badly against him, probably because Akihiko needs to be in close range in order to deal damage, which is right where Kanji wants him. Some advice for fighting Labrys would be nice as well. Also, has anyone played around with tiger-knee'ing Assault Dive? I can't really think of any practical uses for it off the top of my head, since it doesn't seem fast enough to be an effective overhead.
  22. I'm planning to drop by Next Level every now and then during the school year since I'll be dorming at a nearby university. Does Next Level have any P4U setups, and are they cabinets or console setups?
