As far as I know, Carl combos all tend to end in j.C or 3C. 3C allows for a follow-up Fermata or ODC > 3C > 632146]D[. From time to time, you'll see a Carl use j.214C to cornerbounce an opponent, but this is strictly for when Nirvana is dead. The point is: Carl has plenty of ways to launch the opponent (623C, 4]D[, 63214]D[ > CT, fully charged 6C, etc...) followed by knockdown with oki setup (3]D[, Fuoco, Volante). This is the preferred gameplan. Multiple j.A's are used to create unblockable resets. Is that what happened in the video? -

Fun fact: Carl 2C completely whiffs on crawling Taos. Her crawl also goes under a bunch of other stuff too ( 6]D[, Brio, Volante, ...); just thought 2C was pretty random.

Regarding her Justice Phorizer (aka reversal super): -If you're going to Vivace it, use the B version. It is not a projectile. -IB greatly negates the pushback. At closer ranges, it'll allow you to get in a CH 6B. -In Gain Mode and two stocks, she can immediately teleport behind you (214D) on hit, block, or whiff.

Judging by the character forums, glad to see Carl is still everyone's least-played character. Hey, new(er) players! We know you have questions; don't be afraid to ask. With that in mind: Opponent backrolls into 3]D[ leaving them floored in a C-N-O situation, too far for a CT follow-up. What should I be thinking/doing at this point? I tend to go 6B > 6A > j.B > j.B > j.C oki setup. Let's say this happens a lot in netplay and not so much against good players. -

My jump-happy tendency got blown up by his 2C (FC). "Finest" moments: ~27:57-28:35... Beautiful display of 22]D['s. ~31:25... 1.1K punish. Really, I like sitting on 100 meter. >_> ~34:14... Got trolled pretty hard by a Platinum today. Had no clue how to deal with her new item, the presents. Since her Wiki doesn't say much about it, I wanted to point out: - Normal version has two stocks. Upgraded version has four. - A maximum of two of either version can be placed at any time. If a third one is placed, the first one will disappear. - Cannot be air guarded normally. Use barrier. - Normal versions stays onscreen for ~13 seconds. Upgraded versions stays onscreen for ~16 seconds. - Normal versions go away when Platinum gets hit. Upgraded versions *DO NOT* go away when she gets hit. That last point makes it annoying for Carl to keep his momentum. Even when she's getting hit, you might have to drop the combo because a present is nearby. Movement options also become greatly reduced. As Psykotik mentioned, you can Vivace through them. Another option is to use a well-timed s.j. into airdash to get past either version. His hop should generally be avoided whenever they're onscreen (Personal experience lol). As for Nirvana, her sprite does not trigger the presents. On the flip side, they don't damage her either. <--I was wrong. Watch out for that too. Hope this saves others some time.

Thank you for the videos. It definitely shows that a lot of work was put into it. I can't wait for the rest of them. I do have a question though. If the series are geared (HAH, get it?) towards GG newbies, why did you start the series off with Eddie and Venom? I know GG has a lot of really cool characters that are nice to showcase, but aren't those two a little beginner-unfriendly? I would feel kind of bad luring in new players with episode 1's Eddie and then telling them "no, start with Sol/Ky" instead. Yes, he's complex and rewarding, but for a newb, I feel like it's more important for them to be able to compete/do cool stuff right away lest they get turned off by the game's complexities. With 25 characters, I believe it's possible to find a nice rotation between characters that are easy to pick up, and those that have...character. (Personal note: Characters like Bridget, I-No, Zappa, Johnny, Dizzy, and Eddie are what drew me into GG in the first place.) It would be certainly better than 10 straight videos showing off awesome characters that one, unfortunately, can't play. Then again, perhaps you guys already have thought of this and my concerns are pointless. But if episode 3 features I-No....
