Wow, this is probably the best crit I've ever received! Over-reliance on 5k has resulted in me not getting to know the rest of Anji's normasl/command normals, I'll definitely start using 6S and 2S more. Finishing up combos I'm dropping has always been a focus, I'll try using HS Rin some, and also just ending some combos with 2D. Gotta try and figure out those SJ-install combos, too...those are hard for me. Also gotta just be smarter with oki, you're right I don't throw enough. It kinda results from the fact that I'm kind of telegraphed when I try to tick throw, and I get poked out of it a lot. As for autoguarding...I've tossed plenty of matches going for those. I'm not yet at the level of understanding where I can purposefully autoguard with any move other than 6K. I expect that's something to save for later, no?

Fuujin on its own is great, because of the invincibility and priority, at least most of the time people are forced to block... I started learning anji a while ago, and when I started abusing Fuujin, it didn't take long for my friends to find all the different ways to escape my mixups. You have to throw Fuujin as if you're using a shoryuken; expect to be punished if you don't connect. The main thing to do if blocked is, like Klaige says, to delay for a split second, and depending on spacing, choose a follow-up, or none at all. I have a couple vids I uploaded right after I overcame my dependence on fuujin for zoning, and learned to love the butterfly pressure options. It's not perfect, but that's one of the areas I'm hoping you're all willing to offer suggestions! Oh, any PCB i want? EDIT again: It looks to me like I can just trash the stock button board on this stick and install some sanwa buttons, since it seems they wire directly to the PCB. The stock joystick is a 4-directional, it looks like, and it works fine; do you guys think I ought to replace it anyway? Really hoping someone could give me some help on with my issue on my joystick...it's 3 posts ago.

I bought this stick about a month ago, it just recently had a problem where the buttons randomly stop working. I temporarily solved the problem by removing the bottom plate, but now even that doesn't work. Does anyone know if there is a way to manually fix the button plate or something?

I'll post again when I have some free time; I'm a bit busy this week. Hopefully a couple of you can meet for some later afternoon gaming and then maybe grabbing food to-go in the near future.

Well, I think it's clear that I need to change my stick-hold if I can't reliably dash to the left... And in my failed FRCs (while facing left) I tend to be getting 5k...even though in the input bar I have hit: H, KSH This only happens out of chariot, so it may have something to do with the timing of my button presses.

I've been practicing a lot, but I've come across a couple problems: I have difficulty FRC-ing and dashing in-between FRCs while facing to the left, but facing right is easier (it may be because i subconsciously lean my fingers which causes me to not hit HS first). Also, I'm afraid i may be holding the joystick wrong. I rest my hand on the base itself, and pull left with my thumb, but that has resulted in numerous failed dashes, so I was wondering how other people held the joystick. I also assume that you all would recommend against playing with pad while learning stick, at least until it's second nature?

Thanks for your in-depth advice; it was very informative! I have a lot of work to do with oki... I really need to take more advantage of my connected bazookas, so I'll work on those running jumps. I'm noticing that sometimes I try to mixup by jumping because I'm afraid of being in throw range (my Johnny opponent has a notorious mastery of defensive throwing), so perhaps I ought to start throwing in some TK dust breaks/robo-dash FRC...

I know what you mean about catching with HS FRC; I'm recognizing a lot of the opportunities that I'm missing; I'll keep practicing.

I was so bad at FRC'ing HS with pad that I'd activate IK mode by mistake! Not a problem anymore.

watt and I were just playing last night and I took a look at his mist cancels in practice mode. I told him to do the cancels faster, and he immediately started whooping my ass once he starts MCing his 6k, i'll have to pray to hit him with my missiles...

thanks for the handy advice. regarding horsie cancels, can I catch into a combo with 5HS even if it's not CH?

yeah you're right, I do know that 5p is the best oki because of recovery...just a bad habit i gotta break. is there anything else I should change, or is my game really so bad everyone doesn't know what to say?

I play a lot with a bunch of other friends, but we're all about the same level so improving is a slower-than-normal process.

Hey guys, I'm the Robo in the vid. I can make any number of excuses for my gameplay, but a lot of it comes down to the fact that I'm currently transitioning to stick, and the match was played on pads (since I'm the only one currently that owns a stick, and for the sake of the other players that night, both controllers were pads). I only FRC when I play stick, so in terms of staying grounded, I'd be more willing to sit on the ground and FRC knee rockets if I were playing on stick. Even though the advice wasn't necessarily meant for me, I have to thank you guys. I know we both have a lot of potential, but I imagine there are some basics that extend beyond knowledge of game mechanics that we're just not getting. Please keep it up!

I get the feeling that there's a sort of heckling that has to get involved if Robo vs Pot fights. I see a lot of the time where the Robo is trying to confuse the Pot about whether he's going to jump or 2d, and a good bit of the strategy revolves around baiting slide head, after which they do an IAD combo or get a free ch missile, which is usually lvl 2. From there it goes into close combat, and that's a whole different game.

I've been looking at the recent Dogura vids on Youtube, and it looks like he's on a losing streak...are there vids of the 3v3 same character battles yet?

Slayer is backdashing my 5p oki, am I timing it wrong?

Just came here to brag about an awesome match I got earlier today against my slayer friend: gold burst into overclock, got an SRK, then horsie'd into dame-dame. at 1 sec to explode, I cancel dame-dame into another SRK, wallbounce into my explosion. I finished him off with j.D We had to respect each other next round.
