mAce said most of the stuff what i had in mind but yeah. You, like many other aspiring Azrael's, start out using 5B to 5BB most of the time. What you really wanna do is push 5A and 2A a lot instead when you are on the offence. Good basic strings are 5A to 2A, 5A 5A, 2A 5A for example. From there you can go to 5D whenever (you can push it really often until your opponent starts to block it. 5D is the god). You can also use gustaf to bait out mash etc. Also remember that 5A and 2A are both plus so you can also take a step or 2 forward sometimes and push 5A/2A again. I should also try to get in habit of doing that more . Try to work on your combos and specifically hitconfirming. You had many changes at combos but you dropped them or didn't confirm in time. You should have plenty of time to hitconfirm due how azrael's normals works. Also if you happen to score and aerial hit then you probably should get into the habit of using super jump instead of normal jump. I'm sure you are already doing this but grab few vids of dogura and try to look what he does in neutral and also when he is pressuring. Just don't take everything he does at facevalue but rather try to see why etc. Good luck!

A bit MU specific but i like to use it to punish koko's superball if i can't do anything else. It gives you weakpoints and goes right through the ball :3. Otherwise more or less you would use it during combos if you want both weakpoints or to call out holes in your opponents strings (REALLY RISKY though).
-
Yeah my bad, jABC one does not work. Do what he said ^_^.
-
TBH it would be better for you to learn the Dual weakpoint combo of forward throw instead. FT - 6A IAD jC 214D 5A jABC jc jD. It's pretty easy now. Either that or the UW one which would be FT - 6A IAD jC 5B jABC jc jD. Other than that if you want to do that specific one then you need to adjust the timing of Leopard launcher depending on character. Other than that it should work on all of the cast but can't say for sure as i never use that one D:.
-
You need to do it ASAP. You still meaty them like normal but block their DPs. OFC you need to somewhat commit to blocking. As in no mashing that 5D/2A straight away.
-
So apparently with correct timing sentinel beats ID, kaguras DP, magotos DP, litchis DP. tsubakis DP and growler. Azrael can BD out of it but you can chase with gustaf. Same with arakune and tager. This shit is even more stupid than i though.
-
That should work on everyone else but the main disadvantage that particular setup has(to my knowledge) is that if opponent chooses not to tech the stagger, you get less damage.
-
Yes you can do that! Easiest way is to end your valiant combo with scrud instead of 6D/5D. From there the basic setup is 5C to BHS. Only thing your opponent can do is either not tech(less damage), counter assault or burst before stinger hits.

I'd say people mostly "whine" about azrael because is close range normals like 5A or 5B are reaaaaaallly good and they antiair people from weirdest angles. Basically BB has never had (at least in my opinion) a character that has had as oppressive normals as azrael which lead to good amount of damage on hit. He's like slayer who has been introduced to BB and people just haven't had to deal with a character like that. It also doesn't help since most of his combos can be "dialed" without much effort. But this holds true to many chars so there's that. Azrael just steamrolls low level players with ease so people get salty. At higher level you can get salty because sometimes azrael's do the stupidest shit and for some reason they get hit with it. He's probably S tier just since he has relatively low amount of weaknesses(low range, bad against zoning) which he more than makes up with being a big bad bully. Sentinel change helps a lot also because it basically takes away one weakness that azrael had, which was that you had to play the guessing game on oki for rolls etc. But sentinel setup forces opponent to either tech right away and guess 4-way mixup or late tech which loses to 2A/2D and grants him free damage and a weakpoint. Reversals beat it but can't say which one other than ID, Corona upper, bullet/tager 720 etc. Still in the process of testing which reversals beat it. But it will change some matchups greatly imo. If you happen to be in the blindspot where 5B doesn't hit and you have used 2C already then you are more or less shit out of luck. It's probably better just either position yourself with dash or do a meaty sentinel.

http://www.twitch.tv/central804/b/525412241?t=52m58s dash sentinel at it's finest! (Also a shameless self-plug!)
-
You are just mistiming stuff after the 5A. Most of the stuff after 5A are more akin to links than normal gatlings. It takes sometime to get used to but if you just keep at it you should be ok!
-
I talked about sentinel oki earlier but have been testing it and it really feels and looks like it's gonna be fucking devastating. You can see dogura going for it every time he can in the set against the relius player. I also asked him about it and he said it's pretty damn good. Sadly the one he did after jD (jD dash tk dump) wasn't that good according to him. Still it seems that we now have a setplay setup for azrael :3. EDIT: If i remember correctly they changed all the jumping attacks in the patch. It also reads in wiki (90% P1 to 80% P1) sooo.
-
I'll try to look into it every time i have chance. A bit hard to test cos it's either arcade mode which has limited time per char or sparring but only one char at a time ;(. I reaaaaaally wish they would add the sparring mode from Xrd since you can swap the character you wanna train against on the fly. Makes trying stuff out sooo much easier.
-
It probably works but the dash 5A is most lilkely easier and more staple to do. The IAD one is more damage sure buuuut i'll sac some damage any day for a combo i won't drop. Against koko this is mandatory as you can end up in a position where you worked your ass off to get in and then you need to do it again. It's not just koko ofc but koko MU specifically is one where you cannot really play neutral like normal so capitalizing each opportunity you have is paramount i feel.
-
Good news everybody! That extension works on 1.1 kokonoe! Imma hit the training mode and grind that shit out on console. It's not trivial to do put i think it's staple enough with proper training to be a thing! Also TCL to 3D works on 1.1 koko! So there's easy mode option too!

You can try using 5A gustaf also. No need to always go to 5B/2B to use it. Keeps you closer and also beats out mashing. Staggering(i guess that's the correct term) is also good. 5A step 5A is also an option. Same with 2A. Both are plus so you can take a small step if you want. If they mash you can just cancel to your other stuff for pain. Azrael has problems with barrier BUT also can work around it. For me IAD jB works pretty well as a way to keep pressure going. I also do dashes after far gustaf. It works and if people mash you can probably CH them with 5B or 2B or 2C. One thing you really should do is to take note what situations give you problems. Like the gustaf thing. Go to training mode and try out your options after. See what loses to what etc.
-
Well you have few options. 1. You can try and do 5A or 5A 5B to IAD jB. If they want to chicken block then you should be able to catch them and cover some ground. You could also try to gatling 5B to 5C but that might lose to IADB jC. 2. 5A to dash something. Loses to mashing. 3. gatling 5B to 3C and try to catch them not blocking low. 4. 5A to 2C or 5A 5B to 2C to try catch them. 5. 5B gatling to 6D/3D I usually just do the IAD jB thing as it is most safe in those situations. Basicly they need to call you out with early AA to beat it which then loses to 5B 3C etc. EDIT: also what zeth said. 5A 5D or 2A 5D has caught people trying to jump out for me soooooo many times.
-
For punishing i still generally use 5B or 5C or 5D. Should probably look into 3C punishes but i usually end up punishing reversals either way so i just 5C/5D most of the time :3. RC jC 6A i just do by the feel really. I don't personally delay the RC and i hit it most of the time. Theen i drop it like maybe 10% of the time ;(. I've been trying out stuff in corner after the patch and i have been using dump there more often. It's pretty good i think. Generally most of the time people don't stay down and just tech even after a long combo. If they don't i just dump which should catch rolls too. That or whack them with 5B. 2D is also good if they just want to lay down. 2C should also work but they are both have higher risk and higher reward than the usual things(well 2D isn't really high reward but yeah...). Azrael doesn't really have anything that will force opponent to respect your oki so it boils down to reading what they want to do. Best thing to do really is just stand in range where they can't roll through you and push something. 5D/5B/whatever. Or block if DP's are a thing in the current match you are playing.
-
They changed hornet chaser like it says in patch notes. It tracks faster now If you wait few frames you catch up with opponent faster and can do the normal follow up. If you start mashing jC straight away then you just kick the air. The change really helps on AIR hit. Grounded hit is more or less the same.
-
You can still mess it up but if you delay the jC a bit, then the new trajectory change should help you catch the opponent more easily. But if you start mashing jC right away, then that specific situation can happen :3.
-
One thing about sentinel. Since you can just easily tk it now, you can do meaty sentinel to dash tk sentinel. If opponent crouches there's a change that it will crossup and i have had times midscreen when it didn't crossup. You could also use it for fake crossups but you need to be sure people will respect what you do. I am pretty sure 5A mash would beat it pretty easily. All in all it's fairly stupid in a sense that you can now do some dirty stuff with it. And if they block you are still +12 so yeaaaah...

Totally stealing that OS. Cheers. I can almost hear the lamentations of koko players.

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask but w/e. I would be coming to this years EVO from japan and i'm looking for people to share a room with. I will mostly be at EVO for BB, but i will probably enter the GG side tourney as well. Soo if someone happens to have a spot for one or wants to talk about getting a room then please do pm me!
-
Soo which azrael player's are gonna head out to EVO this year :3? I registered earlier today so i'm 100% coming now! Only need to book flights and get a room (Help a bro out here, earlier plan was to hook up with kiba but he might not be able to come because of SSS-tier costs, so i need people to share a room with!) PS. Wheeeeere is the EVO threaaaaaaad

You can cancel the landing recovery on j2C to gustaf. You also could just let it rock and push 5A, or block after. If you just do BD every time you're just gonna get punished. If the dive is IB'd then just block. And only height that matters is if you hit standing or crouching opponent with it. It largely does not matter if you start high or low with the move. The thing has 10f landing recovery anyways and has active frames till you land so yeah.
