  1. Smash Bros Melee is pretty famous for having just a small handful of top-tier characters that are always picked in high-level play, though, isn't it? GG always seems to have a much larger spread of who is picked.
  2. Precisely. If some character was able to annihilate Eddie and Testament with ease every fight, people will simply stop picking Eddie and Testament and be able to wipe the floor with whoever the new "top-tier" character was. GG isn't like many other games where the grand majority of competitive players all go for the couple of top-tier characters, so choosing a character on the basis that they're very good against one or two other character is just plain silly.
  3. Question about Pot's j.D - is Greed Sever an option to counter it with (assuming there's enough time to hit it)? It seems like it'd be a good chance to smack him in the air and get a decent air combo going.
  4. It's been mentioned a couple of times according to the Search, but a Wiki would be a great idea. Rather than spammy threads popping up just to ask about a certain piece of frame data or tier lists for current/older games, a (well-maintained) Wiki would be a very easy to be able to find complete commands lists and all that hoo-hah instantly.
  5. Oh, of course actual experience is better than anything else, but it's quite hard to visualise how a combo should work when it's a bunch of numbers and letters on a screen, whereas seeing someone actually do it makes it all click. It may not be the best way of learning things, but it certainly helps whenever I badly need to pass the time at work.
  6. I dunno, when I started watching match videos, I went pretty quickly from total-sucky-scrub to not-quite-as-sucky-but-still-scrubbing, so they're very helpful to be able to find quickly.
  7. Invincible bug? It seems that I may have missed a very important post elsewhere!
  8. They don't suck that bad, do they? There's a move list, some handy combos, and a videos thread. What more do you really need?
  9. For those that don't have Japanese text display or whatever, the name's Han'oto. Dunno if that helps.
  10. So is it just a time unlock in the end? Downloaded a savegame from gamefaqs with all the EX/Gold/Black etc stuff unlocked, but there were only 2 Slash stages available.
  11. So, there's a player in my area who's getting good with Axl and it's getting quite tough to fight against him. What's the best way to use Ky when fighting Axl, other running away and spamming Stun Edges?
  12. Can anyone tell me if Ulead Video Studio 7 SE is any good, and if it works properly on Vista? It seems to be quite cheap, and I don't need to do anything particularly advanced. Windows Movie maker is just dreadful. The output quality drops a ton whenever you resize the video to be quite small, and I'd rather output in DivX avi rather than wmv.
  13. There's a save out now? Huzzah, downloadin' time!
  14. There has to be a thread somewhere for modding all these Tekken sticks to put GG artwork on them. Oh, and a word of warning to anyone thinking of buying a filthy cheap stick to start on. Don't get the Logic3 one that plugs into PS2, Xbox, and PC. When my friend was using it, the stick lifted out of the pad itself within 2 minutes.
  15. In a couple of weeks, I'll have a mini-Tekken-5 Hori stick that I'm buying off a buddy, so I'll be joining the "Oh god where are my hands what button do I press I'm not good with this aaahh!! :gonk:" crew.

    hidden moves in ac

On the note of Ky's hidden 222H - I got 5 rounds (seperately) on one specific person at my local gaming club in one night using it. It's easily Ky's flashiest way to win, and I cheered every time.
  17. I was close enough, only mixed up punch and kick. Thanks!
  18. I'm going to be picking up an arcade stick off a buddy soon, so I can start practising on that in a month or two. However, what's the layout of the GG arcade buttons? Judging by the PS2 pad, my instincts would say: P S D K H But I think GG controls are "n" shaped or something, and for some reason I think it might go: P S H K D I'd like to play as close to a proper arcade setup as possible, so I'd need the right button config for that.
  19. Ah, fair enough - as long as there's a reason.
  20. Was there any reason for not letting you use S+H for Faultless Defense? Those are the buttons I use, and I think all my buddies do the same. It seems weird to ban usage of just those for it.
  21. Katakana isn't too hard to learn, and most of the moves are written in it anyway. Since the majority of the attacks are in English, and just written in Katakana, you can still decipher the move names by reading the sounds out loud so it sounds ilke broken English. Suta-n Eji = Stun Edge Guri-do Se-ba = Greed Sever erc.
  22. Someone could always just start a Guilty Gear Wiki that could be instantly updated whenever any kind folk finds new information.
  23. Not having access to AC, I can't check for myself (plus I still suck at VT inputs anyway:kitty: ), but can you continue that combo on with the H after VT loop (I forget the name the move with wallbounce after a VT) that I've seen a lot online? If you can, is the damage scaled down so much by then that it's not really work your while doing so?
