[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
Slaythe replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
English text and voices patched in today in JP version. -
Do we have any information regarding the japanese version being region locked or region free ? Edit: I contacted several importers, they all first answered "region free, ps3 games are region free" after insisting and reminding them of the P4U original debacle, they were far more cautious and were like "we recommend waiting until official release before ordering" ...

Didn't give them any trouble not to update GGX for months. It's the same servers but it doesn't send people in the exact same place depending on the version. -
Well lately i have only played my own friends (that are new to GGX, got them hyped with the GGXrd trailer !), before i used to pass through the wing dreams channel or some bb skype chat. Most my random encounters will be at the 4 frame delay. While it's not the best, i wouldn't call it terrible. I mean, after the psn version of ac r i'm sure i would even find 6f delay decent. It's alive in the sense that at the end of the day, quite a decent number of players logged in, but it's not "street fighter" alive obviously, so most people ended up going for 4f and got used to it, because it allowed for broader chances of fighting people.

Not on PS4. And not a single fighter on ps3 has a smooth framerate with no drops ever (not even bbcp), not to mention the netplay. So even though i have also a ps3, the way to go is pc or ps4 for me :/ . Plus the game is easily in the top 3 of best cell shade titles ever made (I will even say the best because the faces are perfect and it has no aliasing, the shadows are controlled and all the animation is using hand drawn key frame as model) so it'd be a shame not to enjoy it with the crisp and smooth graphics, like the arcade version. (If you see how bad the naruto games look compared to the pc version, i don't believe the ps3 version will be anywhere near as good as it should be, hell i'm not even sure ps4 can run it properly) So not on ps4 because they changed the account and psn systems, you can only have "one" real account per ps4. Getting a japanese one would mean losing your real account. But import within 2 or 3 days is always possible if you preorder it from japanese resellers (like nippon yasan). Can't wait to get my hands on it ! I think they really improved the art style too, and the animation is incredible. It's funny how most people weren't convinced at first, and now the polish they gave to the game makes it look like a pure anime. One of the rare times where "oh well they have time to improve" actually was true ! I was scared at first about the gameplay "reboot" but I think it's for the best, as of now. It won't drown newcomers, and since GGX lost many fans along the way because of inconsistent releases, so it will be easy to get back to it. And I guess BB fans won't be overwhelmed too. o/ -

uh, sorry for double post ... Told me it didn't post it ... Delete please. -
It's pretty alive. Mostly for Europe though. Since you know, we get fucked over by Ark so hard. Good thing that ps4 doesn't allow multi accounts, so that we'll get fucked even harder in the future :D . Anyway, lots of people play it since the Xrd announcement.

Oh that sounds awesome ! (that and the online training too !) Thank you.

So let me sum up. 3 normals freeze, 5 specials, unlimited ex ? Is there a way to know the proration (?) of the combos without looking them up ? I usually just know by heart my combos after doing them so much but with CP i'm scared to experiment anything now o// .

Can someone explain to me how that 3C possibly failed at the end ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0I1TCAMx-w&list=PLJ4mIozrjIPY2Cz2pTG9SMvypzGbDKY9f&index=1 (and wasn't the overdrive supposed to freeze on 5C ? He definitely didn't break the 5 freeze limit... unless each Sekkajin move counts as freeze ?!) Don't tell me you can't chain 3C after 5C anymore.

BlazBlue Question Thread - Ask your questions here!
Slaythe replied to KayEff's topic in BlazBlue Gameplay
Well they did say, to quote, "No information concerning a preorder DLC has been given to us". First print is something else entirely. You don't have to preorder to get it. Though, does that mean the digital version gets Terumi for free too ? or is this a disc "bonus" ? -

There is no such thing as preorder DLC. I asked a japanese shop. Both Kagura and Terumi are in the game right away. -

The colours are not DLC , and it will be more than enough for Kokonoe ! On official website they indicate that you can purchase additionnal colours for the characters. Using ingame currency. Don't know why I thought it was a friday. But same thing as Saint seiya then, delivery on monday. -

Well I just ordered saint seiya from them, the issue being the week end of course. Monday is planned for Saint Seiya, Blazblue is released on a friday (a day later) but since it's the sunday that is "killing" the delivery, monday sounds more than likely even for BB. Tuesday for sure. -
er add me, i'm getting CP too. I am in europe, I have minimal lag with americans, canada (only the intro laggs out then it stabilizes perfectly) as long as they have good connections. Japan is "playable" but a bit laggy, only for non serious matches. Lag free with all europe. skype : strayne

I'm in Europe. My game cost me 45 euros. (nippon yasan) 10 euros shipping because I took the 2 days delivery. If I want to get the digital version, I have to buy a 5000 psn card + a 3000 psn card, this is around 75 euros. Not sure what you're on about, but Kagura and Terumi are both directly included in the game (well, disc version at least), for free. Only Kokonoe is a DLC. So if I feel like it, i'll just buy a small psn card to get kokonoe and whatever else for Saint seiya or Blazblue if they have more DLC. Edit : If anybody ordered from nippon yasan, don't fear the custom duty, you will get none. It's not really "legal" but they ship all games as gifts. They only market it as merchandise if you order a big quantity. Thiz since you're using Euros, i strongly advise using that site if you want the best price and avoid custom duties. -
I play france - canada - america with no input lag at all. Anybody saying it's unplayable is full of crap. Geez I even had a decent japanese fight not long ago. Laggy but not "horrid", playable. Bazblue has definitely the best netcode on console. Btw, what is the skype groupe ? I'm not in it. And my psn is Trayth if you guys want to add me, i'm in europe and guarantee no lag (besides the intro) for america fights.

I feel like Amane has a lot in common with Jin, after watching a few videos. So I could see the vacuum working, like jin's 5B in corner to cross up.

I'll just keep my preorder with the actual box. Cheaper and I can wait 3 days heh. -
Can you make it opened to europeans too next time ? I know 0 bar seems scary, but in this game, if it's due to distance and not to bad connexion, it is more than fairly acceptable and playable (it has the best netcode of the generation in terms of fighting game).
-
Hello, I am fairly new to Blazblue (only a month) but I'll be glad to fight you guys sometimes and improve myself. I am in Europe. Though the lag has been more than acceptable in all my matches (even at 0 bar). Glorious netcode. My PSN is : Trayth .

I'm gonna say this again. I do not underestimate 3D. I just have a hard time believing their ingame engine ( especially unreal's) is capable of all this. -

Well to be fair, if you look at the trailer, there are many animations that are skipping frames in a classic anime way, so I absolutely would not worry about the stylized characters. The animation design is probably unnafected as you pointed out, both snk and arc use the 3D as base even with sprite. Now, out of hundreds of cell shaded games, none have had perfect outlines, perfect faces on ALL angles ( Ky's ultimate is seriously gorgeous technically speaking, even if the design itself is still not the best), anime shading ( that is not always following the actual shapes for artistic purposes ), NO clipping, anime styled animation to a new level etc... And suddenly Arc system would just outclass the whole world ? (lets not mention how horrid capcom games look on a cell shade point of view ) Or don't you think it's more probable that this is a mix more pronounced of the method they re used to, 3D + HD edits ? Look at the launch close ups, once they jump the key frames remains identical. It's also possible these are 3D models with hd 2D layers, but since they need Vsync, perfect constant FPS and smooth netplay, seems like overdoing it since they know exactly which frames to render then edit a bit. -

It's nothing like blazblue, they are using unreal engine because they definitely placed the characters on a 3D plane. Just an extremely controlled one since the goal is 2D fighting. If you look into how Broken Age ( double fine adventure ) implemented their 2D game in their 3D engine you'll have a better idea. Also, once again, pixel art = looks only good on ONE resolution, perfect for arcade, hell to handle for thousands of customers on consoles, + removes the ability to do fancy close ups like all those successful fighters in America. And also, since they already have movesets to base the new ones on, it's a fast way to reuse them while still getting a lot of visual change thanks to 3D allowing more details. Seriously, Ky's face looks perfect on every angle, as well as the shadows on it. There is way too much control here on several level ( that I can elaborate if you will ) that does not let me think it's simple 3D. -

So many people have absolutely NO CLUE how the graphics of this game works. " this is easier and cheaper ", no it's not. First of all, you all assumed these were simple 3D models but it's not. No engine to date is able to render that kind of graphics with such a perfect control. It's rendered on PC then exported and edited in 2D, they fix potential clipping, shading, and the face ( I thought it'd be obvious when we saw ky's face on close up during his "ultimate" cinematic move). They can't tweak models that easily as it would mean reworking all frames. This is only possible because they have scripted angles and camera zoom, so they know exactly what frames to convert in 2D. You can see on the effects and Ky's win pose that NO 3d engine can pull this off without some cheating. It is a bit easier for them though, and I suspect vector animation on stuff like standing animations that creates that smooth effect. The main reason for the 3D edit ( and KOF just sprites over 3D for instance ) is that they can finally pull off the 1080p resolution, the drawing style instead of pixel style guarantees that it looks awesome on ALL TVs, and it allows them to create crazy effects that became so popular with naruto/street fighter ( on the launch, somewhat of an ultimate etc... ). They can't tweak 3D models as capcom could on SF4, it requires more work. ( Depends the tweak though ) For more info on that technique, the adventure game Broken Sword 5 use a similar one, Except they don't draw the face and they are not * as good * but it's still close. You can see a slight loss of quality in the textures of the background and the characters when it rotates, as well as the effect being somewhat static. Also it did seem awfully slow at first, I think the 1080p YouTube video is encoded poorly because on specific devices and nico it looks just as fast as before. I'm really hyped for this.
