  1. I've already got the tracks, but I wanted to make sure other people would have access to them when I get around to posting the translations to go with them. Thanks for the links - though I'll probably still upload copies to RapidShare or somewhere similar when I get around to it, since I know a lot of people have issues with places they have to sign up for or trouble getting some of those kinds of web services to work. Thanks for the offer, but I'll probably just upload them to the same place I've been hosting the manga translations - easier for me to manage them if I can upload and edit things from my own end as I go.
  2. Are there still current links for those around anywhere? The first page of the thread only links to a torrent and a couple of dead links now (doesn't look to have been updated in a while). I just got started translating the first few NoK tracks recently, and if there weren't any current downloads for the mp3's around, I was going to reupload my own copies somewhere once I get the scripts neatened up enough to post.
  3. Fixed that for you. =P Sol does indeed look hot there though. *g*
  4. Wow, you're not kidding. There was a balance update that came out just yesterday, but I can't see any obvious mention of Gear-Sol in the file for it - or the update before (but maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places or something). Sol has had a version of his Dragon Install since the start, for the record - it's one of the abilities you have to buy with mana, but I'm pretty sure it didn't do THAT last time I saw it. @Akselziys: Thanks for the scan - looks like they had the best part hidden on the back. (Sol's the only one there who's anatomy doesn't scare me. >.>)
  5. Most of that's already up at the Japanese Wiki - move lists, Servants, moves used *by* the Servants - the works. Let me know if you have any trouble navigating and I can point you to the right sections. They've got a decent chunk of voice data on this page too and they've gradually been updating it, though it's a long way from complete.
  6. Have you got a source for the ten year figure? I know a lot of people were saying 'nine years' when the first scan appeared, but that was due to people misinterpretting a line that said "Nine years after the original Guilty Gear was released for the playstation," referring to the gap between 1998 when GG1 came out and 2007 when GG2 came out. The official site only says GG2 is set "several years after GG1" as far as I can see. The Japanese wiki I've been getting most of my info from did say it's officially 5 years after GG1, which is the figure I've been working with, though I'm not actually sure where they got their number from either. To fatewalker: No-one's said GG2 happens when GGX happened in the usual timeline, that's just supposed to be when the two timelines split off in different directions. Whatever the detail, it's definitely several years later on.
  7. XD I'd declare you deserve to win the thread just for the gameplay one, but I might be biased. >.>
  8. There sure must be plenty of questions fandom would want to ask him around now. >< But it'd be the same as the others - even the Japanese fans wouldn't necessarily listen to every interview, so it's a pretty sloppy way of getting the info out there. Which is why they really need to make this stuff clearer in the actual damn game if we're supposed to know about it at all. Had a listen through the inteviews myself. Ishiwatari talks really fast and quietly, and my Japanese is nowhere near up to following it all, but I think I heard him say the GG2 series 'becomes a parallel world from around GGX onwards' at about 1:30 into the first one. If I'm right, that'd fit with my working theory that the female Gear in Overture either wasn't the Dizzy we know, or the circumstances around her being found were different enough to make the thing with her and Ky plausible. Probably not safe to quote me on this though. @CABINET SMASHER No, Solaria doesn't wear a ribbon, nor does she match anything else we know about our mystery Gear-girl from Overture (in short, she has much the same backstory as Dizzy up to the point where she and Ky run off to make babies together, though she doesn't look particularly like Dizzy from the few glimpses we've seen). Honestly, I'm pretty sure canon has forgotten about her whole existance since the end of the novel
  9. Here's an exact quote from E. Chang's LJ when he was asked about the non-canon thing: Q: I know they're considered gaidens, but did he really say they were non-canon? A: By context, yes. He was addressing why there are so many discontinuities between the X series and GG1. So he said GG Overture is the 'true sequel' to GG1, and basically since there are so many inconsistencies between 1/2 and X/XX, that X/XX aren't part of the 'real' storyline. To be fairer, I'd call GGX and GG2 alternate universes much like the ones from the Side Red/Side Black drama CDs - so both as 'real' a version of canon as you want, but separate from each other. If anyone else wants a listen through the interviews he was talking about to double check, he links them here: http://skuldnoshinpu.livejournal.com/587064.html Strangely, I'm pretty sure I haven't seen the same thing addressed in any of the Japanese FAQs about Overture I've seen, so it doesn't seem to be common knowledge. Speaking of which, has everyone seen the Japanese Overture wiki? It doesn't cover a lot of plot stuff, but there's battle quotes, links to vids and tons of other info.
  10. @Biologin I'm pretty sure That Man was still referred to as having three servants (ie, likely including I-no even if she doesn't appear), but his goals don't actually seem to be as closely related to the Overture plot as we might've expected, so it's not unreasonable she just wouldn't have shown up. I think there was some hint that Aria was Justice - maybe her original human name? I'd have to go back through theria's scripts and notes to check for certain. I'm pretty sure she's not connected to Solaria at all, anyway. @Blade theria had some better suggestions for how to translate Sin's mother's title than my try of 'shadowed one', I think she suggested 'Lady of the Bower' and some other versions. Anyway, something relating to the forest would be more accurate. @theria or anyone interested in the Night of Knives CDs I managed to track down a complete Japanese script for the CDs if it's any use to anyone. We were planning to have a go at translating them once we're done with the manga, but considering the manga translation's not exactly rocketing along, I wouldn't count on us getting to it too soon.
  11. Well, it's obvious something like GGX happened, it's just not clear whether the Gear with the bounty on her head was Dizzy or someone vaguely resembling her. But Sol and Ky are on much the same terms in GGXX as in GG, so there's nothing from the X series that would explain that side of things. It'd be a whole lot less messy if everything from GGX onwards diverges. Like you said though, we're just gonna have to wait until they give us more information.
  12. Ah, thanks, that clears up quite a bit. Though it does seem like he's just saying that GG2 isn't meant to fit into the GGX timeline (so, maybe that *does* mean there's officially no Dizzy in GG2?) and that he considers GG2 the 'official' version. Fortunately there's nothing to say we have to interpret that stuff the same way the director does. =P Still not seeing how GG2 connects to events from GG1 itself though. I don't *think* the tournament was mentioned anywhere, which only leaves us two common characters, and am I the only one noticing something a bit strange here? In Guilty Gear: Sol weilds the Fuuenken and mostly finds Ky an annoyance. Ky still holds a huge grudge against him for abandonning the Order, is obsessed with beating him and will pretty much attack him on sight. In Overture: The Fuuenken is nowhere to be seen. Sol and Ky have settled their differences to the point that Ky's happy to call Sol in for favours and entrust him with raising his infant son. He's also clearly aware that Sol's a Gear and all the rest of his history. Can't help but feel they must've skipped an important event or two somewhere between the games.
  13. Ah, right. Chipp's one of my favourite characters, so I'd probably have gotten more value out of it. Quick question if you don't mind (since I'm probably not going to get the chance to go through the scripts in detail today) - I got the impression somewhere along the story that the founding of Illyuria had something to do with protecting whoever-she-actually-is. Am I on the right track here or am I just mistranslating something? Also, would you mind if I reposted the scripts elsewhere? I know a lot of non-Dustloop members would be interested in them.
  14. But the rest of those Gaidens were all much smaller stories and were labelled 'Gaiden' from the start. Declaring 90% of the known GG story retroactively a Gaiden - based on something apparently mentioned in passing in an interview from years ago - seems a bit silly. I'd heard Overture was set about 4 years after GGXX. While you probably *could* stretch the story enough for that to be time for them to wrap up all the PWAB stuff from GGXX and for Ky and Dizzy to hook up out of the blue, leave the Jellyfish Pirates and the police, found a new country, concieve Sin and still leave him a few years to grow up, it would be a much neater explanatino for GG2 to be set in an alternate timeline. Really, the part that irritates me the most is how vague it is. We can discuss it all we like, but we're not going to figure it out because they just haven't told us one way or the other. Makes it very hard to guess where they might be going with everything from here on.
  15. Wait, so fandom's been going all 'WAAAH they said GGX doesn't count anymore!!11!' because somewhere in an interview from years ago, the director implied he was personally looking forward to telling a different story in the GG world than the one he was working on at the time? Come on, people! Overture does look like an interesting side story, but it makes a whole lot more sense if it's basically separate from... well, almost everything we've ever seen from the first GG onwards. They may well introduce more familiar characters to later installments, but I think theria's right that they wouldn't be relevant to the main plot GG2 was tackling. There'd be way too much to cover if they tried to pull them all in. @theria: Where have you been hiding until now? XD Thanks for all these translations you've been posting, they've cleared up a *lot* of stuff I was stuck on. (Chipp's novel really that bad though? It sounded really interesting from the few brief summaries I ever found of it.)
