  1. Ahh yes, I actually found out about this not long after picking up Akihiko, it seems rather useful, but the major downside of short hop canceling is the fact that 1. You cannot block while short hopping. And it doesn't help that you actually can't even do j.b until the peak of the hop. And 2. There's always the landing recovery, which you can cancel out of, but you're still gonna be able to be hit out of vertually any move you cancel into aside from DP. Basically what I'm sayin is short hoppin losses hard to mashers, and people (including top players) love to mash in this game ESPECIALLY against akihiko pressure. It is nice for baiting throws on occasion though especially against Kanji it can give him trouble
  2. It's safe. Even if they block and you forward dash, just be ready to tech a throw. Otherwise probably only command grabs could punish you. And even if you backdash your 2C and you get a counterhit, to can still follow up with kill rush. And yeah iw2ma, I peeped that setup not too long ago from Kubo, seems to be pretty freakin good off lvl3 corkscrew unless you just wanna super for damage.
  3. Another good midscreen FC combo I seen Kubo do is 5b FC > b.KR > duck > b+d > 2b > j.b > 5aaaa > c.Weave > lvl3 a.Corkscrew > sweep Gives good oki, that's the only real advantage. You might be able to do 2 loops of 2b > j.b not sure though
  4. So, off of a long knockdown, is a buffered 66 into 2a also a safe way of pressuring against DP's it's something I noticed Kubota doing a lot, it seems pretty effective since off of corkscrew in the corner, buffered 66 into 2a gets you an invalid reset if they choose not to tech instantly

  10. So I have a few questions for you guys. What are your strategies for dealing with Narukami? I'm having so much trouble escaping his pressure and dealing with him in general? Also any tips against mitsurus? These S Rank Narukamis and Mitsurus just destroy me
  11. Idk if anyone knows this, but if you hold the D button, it will actually delay when Cesar uses the suction move. He will only do it when you let go, and you are free to act while holding down D. It seems letting to of D will cause the suction even if you're in the middle of a move like kill rush. This seems to be very very interesting as far as set ups go. Also idk if it's documented anywhere but Akihikos D actually has a ton of invulnerability in the middle of it. It's only punishable on startup and briefly at the end.
  12. Why do you find short hop useless? Idk of its known, but you can cancel into short hop from boomerang hook, and you can confirm off of a late short hop j.b with cr.a. This seems to make akihiko even scarier from boomerangs hook because it's a total guess for your opponent, they have to either block low sweep, block high short hop, stand in order to tech duck > throw, and of course there's always the threat of EX duck cross up. Also it seems really easy to get counter-hits with boomerang hook cancel to short hop
