This weekend was fantastic! I'm back home now, so it's time for full shout outs:
- Phil, Kyle, Tad, Klein, and all the Guilty Gear oldheads and newbloods that showed up. The Guilty Gear tourney was easily my favorite part of the event; both the casuals and tournaments were crazy hype. May 6P > combo > stun > IK and Phil doing basically unblockable oki with Millia were just two of the many highlights, and I was really happy with how I played and placing 4th in the tourney! I feel I've still got a ways to go on the journey to A.B.A. enlightenment, but this weekend I hiked a few more steps up that mountain. Thanks for the matchup experience and general advice, and watch out for those burst throws ;P Being able to once again play with a few of the top Guilty Gear players who I look up to and respect, and feeling as though I've made them proud, is truly great. Once the game releases, I'm going to strive to ensure my A.B.A. upholds the tradition of handing out dirty south ass whoopings! PARACELSUS HUNGERS FOR BLOOD, ON OCT. 24TH IT SHALL BE SATED! LET'S GO!
- Nashville Blake and Travis for letting Derrell, Huntsville Blake, and I crash at their place. Awesome games in SF4AE2012 and P4A were had, and Limitless is an excellent movie. Reminiscing and cracking FFXI-related jokes with Blake while watching Sword Art Online was too good, and also thanks to Travis for the quality coffee and intellectual late night conversation as well as Alex for the projector-displayed SF4 matches and fine tobacco discussion. Just chilling with you guys was as fun as the tournament, we definitely need to road trip up there and hang more! Maybe then Blake will be old enough to drink, hahaha.
- Derrell and Blake for splitting gas costs and for the great carpool discussions on Guilty Gear, the FGC, rules to live by, and a bunch of other stuff. Bad games to shady Deliverance-style gas station bathrooms and Chevron/Texaco for not existing north of Huntsville, lol.
- Shout outs to my Huntsville bros and broette, glad y'all could make it! Thanks Sara for teaching me the history of Game Galaxy!
- GGs to the P4A crowd! Being an Alabama spy for the 5v5 was fun, and the casuals I had with Star (Mitsuru/Labrys chess matches were so tense!), Boomcube (fucking Caesar!), Tad, and others were great too. You guys made me realize P4A matches CAN be fun and have inspired me to take the game more seriously. Shout outs to Urichinan for having a ridiculous Shadow Labrys and Ivysaur for being a T-1000.
- Milln for organizing the spontaneous GGAC tourney. Without your help, we would have been limited to casuals; thanks for running the brackets!
- Whoever brought the stream/recording equipment. Not sure whose gear it was, but thanks for helping the southeast share our scene! Also, thanks to the stream commentators! Sorry for not letting you in on the Labrys/Shadow Labrys joke beforehand, we thought it would be funnier if we put you on the spot, lol.
- Lastly, many thanks and much respect to Jason and Game Galaxy Arcade for hosting. The entire event was better than I had anticipated, even though I went in with high expectations to begin with! Your collection is godly, thanks for keeping the arcade dream alive for us enthusiasts! I look forward to supporting your future events!
I'll be uploading pics later tonight or tomorrow. GGs everyone! Next stop: Birmingham's monthly!
