  1. The recommended assists for a character generally means that character has some optimal set-ups with those assists that lead to big damage combos. You still have to figure them out yourself though. I remember in Aquapazza there was an option in training mode that would actually give you a demonstration combo based on the assist you had. You don't need to pick the recommended ones if you don't want to though, and half the fun is finding out which different combinations work with a character. I found a 13k Ethica combo without a recommended assist.
  2. Here's a couple of Ethica combos I made for anyone else planning on slammin' and jammin' with her. Like the descriptions says they both require you to blow all your resources but for 12k damage off of simple starters it's a great way to turn the entire match around even if your opponent has over 50% health. They're not hard to pull off either.
  3. I'm on PS4 and have been playing with people on PS3 and PS4 with no real problems. There seems to be a bug with Player Matches though where you'll be unable to fight the same person twice sometimes regardless of connection quality and the only way to get around it is for someone to re-enter the room or just keep trying until you brute force your way through. Seems to happen randomly.
  4. No one stands out as particularly bad yet, but it's really too early to tell. I mean the game hasn't even been out for a full 24 hours yet so we don't even know where the console characters even fit in yet. I can see everyone being viable just because of how the game is set up though. Having the right assists play a huge part in the game plan and everyone is capable of getting big damage if they have the right set up. Though certain characters like Ethica and Ignis certainly have tons of advantages even without assists. Anyway, from what I've played so far, I'm liking it more than AP and I really enjoyed AP. The whole game just has a really smooth flow to it and a really colorful presentation. It doesn't feel like it does anything particularly new as far as anime fighters go but the base gameplay is solid and the systems are easy to get a hang of while at the same time giving you a lot of variety and options to play around with thanks to finding different assist combinations. It's not complicated but still leagues above something like Dengeki Bunko. If you liked AP and AH3 I'd fully recommend getting it. If you're on the fence I'd wait for the NA version since that will probably save you some money.
  5. I've been on Ranked for the last 3 hours or so fighting against Japanese players and the netcode is still holding up well for me. Even with 1bar connections I'm not getting any huge delay and there was only one time out of like 20 matches where the delay was so bad it was pretty much impossible to land anything. But again I still feel it's much better than AP where even in the best conditions there was still noticeable delay. Again I'm on East Coast and consider my internet to be pretty decent (60mb down 10up) so it may depend on how good your internet is. Also, some random impressions so far. -Game plays a lot faster than videos would lead you to believe. Watching videos I was under impression it would be another slower paced game like AP but fights have a pretty hectic speed to them and there's plenty of options for mobility. -Homura is really popular online and I can see her being a pretty constant character. Good damage,, simple confirms, and combos seem really easy, and she has a lot of "netplay" sheananigans including an attack that teleports her right behind you that can be really tough to deal with in a pinch. -Sonico is really annoying to fight. The cats that follow her move independently and have a delay between their actions, so even if Sonico herself whiffs something and you counter-hit her, one of the cats can still attack you and interrupt your combo and give the advantage back to her. So you have to be really careful when going in. She also has helpers remnant of Mouri from AH3, except on a much more annoying level since the stages are smaller. It's even hard to zone her out because one of her helpers comes from behind you and a counter-hit can lead to a full combo (god help you if she has the right assists) so you can't throw things out without care either. I probably just don't know how to deal with her yet but it's one of those battles where it feels like everything is in her favor.
  6. Pretty decent from what I've played. Played for a couple of hours last night with two friends who were both West Coast while I'm on East Coast. We had 2-3 Bars the whole time and it was still playable. There was some delay as you would expect but not to the point where we were dropping combos or having trouble with inputs. Definitely better than Aquapazza's netcode, but I'd need to play someone closer before I could say if it was on par with AH3's netcode.
  7. Heads up for anyone downloading it from the HK store. If you buy it from the HK store Heart and Homura apparently aren't bundled with it even though they're offered for free if you buy it from JP PSN despite the version on both store being the Japanese version. It appears the bundle bonus only applies if you buy it from the JP store. So if you're interested in getting those two right away be sure to buy from JP PSN. I made the mistake of buying it from HK PSN and now I have to wait until the 17th when Heart and Homura are made available for download separately.
  8. For $12, I'd say it's well worth the price. No netplay at the moment sucks, but everything else about the game is really solid. All the characters feel quite fun, and after trying out the entire roster I'm still not sure who I want to stick with. The flow of matches is smooth and inputs don't feel too strict, making it easy to jump right in. Having it in English is nice even though the translations are kind of funny and awkward sounding. Lots of stages to choose from with cool backgrounds, and the music is great as has been mentioned. So yeah, I hope they hurry up and add netplay soon and don't just forget about this. If it had netplay I would have gladly paid $30 for it.
  9. Yeah. No netplay. I was surprised and disappointed too. Dunno if they plan to patch it in later or something, but as it stands now you might want to wait if you don't have anyone in real life to play with. The game itself plays very smoothly though, and being in English is a plus. Still no netplay will probably be a deal breaker for a lot of people.
  10. It's up on HK PSN $92 HK, which is about $12 USD. Not too expensive at all. Just downloaded it. Game is in FULL ENGLISH by the way. No need to even wait for a US version... However... The game doesn't have netplay.
