  1. I mean, the whole attitude you were describing is one of my pet-peeves, so I think we're all proper and cool here. Reppin' mah peevies hard up here in Threadsville. Fo' realsies.
  2. It's important to recognize where and how you went wrong, 'cause that's how you get better. Owning up to your mistakes and all that. It's good. "I lost because I dun goofed," isn't really owning up to your mistakes, though. That's using them as an excuse, and serves no real purpose other than to diminish the other guy's victory. Yeah, you could've done better. But today, you lost. Own it up, congratulate your opponent, and do better next time. It's more fun for everyone that way. Or do what I do. "Welp, I lost. Guess I should probably practice up? ...Nah, winning's for chumps."

  4. Am I the only one who thinks Chipp's face is a little off? Maybe it's just that the eye-liner is a tad more pronounced...
  5. You're speakin' my language, right there. I agree with your post wholeheartedly. Despite (or perhaps even because of) all this measured madness, I feel GG/BB have the most developed characters in the genre. While it may not have anything to do with the gameplay per se, fighting against a fleshed-out backdrop with all these interweaving character ties is something that enhances my enjoyment of the whole thing immensely. That's probably enough gushing, but hey. Can't help myself. I still can't get over that Guilty Gear's a relevant thing to talk about again, heh.
  6. That it, that's the main story. You can summarize anything like that. BlazBlue: But of course, in both cases we've got more going on, and a whole slew of other characters doing weird things. I've always considered the inscrutable aspects of BB's story to be entirely similar to GG's. Hell, I've thought Guilty Gear was up its own ass before BlazBlue even knew where to look. Both of them tend to raise more questions than answers at every beat, and prefer to tease/imply things rather than giving you answers. The most major difference in execution that I can think of is that BlazBlue exposes you to it all at once, while it's more piecemeal in Guilty Gear. Not really sure what's worse, actually, haha. Not exactly knocking either one, here, 'cause obviously I'm a fan of both. All I know is... I want me some Guilty Gear story, and more of it, told in as coherent of a fashion as possible. BB-style is kinda the natural progression of what they've already been doing, but I'm up for any approach they'll take.
  7. That's why "simple yet impenetrable" is what I tend to use as a descriptor. The story doesn't do anything particularly high-concept or complicated, but it's a disjointed mess. It's not difficult for me to follow, as someone who's deep into the series and obsessively claws through every character's story branches. But it's easy to recognize how people who aren't completely crazy like me would get lost in all the vagueries and random nonsense. Like, I can't imagine anything in Accent Core making any sense to someone who hasn't played the series before. Not that I want it to get hand-holdy or anything. But I'd be way into seeing a concise, BlazBlue-like telling of a story in the GG universe.
  8. The story in GG is both simple and damn impenetrable, even for the folks paying attention. I hope they take this opportunity to restructure it into a more linear, approachable plot. Though, I'll take what I can get. As for characters, I can really only imagine Order-Sol, Justice, Kliff, and maaaaaybe Robo-Ky and A.B.A. getting cut, just because of their relatively short lives in the series. Everyone else seems so core at this point that it would seem wrong for them to be missing. And I guess Ishiwatari agrees. Limited resources are definitely a thing, though.

  13. Sounds like they're working on it. In the meantime, I'm having a blast reacquainting myself with this game against the CPU. Venom's AI is kind of a bitch, haha. This is my chance to play all of A-Core's story. Never had the opportunity before.
  14. I'm so happy that this is a thing. I like that they're playing around with this profile stuff now. Folks call it pointless, but... hey, video games. Just another fun thing to have around.
  15. For all eternity, as intended. The only correct answer. Am I remembering right that there was an option to not use Daisuke as the in-game Sol? The worst possible option...!! Not that I dislike Jouji Nakata. He's probably among my favorite voices around.
  16. That'd be fun. I suppose ol' Jouji would be doing Sol's voice. Would love it if Daisuke did some story reads sometime though, heh.
  17. Unless I misunderstood the initial announcement, I think the idea was that this version of AC+ will eventually be patched up to +R.

  19. Especially in fighting games, story's always gonna take a backseat to gameplay. Characters can't just go away, 'cause that'd suck for players, but unfortunately that means your story is stuck with a bunch of unkillable/perpetually resurrecting characters. BlazBlue has been the best (by far) in the genre about making this ride enjoyable though, also zany and nonsensical as heck. Whether they stumble over themselves now or again doesn't really bother me, as long as it's entertaining. EDIT: Whoops, missed a page. Ah well. So how 'bout them Astrals, huh?

  21. That is too bad. Here we are, even able to mix and match the colors as we please... but savagely denied at the pass! Well, I guess you can always try to get away with it at a local tournament...!
  22. So, does anyone know why the Shadow/Gold colors aren't usable online? I got the color pack for the "cameos" anyway, but I thought that was a little weird.
  23. Akihiko VS Chie is one of the most fun matchups for me. Two characters who don't really want to get anywhere close to the other, but they have to, because that's what they do. Heh. It so often becomes a tale of "CHIE BEATS ME TO NEAR-DEATH," then "I BEAT CHIE TO NEAR-DEATH," and then dance around until someone can get that last hit in. It's strangely entertaining. The Persona definitely gives him some edge here, though. His D Persona seems to be extremely useful for messing up Chie's timing when she tries to close the distance. It's caused a lot of whiffs for players who otherwise seem to have their stuff down. The mere existence of the C Persona is vital since it gives him some intimidating range superiority, though you're not going to be using it for much besides punishment/combos unless the Chie is just careless. That's awfully general, but whatever. Just know that this is the MANLIEST MATCHUP OF THEM ALL. YES INDEED.

  25. It'll be fine. I think the reason that Nu/Lambda is absent right now is because her latest iteration will involve some significant story development -- so they're gonna save that reveal for later. Or not. Nyak nyak. But best to save any rage for closer to release. I feel like we've already learned an amazing amount about CP considering it was only announced... what, last week?
