Why can't video be posted here anymore? It makes it very difficult to find consistent and recent Sol videos. It also seems that the rest of the site is not operating as well as it was 5-6 months ago either. For example, I have seen almost no mention of the new character announced. Something like that used to make the front page here.

Thanks Airk! Yeah, it has been a really long time since I have had to learn how to input commands, so I am not used to having to think in that way. It is definitely helps though. -

Thanks Delrian! I wouldn't have thought that practicing the combo on both sides would help, but now that I am thinking about it, I guess it makes sense. I started practicing on my weaker side, and hopefully that will strengthen everything overall. Someone on reddit also pointed out that I am hitting K too soon in the motion (so 6321K4 instead of 63214K) so I am working on that as well -

Here is episode 3. Some Notes: -Doing 214 motions during a combo seem to be an issue for me. Especially when dealing with moves that don't have a lot of hitstop, because I feel like I need to rush in order to get the move to come out -IAD still poses a bit of an issue -Not having a button mapped to touch pad is absolutely idiotic, lol Enjoy!! -

Yes, you're right...I kind of came up with that little trick to try and make it work, but it just doesn't seem efficient. I will try your idea. Is that what you did to learn IAD? Usually to warm up, what I do is practice my special moves, do a few combos, and then play against the CPU on the hardest difficulty in practice mode for 10-15 minutes non stop. And thanks! I have really been trying to buckle down. It feels like I have completely gone back to not knowing anything, since my execution on pad is so much better. -

So here is my second update video. Some notes: -Fixed the angle at which the camera for my hands was positioned -Superimposed my hands over actual gameplay (PiP) for more accurate understanding of what I am doing That's about it! I will continue to post these even if no one responds, just in case some one finds them helpful! Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4PHbyClBJE&feature=youtu.be -
So today is day three that I have my Mad Catz TE2 fightstick for the PS4, and I have begun documenting the process of learning how to use it. From here on out, I will be posting regular updates showing my progress. I will talk about what things I have trouble with, and what things are coming along easily. Some initial notes; -IAD has been very difficult -Half circle forward is tough, but not nearly as hard as doing a DP mid-combo There are more, but I will leave that to the video. I hope that this can serve as a recourse for people looking to make the switch from pad, to stick. If you have suggestions, please leave them here. Let's make a discussion of it! Here is the video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdYhuYYpCtQ&feature=youtu.be

An unusual request (Xpost from videos sub)

Both of your replies are great! This is perfect stuff, and if anyone else has more, I encourage them to post!! -
I was reading the sticky about arcade sticks, and it got me to thinking; So next week I will be receiving my first fight-stick in the mail. After 10+ years of playing Guilty Gear on pad, I have finally decided to make the switch, as I want to begin competing seriously, and while most people will say "play what you're comfortable on", in my experience, playing on a pad does limit some things you can do. Any way, I digress. The point of this post is that I would like to know if anyone is aware of any videos online that show good player's hands while they play? I have found a few videos that are instructional in nature (how to hold the stick, where to place your hands, etc..) but I feel like it would be very useful to see players actually PLAYING. I think that if we get enough good responses, perhaps we could sticky this thread, and use it as a resource for newbies to the fighting game genre, or newbies to arcade-sticks in general, like myself.

Ah! Excellent. Any move giving Sol frame advantage during blockstun would give me enough time (theoretically) so dash in and WT then. Is there a place I can find which moves are + or - on block for Sol?
-
Hey fellas, thank you for the input, I appreciate it. My most consistent working tactic for WT as of right now is, if I go for Tyrant Rave, and they block the first hit, I just RC, and dash > WT. It has worked well, but I don't like relying on that as a method since it uses a full bar. Sorry for the noob question but, what do you mean by 2S being plus on block? I know what 2S is, but what do you mean when you say it is plus on block? As I've said, I am a very experienced player, it just happens that my friends and I have all our own made up terms for the game's mechanics. I know that sounds silly, but we haven't been active members of the forums or anything like that, so we just invented our own words for how the game works. So to boil down what you said though, the best way of getting in a solid WT would be to play mind games that allow for an opening? Instead of trying to just wait for that opening to present itself. Thanks again for the help here.

I have been playing GG since the original game. I love it, and pretty much refuse to play any other fighting games. I am well versed in the fundamentals of the game, and have no problems with any aspect of comboing, or anything like that, EXCEPT, for whatever reason, I have the hardest time using command grabs (in this case Wild Throw, since Sol is the only character I really play anymore). TL;DR version is, I am wondering if anyone has any tips on sneaking a WT in there? It seems that I am never close enough to make it work, therefore always making it whiff.
