Well, that is the way I see it. They are slow and have hard inputs to complete in the heat of battle. Not a position I would want to be in if I can pick up a faster character which I'm a loyalist so tier charts mean nothing to me but I'm basing my logic off of the general population that wants to win lol. Grapplers in these fast paced games will always have a disadvantage. Not because of lag. That's ridiculous. And I don't know about you but my friend and I usually sit on an average of about 2-3 frames of lag and coming from MK online, that shit is flawless. So that's kind of a bad excuse. I don't find it surprising nor did I say it was lol. I am an absolute scrub at the game and know the bare minimum to get me by (meaning I don't mash like a casual but couldn't hang with a real player) so I just find it funny that the large character with no dash, air dash and a rather difficult input for a command grab in this kind of game (although it obviously does a lot of damage) is last.
